Catherine Marie Lanfear

lanfearHADLEY – Catherine Marie Lanfear, 53, passed away on Tuesday June 14, 2016 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on March 27, 1963, in Peekskill, NY she was the daughter of Richard Gilbert and Patricia Kenneally. Catherine was married to John C. Lanfear on January 13, 1998, in Hudson Falls.

Catherine enjoyed spending time knitting, painting, crocheting and baking.

She was predeceased by her step-father, Richard P. Kenneally.

She is survived by her father, Richard P. Gilbert of Peekskill; her Mother, Patricia M. Kenneally of Argyle; her husband John C. Lanfear; her daughter Carlotta A. Gilbert of Hadley, her five sisters and one brother: Dawn M. Gilbert of Hadley, Brenda L. Gilbert of DeKalb, IL, Colleen Deronda of Walden, Kelly Dickerson of Fayetteville, PA, Patricia A. Kenneally of Queensbury and Joseph A. Kenneally of Hartford; along with her three nieces, Mariah, Phairen, Teayonna; and three nephews: Timothy, Jacob and Junior; her aunt and uncle Linda and Leo Santiago; and many cousins of Peeskill.

Friends may call on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Constance M. Gleason

Quinn - Gleason

GLENS FALLS – Constance M. Gleason, 59, a native of Glens Falls, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016, at her home.

Born September 10, 1956, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Gleason and Anne Elizabeth (Massita ) Gleason.

Constance enjoyed working for the State of New Hampshire as a Vocation Rehabilitation Secretary.  This position allowed her to meet many politicians, including President George H.W. Bush, Sr.

She owned and operated Ideal Market in Concord, NH for several years, until her illness forced her to close.  Constance fought Dystonia for many years until she lost her battle on Monday.  She loved spending time with family and grandchildren.  Constance also enjoyed, playing bingo, garage saleing, crocheting and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed loving on her dog, Milo and her cat, Whiskers.  The most important thing that anyone would want you to know about her, is that she was an amazing mother and sister.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister Julie Wood, her son Walter Potter and nephew Danny DeSantis

She is survived by her three children, Tammie Gill and her significant other, Arthur Almy of Hadley, Vincent Potter and his wife, Andrea of Hudson Falls and Vernon Potter and his wife, Jessica of Lake Bomoseen, VT; her eight grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; her brothers, Raymond Gleason and his significant other, Linda Bryant of Glens Falls and Ralph Gleason of Glens Falls; her sisters, Linda DeSantis and Doug Wood of Lake Luzerne, Laurie Roccasecca and her significant other, Doug Davis of Fort Edward and Patricia Hermance and her husband, Mike; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many others who loved her; and Victor Z. Potter, whom she was able to reconcile with after 30 years; and her step-son, Victor Z. Potter, Jr. of Glens Falls.

Memorial services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

James L. Palmer

PalmerGRANVILLE – James L. Palmer, 71, Of Granville, passed away in the loving arms of his wife Lucinda, with his beloved family surrounding him on Friday, June 10, 2016.

Born on March 16, 1945, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Harry Palmer.

Jim proudly served the United States Navy during the Vietnam war, serving on the USS Sarabachi and the USS Neosho.

On May 21, 1983, he married Lucinda Lefebvre at Harrisena Church in Queensbury.

He served as a custodian for the South Glens Falls School System for over 30 years.

Jim loved the Lord and he knew he could pray anywhere, especially at home. He loved cars, his dog Camelot and making sure everyone had a fresh cup of coffee. Most of all, Jim loved the time spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lucinda Palmer of Granville; his children, Gregory Scott Palmer and his fiancé, Donna of Glens Falls, Corina Boyer and her husband. Jason of Hudson Falls, Donald Eugene Palmer and his wife, Regina of Fort Ann, Jillian Bonds and her husband, Chris of Omaha, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Bradford, Alex, Kayelee, Maddy, Lauren and Lewis Boyer, Makayla Palmer, Izabel Palmer and Isaac Wadsworth; his extended family, Janet VanGuilder and Judy and Peter Carr. Jim was a wonderful foster father to many children, “He was the best!”

There are no calling hours scheduled.

A graveside service, with military honors will take place on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Duel Rd in the town of Stillwater.

Ronald P. Rock, Sr.

Rock, RonHUDSON FALLS – Ronald P. Rock, Sr., 65, passed away at his home in Hudson Falls, on Saturday, June 11, 2016.

Ron was born on August 24, 1950, in Glens Falls to the late Ross and Sophia (Flores)Rock.

On July 1, 1969, Ron was joined in marriage to Barbara Fuller at St. Mary’s Church in Ticonderoga, NY.

He loved hunting, fishing, and camping and worked at various place throughout his life including: The Container Corporation, Montgomery Wards, Adirondack Fish Company, Scott Paper, Encore, and the BioTech Mill in Salem.

Ron is predeceased by his father Ross Rock Sr., His mother, Sophia (Flores) Rock; his brothers, John Rock and Ross Rock Jr., his sisters Sylvia Breton and Donna Rock Maclemore, and also Baby Rock whom passed at the time of birth.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years Barbara Rock of Hudson Falls; his daughter Tammy Yell and her companion, Jerry Mattison of Hebron, along with their daughter Zoey Flint; his son Ronald P. Rock Jr. and his wife, Amy of Beverly Hills, FL.; his Grandchildren: Ronald P. Rock III and his wife, Tori of Texas, Amanda Renaud and Ralph King along with their children: Daygon King, Payton King, Brady King, and Sami Jo King; Micheal Yell and his son, Noah Yell; and Tyler Yell; his two brothers, Lloyd Rock and his wife, Ann of Glens Falls, William Rock and his wife, Judie of Hudson Falls; along with several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Church on Broadway in Fort Edward with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor officiating.

The Rite of Committal will take place at the convenience of the family.

George S. Smith, Jr.

Smith, GeorgeHUDSON FALLS – George S. Smith, Jr., 77, of Hudson Falls, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on June 26, 1938, in Hudson Falls, he was the son of the late George and Ella (Ackley) Smith, Sr.

On February 15, 1959, he married Janice White.  Together they shared 57 wonderful years together.

For years, George was employed at Chase Bag Co, formerly of Moreau and Decora in Fort Edward.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.  George also enjoyed tending to his blackberry bushes and taking care of his yard at home.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his grandson, Brian Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Smith of Hudson Falls; his brother, Leonard Smith and his wife, Katherine of Hudson Falls; his children, Terry Smith of South Glens Falls, Connie Schaefer and her husband, Dean of Fort Edward and Colleen Moreland of Kentucky; his grandchildren, Chris and Megan Smith of Hudson Falls, Randy Hodgkins and his wife, Jessica of Fort Ann, Kayla Gregory and her husband, Derek of Hudson Falls, Rachel, Eli, Jacob and Megan Moreland of Kentucky; two great grandchildren, Aiden and Rilee Hodgkins of Fort Ann; and several nieces, nephews and cousin.

Friends may call on Friday, from 11 to 12 p.m. at the Greater Glens Falls Bible Baptist Church on 2 West Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will follow the calling hour at 12 noon on Friday, at the church, with Pastor Guy Goodell, officiating.

Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery on Tripoli Road in Fort Ann.

The family would like to thank the nurses and helpers at the Glens Falls Hospital T3 for the wonderful care and compassion given to George.

Frank J. Desourdy

DeSourdyHUDSON FALLS – Frank J. Desourdy, 84 of Dubes Road, passed on to a better life on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at his home.

Born on September 21, 1931 in Willsboro, NY, he was the son of the late Harry and Gertrude (Clark) Desourdy.

On April 10, 1953, he married Edwina Stratton.   She passed away on December 28, 2008, after 55 wonderful years of marriage.

For over 30 years, Frank was employed at Ciba Geigy, formerly in Queensbury.  While working at Ciba Geigy, he also helped out on several area dairy farms.  After his retirement, Frank went back to work at many catheter manufacturers in the surrounding area.

When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed tending to his garden and taking care of his yard.    Frank also spent many hours building all sorts of nic knacks. He was a hard worker and a dedicated father to his seven children.

Besides his parents and wife, Frank was predeceased by his son, William Desourdy, his brother, John and his sisters, Harriett, Clara and Lillian.

Survivors include his six children, Naomi Saville and her husband, Paul of Honeyford, North Dakota, Sabrina Pharmer of Hudson Falls, Roberta Hull of Hudson Falls, Joseph Desourdy and his wife, Connie of Glens Falls, Henry Desourdy, Sr. and his wife, Carol of Hudson Falls and Timothy Desourdy also of Hudson Falls; thirteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one on the way; his brother, Marvin Desourdy and his wife, Margie of Hudson Falls; his sister in law, Verna Desourdy of Hudson Falls; his brothers in law, Avery Planty of Pikeville, North Carolina and Lester Valyer of Gansevoort; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his faithful dogs, Angel and Demon.

At Frank’s request, there will be no services.

Burial will be in Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

The family suggests that donations in Frank’s memory be made to Diabetes Association, Pine West Plaza, Building 2, Suite 204, Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY  12205 or the Alzheimer’s Association, Adirondack Office, P.O. 4091, Queensbury, NY  12804.

Frank’s family wishes to thank Fort Hudson Social Day Care nurses for their help and their patience with Dad.

Robert “Bob” Guilder, Jr.

GuilderFORT EDWARD – Robert “Bob” Guilder, Jr., 61, of Fort Edward, died peacefully, at his home, after a short battle with cancer, with his family and friends by his side on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.

Born on July 17, 1954, in Corinth, he was the son of the late Robert Guilder, Sr. and the late Pauline Greenier.

Bobby attended Argyle Central School.  He worked many different trades in the area throughout his life and was known for his skills.

Bobby enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR racing, especially #3 Dale Earnhardt, Jr., he also enjoyed many other forms of auto racing.  He loved woodworking, fixing cars and working his hands.  Bobby had many practical life skills that helped him along in life.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Edna McWhorter and Elaine Parent.

He is survived by his daughter, Amy Monroe and her husband, Kelvin of Chestertown; his three grandchildren, Dylan Monroe, Gabby Monroe and Izzy Monroe; his sister, Paula Edwards and her husband, Jessie of Hudson Falls; his friend who was like a brother, Charles Scally, Jr. and his significant other, Jane Lewis of Hudson Falls; his close friends, Nancy Knickerbocker, Jackie Monroe, Sonya Devino and her fiancé, Jess Cook and their two daughters, Delbert Mundell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many more close friends to numerous to mention.

Friends may call from 11 to 1 p.m. on Monday, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Amy L. Smith

Smith, AmyFORT EDWARD – Amy L. Smith 42, of Fort Edward passed away Tuesday May 17, 2016.

Born on February 5, 1974, in Catskill, the daughter of William Weidman and Linda Legg.

She was predeceased by her parents William Weidman and Linda Legg.

Survivors include her husband, Keith Smith; sons, Gavin Pritchard and Keith Smith Jr.; sister, Barbara Weidman; and brother, Billy Weidman; nieces, Samantha and Cassie Weidman, Belinda Vogel and nephew, Gabriel Vogel; aunts, Edna (Ralph) Rominger, Rosie (Herb) Williams, Judy (Brady) Jordan and Barb (Rick) Bullock; cousins, Andrea and Andrew Jordan, Katrina, Ingrid and Ursula Rominger,  Peter and Danielle Hamlin, and  Herb Williams; she also had many close friends, including her best friend Terry.

Calling hours will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Burial will be at a later date at the families discretion.

Patricia A. “Pat” Bruce

BruceLAKE GEORGE – Patricia A. “Pat” Bruce, 82, of Lockhart Mt. Road, went into the arms of the Lord, Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on November 23, 1933 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Madelyn (Smith) Gifford.

On October 18, 1951, she married Clifford Bruce at The First Baptist Church of Hudson Falls. They were married 64 wonderful years.

Pat worked for many years as head housekeeper at the Super 8 Motel.  She enjoyed crocheting, going to bingo and casinos and traveling with her husband.  Pat also enjoyed the Christmas holiday, when she would spend time with her family.   She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt.  They loved her deeply and will miss her terribly. Pat was an unselfish person with a big heart, who was always thinking and taking care of others. 

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Jean Brodie and her brother, James Gifford.

Survivors include her loving husband, Clifford Bruce of Lake George; two  daughters, Sherrie Kamburelis and her husband, Bradley, of Glens Falls and Donna Bruce of Glens Falls; five grandchildren, Robert Harris of Glens Falls, Patricia Dickinson and her husband, Kevin, of Fort Edward, Bradley Kamburelis, II and his wife, Jeanette of Fort Edward, James Graves and his wife, Laura of Glens Falls and Crystal Hafner and her husband, Timothy, of Fort Edward; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister, Joyce Mattison and her husband, Earl, of Fort Ann; one brother, Elmer Gifford and his wife, Dorothy, of Fort Edward; brother in law, Carl Bruce and his wife, Aida; sisters in law, Ann Gifford, Hazel Moore, Ruth Weaver and her husband, David, Betty Chapman; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will be conducted by Daniel Helenek and William Smith, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, following the calling hour, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Eleanor Young

QUEENSBURY – Eleanor Young, 91, formerly of Adirondack Manor, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2016, at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in Fort Edward.

Born on January 2, 1925, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Irene Young.

Eleanor loved bingo, crazy eights, reminiscing about old movies, and attending the day program at the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility.  She also loved going to McDonalds on Fridays and walking the grounds of Adirondack Manor with a couple of ladies from her wing.

Besides her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her close friend and caregiver, Joyce Bacon.

Survivors include her many friends she made living at Adirondack Manor.

Rite of Committal will be held at 1 p.m., on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

A special thank you goes out to the care providers at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility for their tremendous care given to Eleanor throughout the years.

Thomas “TR” Remsen

imageHUDSON FALLS – Thomas “TR” Remsen, 31, of Spruce Street, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on July 27, 1984, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Thomas and Mary (Maille) Remsen.

TR was a 2003 graduate of Hudson Falls High School, where he played sports. He was also on a traveling bowling team, a sport he loved and was very talented in. Following high school, he attended Adirondack Community College, graduating in 2005 with his degree in telecommunications. Following ACC, he furthered his education at SUNY I.T. in Utica and graduated from there with his Bachelor degree in Telecommunications and Media Arts.

While attending school, he worked summers at Lake George Steamboat Company. After graduation, TR fulfilled a lifelong dream and love of the railroad, by being a conductor with the Upper Hudson River Railroad. He was especially proud of conducting on the Polar Express and piloting Thomas the Tank Engine. His last job was working at Subway until 2015.

TR was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, where he served as an altar server and for 20 years, a member of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 574.

TR was a unique person with many, many talents and interests. His music was his life. TR could play and owned multiple instruments, he had 36 harmonicas, a keyboard, violin, guitar and bass, drums, shakers, tambourines and bongo drums. TR also wrote music and loved performing for his fans. He enjoyed playing at the Hudson River Music Hall, Rock Hill Bake House and many open mikes at various venues throughout this area and in Pennsylvania.

He also had a knack for computers, where he got his degree. TR had no problem finding his way around a keyboard or programing a computer.

TR was also a people person, who was interested in everyone’s story. He was a kind, warm and thoughtful person, who was always looking out for his family and friends. He was big brother to his sister and his friends. One of TR’s missions in life was looking out for the underdog. Even while fighting cancer, he fought as hard as he could, not just for himself, but for his family that he loved.

TR was known for his wonderful sense of humor and even being as sick as he was, he was always there with his jokes and a wonderful smile. When signing his DNR, he commented that he didn’t want to be a vegetable, but if he was, he would want to be broccoli.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Thomas and Carol Maille and Thomas and Elizabeth Remsen.

TR is survived by his loving parents, Thomas and Mary Remsen of Hudson Falls ; his sister, Kimberly Remsen of Hudson Falls; his aunts and uncles, Deborah Rourke and her husband, William of Hudson Falls, Paul Maille of Shushan, Thomas Maille and his wife, Rita of Omaha, NE and Nancy Powhida of Queensbury; and several cousins.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Thursday, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

The family would like to thank the Glens Falls Hospital Tower 2, CR Wood Cancer Center, the Renal Center on Broadway, Dr. Gillani, Dr. Yun, Dr. Mihindu and all his friends, for the loving care and compassion given to TR and his family during his illness.

Lorri Jayne Washburn

Washburn, LorriHUDSON FALLS – Lorri Jayne Washburn, 59, of Rock City Road, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on May 7, 1957, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Wayne and Irene (Freeman) Maranville.

Lorri was a 1975 graduate of Hudson Falls High School and continued her education through BOCES.  She was very proud to have earned her LPN Degree.  Lorri worked for many years as a nurse at Women’s Care in Glens Falls.

On October 18, 1975, she married Alan Washburn at the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Hudson Falls. They were married 40 amazing years.

Lorri was a longtime member of Gospel Lighthouse Church and most recently, New Beginnings Community Church.  Lorri’s faith was very important to her.  She loved attending many bible studies with her numerous friends.

Her family was the center of her life.  She was an outstanding wife and mother, showing her family and anyone that knew her, unconditional love.  Lorri loved her grandchildren and the time she spent with them.    She enjoyed many vacations, which included trips to Hawaii, Myrtle Beach and the Caribbean.  Lorri was known for being a resilient lady in the way she approached life.  She always encouraged her children to never give up and to pursue their dreams.

She is survived by her husband, Alan Seward Washburn; her children, Tiersa Crossman and her husband, John, Alan Washburn II and his wife, Georgia, Daniel Washburn and his wife, April and Nathaniel Washburn and his wife, Kristal; her grandchildren, Mikayla, Alan III, Cameron, Elijah, Josiah and Harper; her brother, Reverend Donald Maranville and his wife, Debbie; her sister, Tammy Wilson and her husband, Paul; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many wonderful friends.

Friends may call on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Tuesday, at New Beginnings Community Church, 487 Dix Ave, in Queensbury with her brother, Reverend Donald Maranville and the Reverend Randy Gross, officiating.

Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.

Denise M. Flores

imageGLENS FALLS – Denise M. Flores, 62, of Glens Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Washington Center in Argyle, where she was recovering from a stroke.

Born on July 22, 1953, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Jeanette (Colvin) Flores.

Denise loved to grocery shop, playing hide and seek in the aisles, so she could shop longer. She also enjoyed camping with her family and friends in Lake Luzerne, knitting and being outdoors in the spring weather. Denise loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving and forgiving mom, with a big heart and an adoring grandmother. Denise will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Over the years, she has opened her door and her heart to many neighborhood children, that considered her, their second mom.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by an infant sister and her aunts, Loretta Angus, Mary Barlow, Betty Scally and Sandra Chilson.

She is survived by her two sons, Arthur Smith and his wife, Shauna of Ticonderoga and Joseph Smith and his fiancée, Magen Taft of Hudson Falls; her three grandchildren, Haiden Smith, Ariel and Cole Smith; her two brothers, Anthony “Tony” Flores and his wife, Diane of Hudson Falls and Tracy Flores and his wife, Lynn of Fort Edward; the father of her children, Arthur Henry Smith of Texas; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many wonderful friends.

Friends may call on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, from 10 to 12 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Graveside services will follow the calling hours on Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Because of her love of nature’s beautiful landscape, the family appreciates any flowers sent to the funeral home in Denise’s memory.
