Matthew Ryan David

DavidHUDSON FALLS – Matthew Ryan David, 25, of Hudson Falls, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016, at home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on September 9, 1990, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Douglas David of Glens Falls and Samantha Flexon of Hudson Falls.

Matthew graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 2009 and then attended SUNY Adirondack.

He enjoyed baseball, bowling, fishing, ice skating, tinkering with electronics, coaching Girls Softball Tri County Middle League and he also loved video games.  Matthew had the biggest blue eyes and captivating smile. He was very respectful and could make everyone laugh.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Robert Stevens, Sr.

Survivors include his father, Douglas David and his companion, Marjie Killian of Queensbury; his mother, Samantha Flexon of Hudson Falls; his sister and partner in crime, Gabby Flexon of Hudson Falls; his maternal uncle, Robert Stevens, Jr. and his wife, Karen of Hudson Falls; his maternal aunt, Michele Stevens of Granville; his paternal grandparents, Mary and Abraham David of Glens Falls; his paternal uncle, John David of Glens Falls, Tom David of Clifton Park and Steve David and his wife, Lisa of Clifton Park; his paternal aunts, Kathy O’Brien and her companion, Dan Driscoll of Glens Falls, Linda David of Glens Falls and Jeanne Cunningham and her husband, Bill of Bristol, CT; and several cousins.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, from 3 to 6 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Immediately following the calling hours, a reception with food and refreshments, celebrating Matt’s life, will be held for friends and family at the Glens Falls Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #81, 32 Cronin Road in Queensbury.

Joan M. Kelly

KellyHUDSON FALLS – Joan M. Kelly, 77, of Pleasantview Drive, went into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on December 17, 1938, in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John and Rose (McConike) Fitzgerald.

Joan grew up in Newark, NJ.  Her family then moved to Gansevoort, where she eventually met her lifelong friend, Joan Diamond.   Joan and Joan remained close friends for 63 years, until the day she passed away.

While working at General Electric Co. in Fort Edward, she met her future husband, Philip Kelly.  They were married in September of 1966, in Granville.  Together, they hosted many parties and family gatherings at their home on Pleasantview Drive.  When a dance floor was available at any gathering, Joan and Joan delighted everyone with the jitterbug.   Philip and Joan shared their lives together until his death on January 5, 1998.

Joan’s was devoted to her faith and she made it a part of her life.  She was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church and was devoted to saying her Rosary every day.  She was also an original member of the Tiger Tracker Booster Club.  Joan enjoyed watching her sons and grandchildren playing sports.  She was an avid lover of following tennis and especially enjoyed watching Nadal, who was her favorite player.

Joan was a caregiver.  Her purpose in life was to take care of those around her.  She began by caring for her parents, her siblings, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Joan’s love and support will be greatly missed by her family and all those who had the pleasure to meet her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, John Fitzgerald.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Kelly and his wife, Melonie of Fort Edward and Patrick Kelly and his wife, Roxanne of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Caila (Kelly) Shaw, Alyssa Kelly, Jessica Kelly, Bethany Kelly and her boyfriend, Victor Woodworth and her only grandson, Michael Kelly; her great-grandchildren, Alexander Shaw, Patrick Shaw and Gianna Kelly; her siblings, Ron Fitzgerald, Robert Fitzgerald, Linda Cicone, Dian Brow and Judy Ross; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her best friend, Joan Diamond of Hudson Falls.

Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the Park in Hudson Falls, with the Reverend Tom Babiuch, pastor, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.

Edith Clara Gaulin

Gaulin, EdityFORT EDWARD – Edith Clara Gaulin, 99, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016, at her home.

Born on August 13, 1917, in Kingsbury, she was the daughter of the late Clara I. Dennison and Robert J. Andrews.

On June 1, 1936, she married her beloved husband, Donald Gaulin.

She had several hobbies, Edith loved to knit and crochet and was an avid reader (romance novels being her favorite) and loved crossword puzzles.

Later in life, she collected Fenton Glass Bells, Birds and Shoes.  Edith loved her poodles and her cat “Boots”, also nature and watching birds at her many bird feeders.  Growing African violets was also her passion, Edith would fill her home with them.

Edith’s favorite times were spent with her family during weekends at her camp at Hadlock Pond.  Taking long walks around the lake, picking wild flowers with her grandchildren and visiting neighbors were highlights of her weekends on Hadlock.

Edith was also involved with the local fire department, where her husband, Donald was a volunteer for many years, they were faithful to attend many of the events for the fire department.  In her older years, she enjoyed her morning “tea group” at McDonalds.

In addition to her parents and husband, Donald, she was predeceased by her daughter, Elaine Henderson and several brothers.

She is survived by her son, Paul D. Gaulin and his wife, June; her grandchildren, Chris Bazan, Deborah Norton (Kerry), Theresa Brilyea (LeRoy), Bob Bazan (Judy), Daniel Gaulin (Lynn), Tami Lacombe (Rick) and Mary Gaulin; her many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews; also her dear friend, Eleanor Pearson.

The Rite of Committal will be conducted 1 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Memorial donations may be sent the animal shelter of your choice.

Shawn M. Dean

ShawnDeanWHITEHALL – Shawn M. Dean, 30, of Whitehall and formerly of Queensbury, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 21, 2016, after struggling with addiction. 

Born February 12, 1986, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Robert Dean, Sr. and Nina Gustafson. 

Shawn was a graduate of Queensbury High School, attended Stony Brook University and a graduate of the Tool and Die Maker Apprentice Program of General Electric.

He was employed by General Electric in Rutland. 

Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Shawn will say that he was the most kind and caring person. An articulate man with so much knowledge to share and always ready to discuss or debate, he was the best person for late night talks. Never too busy to lend a listening ear to those in need, he did all he could to bring a smile to your face. From a very young age it was obvious that Shawn was full of so much love. From saving all the stray animals to his fan favorites in sports (Dolphins and Red Sox) Shawn was always rooting for the underdog. It was not uncommon for him to stop what he was doing to help someone in need. He would help the homeless, pick up hitchhikers, give you the shirt off his back, the food on his plate, or better yet cook you your own. Shawn enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and rock climbing with his friends and family. He found peace and solitude in music, especially Led Zeppelin and Tool. From the time his daughter was a baby he would play his favorite songs for her, the two of them laughing and singing together. Above all, the most important part of his life, his pride and joy, was being a father to his beautiful daughter Cambria. She was the love of his life and he always had the biggest smile whenever she was by his side. She will carry that smile for all that loved him to keep his memories alive in our hearts

 He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Irving and Mary E. Dean, Sr.; his maternal grandmother Eunice Clark; and his cousin and work partner, Logan Dean.

 Survivors include Robert Dean, Sr. and his companion, Lucy Elder of Queensbury and Nina Gustafson and his step-father, Warren, of Queensbury; his daughter, Cambria Dean of Queensbury, he is survived by: his companion, Elizabeth Johansson of Whitehall; his grandfather Charles Clark of South Glens Falls; his brother Robert L. Dean, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Queensbury; his two sisters: Angela Dean and her companion, Ron Diffee of Fenimore, and Stephanie Dean and her companion, Dave Carletta of Rochester; the mother of his child, Melissa Mapes of Queensbury; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins.

Friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, at the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation on Aviation Rd in Queensbury with the Rev. Joseph Busch, pastor, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.

Joseph R. Lewis

Lewis, JosephFORT EDWARD – Joseph R. Lewis, 69, of Lower Allen Street, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016, at his home.

Born, December 14, 1946, in Glens Falls, son of the late Walter and Agnes (Hall) Lewis.  Walter passed away August 24, 1994 and Agnes passed away September 5, 2005.

Joseph was a Hudson Falls High School graduate where he was an accomplished football player.

He worked for 21 years at Ciba Geigy, formerly in Queensbury and then worked at Finch Pruyn in Glens Falls. He was a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 773.

Joseph enjoyed old TV shows, especially “Leave it to Beaver”.  He liked listening to Johnny Cash and George Jones.  He was a great welder and in his spare time he enjoyed building weight benches for his friends.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Joseph is predeceased by two sisters, Patricia McKinney, Mary Ellen Crevision, and a brother, John Lewis.

He is survived by four children, Linda Lewis of Marion and Lisa Lewis of Marion, Christine Lewis of Hudson Falls and Joseph Lewis and his wife, Kimberly of Hudson Falls; his grandchildren, Sean Bukowski, Rebecca Lewis, Bianca Lewis, Allivia Davis Melissa Heers, Melanie Heers; his brothers, James T. Lewis and Jeffrey Lewis; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A memorial service will follow the calling hours at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clyde E. Smith

QUEENSBURY- Clyde E. Smith, 85, of Queensbury, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016. 

Born September 18, 1930, in Hudson Falls, he was the son of the late Virgil and M. Lucina “Sine” Smith. 

Clyde was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School and went on to receive his Bachelors and Masters in education at Plattsburg State.  

He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. 

His wife, Shirley (Walker) Smith, passed away in 2005, following 48 years of marriage. 

Clyde taught in the Glens Falls School District for 30 plus years.  

His enjoyments included deer hunting with his buddies, spending time gardening, and reading western books. Most of all, he cherished the time spend with his family, especially his grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents and his wife Shirley, Clyde was predeceased by his sister Joyce Smith and his brother in law David Smith.

He is survived by his children: Gregory Smith and his wife, Michele of Placerville, CA, Cindy Smith of Brookfield, CT, and Alicia Butler and her husband, David of Queensbury; his close family friend, Liz Stabile; his grandchildren: Jessica and Trevor Smith, and Davin and Dylan Butler; his brother and sister in law Leon and Sally Walker; and several nieces and nephews. 

There will be no public services held. At the convenience of the family, the burial will be held at a later date at the Gerald B. H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville.

Aileen Fuss

MOREAU – Aileen V. Fuss, 91, of Moreau and formerly of Hudson Falls, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at the Home of the Good Shepherd, following a brief illness.

Born on October 10, 1924, in Queensbury, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rosanna (Mayotte) LaCarte.

In 1951, Aileen married Frederick Fuss at St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls, they spent 52 happy years together, until his death in 2003.

She was employed at General Electric in Hudson Falls until the birth of her children.  Aileen felt very fortunate having been able to stay home and take care of her family. They were the center of her life.  She was a wonderful wife and mother, always putting them first and setting a wonderful example.  They were blessed to have her as a mother.

Aileen was known as “the walker”, although she could jitterbug at 90. Her interests were gardening, crossword puzzles, enjoying the screen porch at her home and her family.   When not sitting on the front porch at the Home of the Good Shephard welcoming visitors and soaking in the warm sun, Aileen enjoyed her sidewalk strolls.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Joyce LaCarte, Lucille Welch, Joan Platt and her brothers, Joseph LaCarte, Jr., and Bernard LaCarte.

Aileen is survived by her children, Joyce Shovah and her companion, Bill Nikas of Queensbury and Hudson Falls; Charles (Katherine) Fuss, of Moreau, Christianne (John) Strough of Queensbury; her grandchildren, Roxanne (Stuart) Rosenberg, Michael Shovah, Catherine (Justin) Beach and John Strough IV; her great grandchildren, Ava Rosenberg, Evelyn Shovah, Henry Beach and Andrew Warner; her “kid sister” Nanette Newell and her “baby brother” John (Phyllis) LaCarte; as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces,  great nephews and cousins.

Per Aileen’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.

The Rite of Committal will be private at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Kingsbury, at a later date.

Aileen’s family wishes to thank the excellent care she received from the staff at the Home of the Good Shepherd, Moreau Emergency Squad and the compassionate care of Glen Anderson, PA, Hudson Headwaters Health Network.

Cecil H. Allen

imagejpeg_2_26Allen, Cecil OlderQUEENSBURY — Cecil H. Allen, died at the age of 102, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her family, on Aug. 10, 2016.

She was born on April 6, 1914, the daughter of the late Warren and Estella Rose (Perry) Wiltsey.

She was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls and attended Hudson Falls School.

In March of 1933, she married Charles H. Allen in Ballston Spa. They celebrated 48 years of marriage until his passing in January of 1981.

They enjoyed spending time at camp with their friends and dancing. Cecil liked sitting on her back porch watching the birds and various animals in her yard. Her favorite pastime was reading, which she was able to do until shortly before her passing. However, her greatest enjoyment was her family. Her love and caring for all was a great example for grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her brother, Ernest E. Wiltsey, her sisters, Dorothy Douglas, Marjorie Bennett, Evelyn Cornell,and infant, Gertrude Wiltsey, a son in law, Clarence Krause, great grandson, Charles Krause,nephew, Lawrence Merrill and niece, Eleanor Young.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, June Krause of Queensbury; hergrandchildren, Raymond Krause of Texas and Darlene Tucker and her husband, James of Hartford; her great grandchildren, Eric Tucker of Scotia, Lucas Tucker and his wife, Kirstin of Ballston Spa, Rena Larson and her husband, Shane of Dallas, Texas and Anna Seerey of Texas; her great-great, grandchildren, Samantha and Avery Tucker and Liam and Luna Larson;her nephew, Henry Merrill of Endicott; and a special granddaughter in law, Martha Krause of Texas.

Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14 at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15 at St. Mary’s/ St. Paul’s Church, on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at West Glens Falls Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Mary and Kris, who cared for her with so much love.

Brenda Lee (Granger) VanDoran

VanDoran, BrendaQUEENSBURY – Brenda Lee (Granger) VanDoran, 55, of Queensbury, went home to be with her husband Jim, on August 9, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on November 23, 1960, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Dorothy (Palmer) Granger. Brenda was a graduate of Hudson Falls High school.

She was united in marriage to Jim VanDoran on December 31, 2005, in the Glens Falls Hospital.

Brenda was employed by Boston Scientific in Queenbury. She was a talented cake decorator, and she would volunteer to make people different cakes for many occasions. Brenda then took her decorating skills and started worked for the Hannaford Bakery on Broad Street. She attended Living Waters Church of God. Brenda also volunteered her time doing mailings for cancer and diabetes charities. She loved to donate and support law enforcement. Brenda enjoyed karaoke, online bingo, crocheting, cooking, crafts, her dogs, camping and sitting around the campfires. She loved to laugh and never complained throughout her illness. Above all, her children were her life to which she set an amazing example to them with a “never give up” attitude. People who knew her can say throughout the loss of her husband and her illness she stayed a positive example for her loved ones.

Besides her parents, Brenda was predeceased by her husband, Jim VanDoran; and her two brothers, Burton Granger, and Stanley Granger.

Survivors include her three children: Daniel Ryan VanDoran of Queensbury, Amber Jane VanDoran and her companion, Nick Palmateer of Queensbury, and Jimmy Burton VanDoran of Queensbury; her sisters: Barbara Bradshaw and her husband, Charles of Malta, Wendy Warner of West Palm Beach, FL, and Kathy Wright and her husband, Keith of South Glens Falls; her special brother and sister in law, Pat and Ronnie Burch of Queensbury; and her nieces and nephews: Charles Bradshaw, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Corinth, Melissa Shiffert of South Glens Falls, Steven Warner and his wife, Susan of West Palm Beach, FL, Ryan Warner of Queensbury, Leslie Mahr and her husband, Ray of Ballston Sap, Katrina Putney of South Glens Falls, Kristen Wright of South Glens Falls, and Laurie Granger of Vermont.

Terri Lynn LaPoint

JACKSON – Terri Lynn LaPoint, 62, of the Town of Jackson, passed away on Friday August 5, 2016, at her home.

 

Born on July 26, 1954, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Sally Frye and the late John C. Brown.

 

Terri received a bachelor’s degree from Empire State College, and received her licensure through the State of New York as a substance abuse counselor. She was employed by the Hope House in Albany where she helped others as a counselor. Most importantly to her though, was the time spent with her family and her grandchildren.

 

In addition to her father, Terri was predeceased by her brother, William “Billy” Brown.

 

She is survived by her husband, Tom LaPoint of Jackson; Daughter Jennifer Rock and her husband, James of Hudson Falls; her stepson Benjamin LaPoint and his significant other, Samantha of Gansevoort; her grandchildren Donald James Thomas Rock, Holly Anne Morgan Rock; Step-grandchildren: Benjamin LaPoint, Jr., Laura, and Eric; Great-Grandchildren: Charli Elizabeth, Zane Jordan VanGundy, Renegade Rose Rock; her brother John Brown and his wife, Kathleen of Hudson Falls; her sister Sally Brown-Frost and her significant other, Jason Payette of Greenfield, Mass.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by the light of her life, Arthur D. LaPoint.

 

There will be no public calling hours.

 

Memorial Services will be held at 2 PM on Friday at the Zion Episcopal Church in Hudson Falls.

 

A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

Albert Elmer Hart

Hart, AlbertHUDSON FALLS – Albert Elmer Hart, 69, of Hudson Falls, went into the arms of the Lord on Monday, August 8, 2016.

Born on July 11, 1947, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Edward and Lucy (Morehouse) Hart, Sr.

Albert attended Hartford Central School District and Hudson Falls High School. He was married to Lauren Diffee. For over 25 years Albert was employed at the Roadway Express in Albany as a truck driver. He was also a part of the Teamsters #294 in Albany. In his younger years he attended St. Paul’s Church. He was especially fond of the outdoors and enjoyed his camp in North Hudson, hunting, and fishing. He liked NASCAR and watching basketball. Above all, Albert loved spending time with his grandkids in North Hudson.

In addition to his parents, Albert is predeceased by his daughter, Debbie Rossi; and his sister, Evelyn Hart.

He is survived by his wife, Lauren Hart of Hudson Falls; his two children: Albert E. Hart, Jr. and his companion Jamie Blair of Hudson Falls, and Brian Hart and his companion, Teresa Jones of Hudson Falls; his grandchildren: Anthony Rossi, Jr., Mark Hart, Hailey Hart, Hope Hart, Charlie Hart, Brock, Cameron, and Lasandra Stansfield; the mother of Hope, Hailey, and Mark: Rose O’Donnell; his great-grandchild Oliver Jon Rossi; his Brothers: Edward Hart, Jr. and his wife, Anna of Hudson Falls, and Arthur Hart of Hudson Falls; his son in law Anthony Rossi; many sisters in law and brothers in law; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; many friends at the North Hudson campground; and his special brother in law, Darl Diffee.

Friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Friday in Union Cemetery.

Donations in Albert’s name can be made out to the C.R.Wood Cancer Center at 100 Park Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801.

NaceQUEENSBURY – Elizabeth “Bibsy” (Raff) Nace, 65, of Queensbury, passed away with her husband and her daughter at her side on Wednesday, August 3, 2016.

Born on June 12, 1951, in Montclair, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Dippey) Raff, Jr.

Bibsy was a 1973 graduate of Skidmore College, receiving her BA in Biology and later received her Masters of Education from SUNY Plattsburg.    While at Skidmore, she was President of the outing club, where she met her future husband, who was President of the RPI outing club.  Following her graduation, they were married on April 20, 1974 in Verona, NJ. 

Bibsy was a stay at home mom when her daughter was young.   She also wore many hats in her careers as a secretary, a legal abstractor, a bookkeeper, a riding instructor, a substitute teacher and a teacher’s aide.

She was very active in several organizations, including, ENYDCTA-Eastern New York Dressage and Combine Training Association, where she was twice named Member of the Year.  Bibsy became a member of the organization at its inauguration 30 plus years ago.   She also belonged to the Albany Obedience Club for Dogs, the AAUW – American Association of University Women, and their literary club.  Bibsy was also a member of the Queensbury United Methodist Church.

She loved dog training and showing and, sailing.  She was active in the Lake George Corinthian Yacht Club and was editor of their newsletter for many years.  She enjoyed racing and has won the Lake George Lady’s Cup race and also with her husband, twice won the Lake George Invitational.

Her greatest love was for horses.  She spent many years of her life riding, caring for, and showing horses.  She shared her passion with her daughter, Ella, and they spent many years  together at the barn

Survivors include her husband, Thomas W. Nace of Queensbury; a daughter, Ella (Nace) Wolocki and her husband, Mark of San Antonio, TX; a brother, John L. Raff, III of NJ; her dog, Belle; her cat, Sammy; various nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.

Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the Queensbury United Methodist Church, Aviation Road in Queensbury, with the Rev. Phil Phaneuf, pastor officiating.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

dad at lexi luau (2)PHILMONT – Timothy John Simpson, Sr., 58, of Philmont, NY, passed away on Friday July 29, 2016 surrounded by family and friends.

Born August 4, 1957, he was the son of the late Vincent Clark Simpson, Sr. and Margaret Bessie Simpson (Allen).

Besides his parents, Timothy was predeceased by his brother Jeffery Simpson and his sisters Sally Tompkins (Simpson) and Kathy Colvin (Simpson).

Tim was a house painter for over 35 collective years. He was proud of his work and his clients, always boasting about their accomplishments.

Fishing was his favorite hobby and his skill (some called it luck) has yet to be rivaled. Fish stories abound but these tales were true. Tim also spent time playing poker. His insightfulness (some called it luck) won him many hands, but he has never lost a friend. Tim also found joy in the silver screen and usually went to the movies at least 3 times a week. He liked to bring others with him to also enjoy the films and at times went to the same movie more than once if he really liked it. In 1994, he saw The Lion King in theater 5 times. Tim stayed active. He played semi-pro football in his younger days and then on to pick-up games of football, basketball, and baseball with the neighborhood kids. Sports were a big part of his life and he enjoyed watching his favorite teams the Yankees and the Cowboys. Summers were always fun as a trip to The Great Escape was a family tradition. He enjoyed the shows, especially the country western song and dances. Tim (known as Big Tim by neighborhood kids) was a kind man who saw the good in everyone and tried to fix all of their problems. Many people have learned valuable life lessons with his sound advice and have done better for themselves because of his encouragement. Time spent with his family brought Tim happiness and he cherished every moment. He watched countless sports games, attended recitals, plays, and ceremonies. He was proud of those he loved, proud to be part of his family, and proud to call you his friend.

Survivors include his daughter, Sharin Lee Duarte (Simpson); his son Timothy John Simpson, Jr; his daughter Holly Lee Busta (Simpson) and her husband Scott, and sons Mitchell Thomas and Johnathan Michael LaBounty; his grandchildren Kayley, Trenton, Nathan, Raven, Joshua, Alexandria, Jeffrey, MacKenzie and Zachary and his great-grandson Roman; his siblings, Frank Simpson and his wife, Cynthia, of

Camden, Del.; Margaret “Peggy” Wade (Simpson) and her significant other, Pete Northup, of Hudson Falls; Vincent “Butch” Simpson Jr.

and his wife, Beth, of Philmont, N.Y.; Kelly Webster (Simpson) and her husband, John, of Hudson Falls and Michelle Simpson and her significant

other, Melissa Knight, of Saratoga; as well as aunts, uncles, and several cousins, nieces. and nephews.

Family and friends may call from 12 to 2 and 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 am on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
