George Thomas Grubb

Grubb, George2ARGYLE – George Thomas Grubb, 66, of Argyle, passed away Thursday February 2, 2017, at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness.

George was born November 16,1950, in Abington, PA, to the late Charles and Helen (Kirby) Grubb.  He attended Lansdale Catholic High School and was an all-star baseball player, playing from the time he was a little boy until his mid-twenties. George loved sports and if he wasn’t playing them he was watching them. In 1978 his journey took him to Las Vegas, where he worked for Young’s Masonry, building miles and miles of block walls. In 1989, he moved to South Glens Falls and continued his career with Bast Hatfield. George was a man of many talents and his sense of humor was unlike any other. He lived his life to the fullest and that made for some funny stories to share. You could hear the same stories again and again and still laugh with him about them. He had a long list of sayings and phrases that he used wittily.

George enjoyed betting the horses, football pools, and watching any sport that was playing on TV, with his friends in Argyle. He loved phone calls from his family and cherished every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He made sure his family knew how much he loved them and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

George is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Helen (Kirby) Grubb.

He is survived by his four children, George Grubb of Lake Tahoe, CA, Heather Grubb of Las Vegas, NV, Robert Grubb of Hudson Falls, and Rachael Grubb of Queensbury; his grandchildren, Jamilyn, Dylan, Jacob, Chloe, and Lucas; his great-granddaughters, Gwendolyn and Clementine; his brother, James (Jimmy) Grubb; and sisters, Peggy Flaherty, Barbara Bartlett, and Joanne Grubb; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Edwin Orlie Bates

Bates, EdwinGLENS FALLS – Edwin Orlie Bates, 62, of Glens Falls passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Born April 8, 1954, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Shirley Bates of Queensbury and the late Loren “Pete” Bates.

Edwin was a very well known, top notch mechanic in the area, for Fort Edward Express and Verizon Phone Company. He was always working on someone’s car. Edwin loved old antique cars and could tell you the year, make, and model of any old car. He loved going to car shows.

From his brother, Dave Bates:

“Porky & Squirt, that’s who we are known as thanks to the old man. We were way more than brothers, way more. We really became buddies back when Ed was 5 and I was 3. I’ll never forget the time we stripped to our underwear and painted ourselves silver with the old man’s roofing paint. Somehow, Uncle Hank came up and clean us up. That was 57 years ago; we never stopped being best friends – so long Ed, I love you so, Porky.”

In addition to his father, Edwin is predeceased by his two uncles, Tom Hall, and Henry Hall; his sister-in-law, Alice Bates; his nephew, Christopher Bates; and his two special friends, Richard DiDio, and Martin DiDio.

Survivors include his two daughters, Tami Allen and her significant other, David O’Malley of Glens Falls, and Tonya Gibilaro and her husband, Kris of South Glens Falls; his grandchildren, T.J. Allen, Danielle O’Malley, Skyler O’Malley, Brielle Gibilaro, and Aiden Gibilaro; his brother, David Bates of Glens Falls; his sister, Pam VanGuilder and her husband, Jim of Queensbury; his sister, Donna Meyers and her significant other, Joe Funk of Gansevoort; his sister, Robin Bates and her significant other, Mike Robinson of Stony Creek; his brother Pete Bates and his wife, Karyn of South Glens Falls, his sister Kathy Rawson and her husband, Ted of Queensbury; his sister, Nancy Brown and her husband, Gil of Glens Falls; his brother, Herb Bates and his significant other, Tricia Stark of Hudson Falls; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home Inc. located at 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will follow immediately after calling hours at 4 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Reverend Flossie Bates officiating.

A burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

MaryAnne Mundell

MundellGLEN FALLS – MaryAnne Mundell, 51, of Warren Street, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on April 18, 1957 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Cora Bell (Mabb) Mundell.

MaryAnne was a graduate of Glens Falls High School.   Growing up she attended the Church of the Messiah in Glens Falls. MaryAnn enjoyed volunteering at the church, working raffles and at many gatherings.

She was a stay at home mom who is remembered for being very supportive of her children. They were her number one priority in her life. MaryAnne was loving, caring and always looking out for them. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed taking care and being part of their lives.  MaryAnn was a very strong woman who never took lip from anyone.  She always stood her ground, whether she was right or wrong.

In addition to her parents, MaryAnne was predeceased by her brother, Paul Mundell and her great nephew, James C. Cook.

Survivors include, her loving friend, Henry Ellsworth of Glens Falls; her children, Daniel Wilkins of Glens Falls, Amy Sutliff of Queensbury, Stacey Sutliff of Queensbury, Katrine Harrington of Lake Luzerne, and Max Harrington, Jr. of Glens Falls; her grandchildren, Kiara-Lee Eggleston, Savannah Gilligan, Nathaniel Gilligan, Brittany Walker, Dylan Sutliff, Brendon Sutliff, Shauna Sutliff, Stephen Suttliff, Hope Darrah, Kevin Wilkins, Savannah Harrington, and one on the way; her siblings, Harry Mundell, Jr, Ella Barrett and her husband, James, Randy Harris and her husband, Ben, John Mundell, Delbert Mundell, and Ruth Mundell Couture; her niece, Helen Barrett and her son, Carter James Barrett; and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Frederick V. Hicks

Hicks, FrederickGANSEVOORT – Frederick V. “Bud” Hicks, of Gansevoort, passed away on Friday morning, January 27, 2017 at home, with his wife by his side.

Born on February 9, 1935 on the family farm at Hicks Orchard, in the town of Granville, he was the only son of the late Charles and Mae (Taylor) Hicks.

Fred attended Granville School, leaving after his Junior year, to join the Army.  He earned his GED and became a parachutist in the 82nd Airborne.  Fred served in the Army becoming a Master Parachutist, then enlisted in the Air Force.  He proudly served as an Airman, where he and his wife, Bev, moved from South Carolina, to Newburg, to Maine, then Texas, then Tennessee, then Plattsburg, then Florida, then Virginia and finally to Gansevoort.  Fred served tirelessly during Vietnam, flying airman and supplies back and forth to Vietnam.   Sadly, he also flew home casualties back home to the States.  Culminating his service, he flew aboard Air Force Two under President Nixon, in the Military Airlift Command, as the flight engineer.   Fred loved to fly and missed it greatly after his retirement from the Air Force.

After his military retirement, he worked at Sears and enjoyed repairing small engines.

Fred was a favorite uncle known affectionally as “Uncle Bud”.   He was always so full of life.  His family and friends will remember him as a Jokester.  Fred was so much fun to be around and always the life of the party.    Although he was so very proud and loved serving his country, the center of Fred’s life was his family.  He took wonderful care of his those he loved, and was always so generous.  Fred “Bud” will be remembered for his fun loving spirit and sense of humor.

In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his sisters, Gretchen Braymer, Barbara Liebig and Joan Brownell.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Beverly (Corlew) Hicks of Gansevoort; his sister, Florence Tomlinson and her husband, Paul of Salem; his daughter, Connie Wilson and her husband, Wade of Buckeye, Arizona; his son, Kenneth Hicks and his wife, Tammy of South Glens Falls; his grandchildren, Jodi Hoenig and her husband, Joe, Richard Cunningham and his fiancée, Machie Lella, Kevin Hicks and his fiancée, Michaelee Scarincio, Jaime Hicks, Miles Mandwelle and Jordan Mandwelle; his great grandchildren, Taylor Mason, Kate Mason and Brody Hicks; one great great grandchild, Bradley Taylor; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the South Glens Falls United Methodist Church, 15 Maplewood Parkway in South Glens Falls, with Rev, William Puckey, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow at 12:30 P.M., at Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.

Jean S. Olton

Olton, JeanLOUDONVILLE & LAKE GEORGE – Jean S. Olton, 99, of Loudonville and Lake George, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24, 2017.

Born on October 7, 1917 in Ashtabula, Ohio, she attended school at Oberlin College in Ohio.

Jean was married to Dirck Joseph Olton for several wonderful years, before he died on January 22, 1997.  She arrived in the Capital District in 1950, where her husband became a Manager at Behr Manning (Norton Company).

Jean had a remarkable career spanning some forty years.  She was a volunteer, writer, educator, planner, promoter and above all, a tireless advocate for historic preservation.

While raising two sons, Jean was active in community activities in the Troy and Albany areas.  She was one of the founders of the Colonie Town Library and the Friends of Schuyler Mansion State Historic Site.  In 1969, Jean was appointed as the Colonie Town Historian and she soon began the planning of the 75th Anniversary of the naming of the town.  In this role, she began collecting and cataloging volumes of items from photographs and newspaper articles to source materials recording events and sites in this area.   In 1976, she participated in the Bicentennial and promoted the building of the covered bridge in the town park.  Jean focused interest on preserving historic cemeteries and also ruins of the Erie Canal.  She attended numerous seminars and meeting of historians across the state, always taking accurate notes and then returning to Colonie with new insights and plans.   Perhaps most notable, she compiled the photos and information that became the book entitled “The Town of Colonie, Pictorial History”.

In 1971, through the archeological project at Schuyler Flatts, she joined with others in a decision to form the Historical Society of the Town of Colonie.  This group regularly presents programs and lectures to promote awareness of the history of the area.  Jean delighted in learning about the community of the Shakers and was one of the founding members of the Shaker Heritage Society.  In 1972, she wrote the specifications for the acceptance of the Shaker site on the National Register of Historic Places.

In 1983, Jean began a project close to her heart.   She proposed a feasibility study and that a committee be appointed to purchase and restore the Pruyn House. The Pruyn House, was a historic privately owned home, located in the town of Colonie.  Her hard work paid off and the project was a success. Upon the completion of the restoration, the town historian’s office was moved to the Pruyn House and Jean became the acting director of the House for the next twelve years.  Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Jean and all those involved with this project, have seen this facility develop, grow and thrive as an educational, cultural and social center.

For more than thirty years, Jean was instrumental in preserving and developing Schuyler Flatts as a recreation area with walkways and bicycle paths.  It is now maintained for educational exhibits and appreciation of the riverfront.  Her dream became a reality in 2002, when Schuyler Flatts Cultural Park was opened.

For those who have worked with and had the pleasure of being in her company, Jean will forever be known for her quiet dignity and composure, her kindness and commitment.  She dedicated her life to the preservation of history in her community.   Jean also loved spending sunny summer days at their home on Lake George with her family.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility for the wonderful care, compassion and love given to Jean and her family.

Those left to carry on her memory include her two sons, Marc Barrett Olton and his partner, Donna Miller of Kingsbury and Dirck David Olton and his wife, Carol of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Jean’s life will be held at a later date at Pruyn House, 207 Old Niskayuna Road, Latham, NY  12110.

Burial will be at Memory Gardens, 983 Watervliet Shaker Road, Albany.

Dale A. McCrea

GLENS FALLS – Dale McCrea, 77, of Glens Falls passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

She was born on May 19, 1939 in Glens Falls.

Dale served a s bartender at many area locations and then worked in the Maintenance Department of the Glens Falls hospital.

She enjoyed writing, arts and crafts and especially ceramics and working with driftwood. She also Loved to Laugh.

She is survived by her son, Robert Lance and his wife, Mary Lou, of Amsterdam; her grandson Brian Lance and his two children, Katie and Sara Lance; two sisters, Amy Woodard of Queensbury and Celeste Bryton of Maine; nieces Renee and Stephanie Woodard (Amy) and Kim Fontaine (Celeste), great nephews, nieces, cousins and Aunt Betty Rollo

Rita A. (Nicholson) French

French, RitaSOUTH GLENS FALLS – Rita A. (Nicholson) French, 90, of South Glens Falls, passed away on Friday, January, 20, 2017, at Saratoga Hospital.

Born on November 21, 1926, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Elizabeth “Betty” (Wells) Nicholson.

Rita was a graduate of Adirondack Community College, receiving her RN degree in 1967. She obtained her administrative license for nursing homes and attended Florida International University to further her nursing education. In 1971, she opened Eden Park Nursing Home, now called The Pines, on Warren Street in Glens Falls, serving as an administrator. In 1976, Rita moved to Florida, and served as Administrator for Easter Manor Nursing Home in Fort Pierce, FL. She was also an adjunct faculty for the Nursing Department at Indian River Community College in Fort Pierce. Upon returning to Glens Falls, Rita returned to the medical field, working for Dr. Thomas Coppens, MD at Irongate Center, then finally retiring for the 4th time.

Her husband George E. French, passed away in 1990.

Rita was a communzzicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s. She enjoyed gardening, roses and boating. Rita especially loved her grandchildren and was considered the family historian.

In addition to her parents and husband, Rita is predeceased by her two children, Thomas E. French in 2008, and Richard M. French in 2006; her daughter-in-law, Susanne French in 2012; and her sister Patricia LaBelle in 2007.

Survivors include, her daughter, Cynthia French of South Glens Falls; her son, Daniel M. French and his wife, Kristine of Colorado; her son Vincent M. French and his wife, Vickie of Florida; her grandchildren: Christine Mitchell of Florida, David French of Florida, Adam French of Colorado, Kyle French of Colorado, Elanna French of Colorado, Janean Sisler of Florida, Richard French, II of Florida, Vanessa Chosewood of Florida, Andrew French of Florida, Jessica Ansel of Florida; 14 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; her brother, Richard Nicholson and his wife, Kay of Queensbury; her sister, Corleen Daly and her husband, Leonard of Kingsbury; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Friends are invited to call on Friday from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. at 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday at 11 am at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls, with the Reverend Thomas Babiuch officiating.

The Rite of Committal will take place at the family’s convenience.

Robert L. “Deano” Dean, Sr.

Dean, Robert Sr.QUEENSBURY – Robert L. “Deano” Dean, Sr., 65, of Queensbury passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loved ones after a short battle with cancer.

Born on August 31, 1951, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Irving and Mary (Livingston) Dean.

Bob graduated from Queensbury High School in 1969. He went on to continue his education at the General Electric Plant Engineering Craftsman Apprenticeship Program.

He worked at General Electric for over a decade, followed by Encore, IP, and retired in 2014 from IBEW Local 236 in Albany as an electrician.

Bob was a member and past president of the West Glens Falls Volunteer Fire Co. in the late 70s to early 80s. He was a long time little league coach for all four of his kids. His hobbies included hunting and fishing at his beloved camp in Minerva, and more recently at his new camp in Ticonderoga. As he moved on in his retirement he could be found on the links of Kingswood or Pole Valley. One of his favorite things to do was to go on boat rides with his friends and family, especially his five granddaughters. Bob loved to watch sports, cheering for the NY Yankees and Miami Dolphins. Deano was very well known for his sense of humor. Bob recently found happiness caring for his small Yorkshire terrier, Yogi, which was surprising to all.

He was predeceased most recently by his youngest son and hunting buddy, Shawn M. Dean, who he missed dearly. He was proud of all his children but especially loved watching Shawn follow in his footsteps to complete a tool maker apprenticeship at General Electric.

He was also predeceased by his parents, Irving Dean, Sr. and Mary Dean; his two brothers, Irving Dean, Jr. and Earl Fordrung; and his sister, Ella Danahy.

Bob is survived by his children: Robert L. Dean, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer Dean of Queensbury, Angela Dean and her fiancé, Ronnie Diffee of South Glens Falls, and Stephanie Dean and her partner, David Carletta of Rochester; his granddaughters, Haylee Williams, Alivia Dean, Finley Dean, Cambria Dean, and Kennedy Dean; his longtime companion, Lucy Elder of Queensbury, who was a blessing to him, and her children Lisa Stewart and her husband, Taylor, Luke Elder and his companion, Rebecca, and TJ Elder; his siblings, Geraldine Mound, Floyd Dean and his wife, Doreen, Earl Dean and his wife, Linda, James Dean and his wife, Janet; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc at 68 Main Street.

A Funeral Mass for Bob will take place on Friday at 11 am at Our Lady of Annunciation in Queensbury, with Reverend Joseph Busch, pastor, officiating.

Thelma (Barlow) Condon

Condon, ThelmaHUDSON FALLS – Thelma (Barlow) Condon, 93, a longtime Hudson Falls resident, on Saturday, January 21, 2017, in Cummings, Ga.

Born on May 22, 1923, in South Glens Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Grace (Kingsley) Barlow.

She was a graduate of Pottersville High School and then attended Plattsburgh Normal School.

Thelma served in The United States Army (WAC) during World War II.

On October 19, 1946, she married Leo Condon at the Zion Episcopal Church in Hudson Falls.  Leo passed away April 4, 1994.

She worked for the US Catheter Co. for 10 years in Glens Falls.

Thelma was a member of the Zion Episcopal Church in Hudson Falls and enjoyed reading, gardening and walking.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by a son, Dennis Condon in 1969, a son, David Condon, in 2001, a brother, Duane Barlow, during the Korean Conflict, and a brother, Vincent Barlow.

Survivors include her sons, Larry P. Condon of Sautee Nacoochee, GA, Edward Condon of Hudson Falls; a daughter Joann Kauk, of Cumming, GA; 4 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 4 PM to 6 PM on Wednesday January 25, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will take place at 6 PM on Wednesday January 25 at the funeral home with Father Arthur Peters, officiating..

Spring Interment (with military honors) will take place at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Courtney Walsh

HUDSON FALLS – Courtney Walsh, 72, of Hudson Falls, checked off the last item on his bucket list on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at Albany Medical Center.

Minnie Rosati

Rosati 1Rosati 2SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Minnie Rosati, 85, of Grant Road, went into the arms of the Lord on Monday, January 16, 2017, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on October 13, 1931, at the family home in South Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Diana (DeVirgeles) Rosati.

Minnie began her education at St Mary’s School in Hudson Falls until the eighth grade, and then graduated from Hudson Falls High School.

Following high school, she was employed at W.T. Grant, formerly in Hudson Falls, Imperial Color, formerly in Queensbury, Coca Cola Bottling Plant, formerly in South Glens Falls, and retired from C.R. Bard in Queensbury.    Minnie was a member of the “C.R. Bard birthday girls,” who went out to dinner for each of their birthdays every year.   Following retirement, she worked for K-Mart.     Minnie loved working for K-Mart because they treated her like family.   They celebrated her every birthday with a cake.    She made many lifelong friends there.

Minnie was a faithful member of St. Michael The Archangel Church in South Glens Falls.

Minnie was the caregiver of her family.     She took loving care of her mother, father, brothers and sister.    Minnie would go out of her way to help anyone she could.   The center of her world were her grandsons, the joy of her life.   There is no doubt, the sun rose and set with them.     Through her life, Minnie was blessed with a wonderful family and caring friends.   One of her favorite times with her family, was celebrating Christmas Eve.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Josephine Ballard; her brothers, Fred Rosati, Vincent Rosati, Phil Rosati and John Rosati; her niece, Nancy Ballard and her sister in law, Shirley Rosati.

Survivors include her daughter, Robin McDougall and her husband, John; her grandchildren, John McDougall, Jr and Thomas McDougall; her adopted grandson, David McDougall, III; her sister, Rosemarie Rosati; two brothers, Dominick Rosati and Louis Rosati and his wife, Beverly; her sisters in law, Nancy Rosati, Faye Rosati and Sharon Blanford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Sunday, January 22, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2017 at St. Michael the  Archangel Church in South Glens Falls, Rev. Guy A. Childs, pastor, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will be in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.

Nassivera 1 Nassivera 2HUDSON FALLS – Susanne E. (Cutler) Nassivera, 81, of William Street in Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at her home.

Born on April 22, 1935, in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Harriet (Hill) Cutler.

Susanne was the salutatorian of the Fort Edward High School, class of 1953. On September 2, 1956, she was united in marriage to John Nassivera, at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.

Susanne worked for Continental Insurance in Glens Falls, Fannie Farmers at Aviation Mall, and she was the owner and operator of Nassivera’s Inn in Hudson Falls.

She ran the Hudson Falls Little League Ladies Auxiliary. Susanne always put others before herself. She had a passion for giving. Christmas was her favorite time of year. This year alone, she gave 82 gifts, each bought for a specific person in her life, and each gift had a special meaning from her. Susanne was an avid reader and enjoyed all kinds of different books. She was also a fantastic storyteller and the family historian, sharing her vast knowledge. Susanne loved passing along stories of her past, and keeping up on and celebrating the achievements and benchmarks of her family and friends. Susanne was the “original Facebook.” She was known as a gentle soul and always thought of others. Susanne would open her home to take in or care for others in their times of need.

In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her sister, Patricia Ryan and her husband, Edward; her brother, Warren Cutler; and her sister-in-law, Ann Nassivera.

Survivors include her loving husband of 60 wonderful years, John Nassivera; her children, John (Cathy) Nassivera, Cyndi (James) Reynolds, Thomas (Betty) Nassivera, Michael (Robin) Nassivera, Francis (Karen) Nassivera, Anthony Nassivera, Christina (Sean) Bjork and Helen (Mike) Lowey; her grandchildren, John Nassivera, Cassie (Brendon) Hackett, Alison (Christopher) Martel, Pamela Cordes, Patrick Cordes, Chelsea Cordes, Craig Herald, Lucia (Jeff) Whitehouse, Luke Herald, Isabella Nassivera, Antonio Nassivera, Andrea (Josh) Gifford, Gina Nassivera, Michael Nassivera, Franky Nassivera, Dominic Nassivera, Olivia Nassivera, Massimo Nassivera, Amelie Nassivera, Robert Bjork, Christian Bjork, Jacob Lowey, and Ethan Lowey; her great grandchildren, Aaron Gifford, Kaylee Herald, Ellee Herald, Gavin Whitehouse and Samuel Martel; her sister-in-law, Caroline Cutler; her brother-in-law, Morris Nassivera; and numerous nieces and nephews, which includes her special niece, Rhonda DeMarsh.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. located at 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls, and with the Reverend Thomas Babiuch, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will take place in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

The family suggests that donations in Susanne’s name may be made to The Village Baptist Church, 131 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.

Kathryn A. James

James, KathrynQUEENSBURY – Kathryn James, 44, of Woodland Path, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at her home.

Born on August 18, 1972 in Homestead, FL, she was the daughter of  Mary (Benoit) Bailey.

Kathryn worked hard and was very proud to have received her high school diploma.

On August 13, 2011, she married the love of her life, Duane Neil James, Jr. in Crandall Park.

When Kathryn was younger, she was employed at Boston Scientific in Queensbury.  She worked there for ten years and made many friends.

Kathryn was a very active woman who loved to tend to her flower and vegetable gardens and go fishing with her husband, Duane. She also was a wonderful cook, who could throw together a party in an instant.  The holidays were very special to Kathryn, when she would bake tasty treats and spend time with her family.   She was a talented seamstress and created beautiful quilts.   Kathryn was a spiritual person who enjoyed listening to windchimes and collecting dream catchers. 

The center of her life was her family.  She was an extraordinary wife, and excellent mother, who was always there as a fantastic listener and ready with good advice. Her grandchildren filled her life with love.

Survivors include her loving husband, Duane Neil James, Jr. of Queensbury; her daughters, Christa Aldrich and her husband, Michael and their son, Stephen, all of Fort Edward, Jessica Sleight and her companion, Shawn Rath of Warrensburg and Rebecca Russell and her husband, Joshua and their daughter, Ellie of Queensbury; her mother, Mary (Benoit) Bailey; her longtime best friend, Andrea Dumas; her sister, Julie Izzo and her husband, Justin; her nieces and nephew, Noah, Autumn and Audrey Izzo; her mother in law, Norma Sleight; her faithful pets, Iggy and Maggie; and several other siblings and good friends.

Friends may call on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 10 to 12, Noon at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 12 Noon, following the calling hours at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at PineView Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.
