Rose M. Henderson

Henderson, RoseFORT EDWARD – Rose M. Henderson passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 16, 2017, surrounded by her family.

Born on July 29, 1927 in Glens Falls she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lena (Guerin) Henderson.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward.

Rose worked at General Electric in Hudson Falls for 41 years, retiring in June of 1987.   She was a proud member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club.

Rose was very active throughout her life.   She was an avid bowler, who bowled for over 70 years in many leagues. Rose also enjoyed golf for over 40 years and played in leagues at T-Bird and Sunnyside Par 3.    She loved her show birds and participated at the Washington County Fair, showing her poultry for 55 years.  Rose bred and raised shelties for show and in her spare time loved gardening, fishing and hunting.

Besides her parents, Rose was predeceased by her brother, James Henderson, her twin sister, Ruth Willard, her brother in law, James Parker and her special friend, Joseph O’Sick.

She is survived by her sister, Jean Parker of South Glens Falls; her brother, Robert Henderson and his wife, Theresa of West Palm Beach, Florida; several nieces and nephews; and her extended family.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to Dr. Gillani, Elizabeth Reinhardt and all the nurses at the Infusion Center at the Glens Falls Hospital, for the wonderful care and compassion given to Rose and her family.

Friends may call on Monday from 11 to 2 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, following the calling hours at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Union Cemetery the town of Fort Edward.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Washington County 4H, Cornell Cooperative Extension Washington Co., 415

Eleanor M. Huguley

Hugeley, EleanorHUDSON FALLS – Eleanor Marie Huguley, 88, of Hudson Falls, went into the arms of the Lord, on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on July 8, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Madalyn (Carpenter) Smith.

On August 18, 1945, she married Albert Charles Huguley at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls.

Eleanor loved to laugh and be around her family and friends, she was always ready to hug them.

She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, bingo and going to horse races.

In addition to her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her brother, William “Bill” Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Albert C. Huguley, Sr.  of Hudson Falls; her children, Albert C. Huguley, Jr. and his fiancée, Barbara Sheehan of Hudson Falls and Theresa M. St. John and her husband, Philip of South Glens Falls; her grandchildren, Albert C. Huguley, III, and his wife, Candy of Hudson Falls, Michael Huguley and his wife, Linda of Glens Falls, Susan Lee Keith and her husband, Terry of Fort Ann and Jason St. John and his wife, Faith of Argyle; several great grandchildren; her sister, Peggy Waite of Hudson Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 5p.m.  at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

All other services will be private.

Leslie H. Wood

Wood, LeslieHUDSON FALLS – Leslie “Les” H. Wood, 99, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully, on November 5, 2017, in the home that he built, with his family around him.

Les, also known as Herb, Papa, and Big Old PaPa was born on April 24, 1918 in Indian Lake, the son of the late Laura Wood Hammond and the late Elvis E. Wood.  He spent his early childhood in Indian Lake then grew up in Glens Falls, graduating from Glens Falls High School in 1936.  He delivered the newspaper while attending school, then worked in the local clothing industry before being accepted into the apprentice program at General Electric in Schenectady.  He was there when he enlisted in the Navy, following the Pearl Harbor attack.

He trained at Samson Naval Training Base and at Naval Station Great Lakes, and then participated in securing Tinian Island in the Northern Mariana Islands.  As a Naval Storekeeper, he was responsible for maintaining stores of engines, airframe components and all other parts needed to keep aircraft operating from what became the biggest air base in the world during World War II.

After the war, Les returned to GE in Schenectady, where he met Jean M. Pulver, whom he married on June 7, 1947 at Christ Church United Methodist in Glens Falls.  At GE, he was part of the very first Value Analysis team using principles and practices that have since grown into an entire branch of engineering focused on reducing the cost of achieving a required function in a manufactured or constructed system.  Les, a Free and Accepted Mason of the Beukendaal Lodge in Scotia, retired from GE in 1980 and he and Jean built their retirement home in Hudson Falls.  They enjoyed cruising northern Lake George, Schroon Lake and Indian Lake in their powerboat and travelled the country in their pick-up camper but they were always home for the fall leaves and balloon festival.  Les particularly enjoyed hunting the mountains of the Big Brook and Cedar River sections of Indian Lake, as well as fishing the brooks, ponds and lakes in the Town of Indian Lake where they also maintained a get-away cabin.  Where ever he was, Sunday night was Popcorn Night at PaPa’s and all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were invited.

Jean died on their anniversary in 2011.  Les was also predeceased by his son Curtis E. Wood.

Survivors include his sons, James L. Wood and his wife Kathryn of Hudson Falls and David A. Wood and his wife, Jody of Georgetown, ME.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Bret J. Wood, Eric D. Wood and his wife, Christine and Laura J. Van Dien and her husband, Mark as well as six great grandchildren, Madison E. Wood, Ella K. Wood, Mason E. Van Dien, Austyn V. Van Dien, Rowan M. Van Dien and Ryan C. Wood.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls, with the Rev. Michael Bailey, officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow at Pine View Cemetery in the town of Queensbury, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to High Peaks Hospice and Palliative Care, 79 Glenwood Avenue, Queensbury, NY  12804.

Andrew (Andy) Paul Mingo Jr.

Mingo, AndrewHUDSON FALLS – Andrew (Andy) Paul Mingo Jr., 41, of Hudson Falls passed away unexpectedly at 3:30 a.m. on November 3rd, 2017, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Andy was born at Glens Falls Hospital on January 24th, 1976 to Andrew Mingo Sr, and Barbara Saville.

Andy and his wife Virginia Sharpe-Mingo were high school sweet hearts and married on September 4th, 2005. They went on to have two children; a son Dustin Mingo age 22 born April 1st, 1995 and a daughter Mattison Mingo age 12 born January 10th, 2005.

Andy was employed at Finch Pruyn for much of his life, and then was fortunate enough to do what he loved, which was working in his garage on motorcycles, dirt bikes, and anything else with a motor. Andy had many endearing qualities, but most will remember him for his big heart. He was a loving, devoted father who spent most of his time with his sidekick daughter Matti, and son and best friend Dustin teaching them how to ride motorcyles. He spread his love and passion for motorcycles and dirt bikes to everyone he knew. His children have followed in his footsteps also with a love for two wheels.

He spent much of his time playing with his pitbull Isis (Goddess of Fertility) who unconditionally loved him along with his family.

Andy was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Pauline Shores, maternal grandfather Robert Shores, paternal grandmother Bea Mingo, and nephew Dominique D’Angelico.

Andy is survived by his wife, Virginia Sharpe-Mingo; his son, Dustin Mingo; his daughter, Mattison Mingo; his mother, Barbara Saville (Van Sanborn); his father, Andrew Mingo Sr.; his brother Jason Mingo (Courtney Bollman); his sister, Tiffany (Adam) D’Angelico; as well as many aunts, uncles, in-laws, cousins and extended family.

There will be calling hours at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls on Saturday, November 11th from 1:00pm — 3:00pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at ADK MX located at 10709 NY-149, Fort Ann starting at 5:00pm.

At the request of the family in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the local Make A Wish Foundation, 3 Washington Square, Albany, NY 12205.

Gaza “Cy” Silas Bertok Sr.

Bertok, GazaFORT EDWARD – Gaza “Cy” Silas Bertok Sr., 94, of Fort Edward, went to be with his wife and son, on Sunday, November 5, 2017, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on June 16, 1923, in Witherbee, NY, he was the son of the late John M. Bertok, Sr. and Rose (Futo) Bertok.

Cy was a graduate of the Bulova/Taus School of Watchmaking, where he became a certified watchmaker.

On September 28, 1945, he married Marjorie Howell in Farmingdale, Long Island. She passed away on March 23, 2010, after 65 years of marriage.

Before moving to this area, they lived in Port Henry and Seaford, NY.

Cy worked for 15 years in aircraft quality control.  He was director of quality control on the guidance unit and stable platform of the first Thor Missile that flew in the early fifties.   Cy also worked in Medical Facilities Management.  He was most proud of his life’s work of over 60 years, as a jeweler and watchmaker.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, watch collecting and was a member of the NAWCC, The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his son, Gaza S. “Cy” Bertok, Jr. and his two brothers, John M. Bertok and Ernest F. Bertok.

Survivors include his two grandsons; Shaun Bertok and his wife, Diane and Jason Bertok and his wife, Mary; his great granddaughter, Hannah Bertok; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Friday, November 10, 2017, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, at the First Presbyterian Church of Hudson Falls, with the Rev. Michael Plank, pastor, officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow at Union Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife and son.

Catherine “Cathy” A. Benway

Benway, CathyHUDSON FALLS – Catherine “Cathy” A. Benway, 65 of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully, at her home, surrounded by her loving family and friends on Friday, November 3, 2017.

Born on July 18, 1952 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Joanne (Cadotte) Moffitt and the late James Moffitt.

Cathy was a 1970 graduate of Hudson Falls High School, where she was the “best ever” Tiger cheerleader.

Following high school, Cathy loved to travel, visiting her brothers all across the country as they installed cable.   This love of travel continued throughout her life.  For 15 years, the Benway family travelled to Ocean City, Maryland to enjoy the ocean and wonderful times.   As a family, they also loved boating and camping on the islands of Lake George.   A couple of Cathy’s favorite things were eating fried whole belly clams in Maine and especially her Sunday dinners with family.   True to Cathy’s nickname “Martha” for Martha Stewart, her dinners and her home were something that could be in a magazine.

As you could imagine, the center of Cathy’s life was her family and friends.  Her granddaughter, Justice held a special place in “Meme’s” heart.

Cathy loved people.  Her job as a waitress fit her personality perfectly.  She always made the dining experience a truly wonderful time, as Cathy made sure that everything you needed was at your table, most importantly her kindness.

For the past 18 years, Cathy’s workplace and second home was at the Anvil Inn in Fort Edward, where she was loved by every patron and especially her work family.   Other restaurants she worked at over the years included the Portage in Fort Ann, the Blacksmith Shop in Queensbury, and Pudgy’s Pub in Hudson Falls.   She also worked at many of the Moran brother’s businesses including Henry G’s Restaurant and Moran’s Sporting Goods.

Cathy was a beautiful person inside and out.  She had the most loving smile that would light up a room and instantly made you fall in love with her.  Cathy gave such love and support to her family and friends. She had the ability to make those around her feel so very important that when you left her presence, you were the one with the smile on your face.

Cathy was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls and close to her heart was her involvement in Naranon and Friends of Recovery Warren and Washington.

Besides her father, Cathy was predeceased by her brother, Michael Moffitt.

Survivors include her loving husband of 35 wonderful years, Patrick Benway; her mother, Joanne “Nana” Moffitt of Hudson Falls; her son, Ryan Benway and his partner, Chris Batkay of Hudson Falls; her daughter, Andrea Benway of Hudson Falls; the love of her life, her granddaughter, Justice Harris of Hudson Falls; two brothers, Steve Moffitt and his wife, Connie of Bolton Landing and Gary Moffitt and his wife, Patricia of Westminster, MD; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and the wonderful friends and family that gave their amazing support throughout her entire life.

Cathy’s family sends their many thanks to Southern Adirondack Independent Living, the many Doctors and Nurses at the Glens Falls Hospital, High Peaks Hospice and her family at the Anvil Restaurant.  With the love, support and prayers from her family, friends and the entire community, Cathy and the Benway family knew that they were not alone.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

Following the Funeral Mass, everyone is welcome to the Idle Hour Club in Fort Edward.

Earl R. Clemons, Jr.

Douglas “Doug” C. MacIntosh

macintosh olderMacintosh newestHUDSON FALLS – Douglas “Doug” C. MacIntosh, 83, of Notre Dame Street, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Pines in Glens Falls, following a short illness.

He was born on December 7, 1933 in Springfield Gardens, Queens, NY, the son of the Gavin MacIntosh, born in Glasgow, Scotland and May (Allan) MacIntosh, born in Lamlash Island of Arran, Scotland.

He received his B.S. Degree in Industrial Arts at SUNY Oswego and his Masters in Christian Education at the Biblical Seminary, New York City and his Masters of Education Degree at Siena College, Loudonville.

For several years, he was the director of Christian Education and advisor to the Presbyterian Church youth group in Hudson Falls.  He then taught Industrial Arts at the Hudson Falls Junior High for 32 years, where he had been department chairman.

On April 15, 1989, he married Diane Vincent at the First Presbyterian Church in Hudson Falls.

One of his favorite hobbies was bike riding.   In 1985, he took a bike tour of England and in 1988 a tour of France.   He also made several trips through Canada and on many of his trips, he was joined by youth from the community, who affectionately called him “Mr. Mac”.  He loved hiking, cross country skiing and canoeing.  His pride and joy was his wooden Adirondack Canoe.   Doug had fond memories of riding in a horse drawn sleigh around the streets of Hudson Falls.

Diane and Doug, together took two Elderhostel bike trips to Holland and East Anglia in England.  They traveled to Scotland, Ireland and Hawaii and did extensive travels in Europe with London being their favorite city.  They took separate trips to China, Greece and Paris.  Another trip by car took them through the western US with a four day stay at Yellowstone Lodge, viewing Old Faithful.  They have made trips to Canada, especially enjoying Vancouver and Montreal.  They have been on cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska and a Viking River Cruise from Moscow to St. Petersburg.  They both especially loved the charm of Vermont with their favorite day trip being to Manchester, where they honeymooned and began their married life together.

His memberships include the First Presbyterian Church in Hudson Falls, where he sang in the choir and served as Elder for several years.  Doug was also a member of the Hudson Falls Teachers Association, Glens Falls Operetta Club, Camera Club and the Adirondack Mountain Club.    He also served as Scout Master to Troop 55, Board of Education in Hudson Falls, Chairman of Curriculum Committee for 15 years and Chairman of the Kingsbury Planning Board for ten years and a member of the Kingsbury Zoning Board of Appeals.

He was always extremely proud of being a blood donor, starting when he was still in college.  Over the years, he had accumulated Red Cross donor pins, denoting 15 gallons donated, until he could no longer donate due to medications.

Besides his parents, a stillborn infant daughter, Heather and four cousins predeceased him.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Diane Vincent MacIntosh of Hudson Falls; his brother, Robert MacIntosh and wife, Betsy England of San Francisco, CA; two nephews, John MacIntosh and his wife, Sally and David MacIntosh and his wife, Monica; his great-niece, Sarah (MacIntosh) Gencarella; three great nephews, Ryan MacIntosh, Jack MacIntosh and Kevin MacIntosh; and two foster sons, Eric Georgi and Mitch Gibbs.

Friends may call on Wednesday, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Hudson Falls, with the Rev. Michael Plank, pastor, officiating.   Because of his memory of riding in a horse drawn sleigh, Doug will be taken from the Carleton Funeral Home to the Presbyterian Church in a horse drawn hearse.

Following the service, all are invited to a reception put on by the Women’s Association in the downstairs Fellowship Hall at the Church.

Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Argyle.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff on Tower 6 of the Glens Falls Hospital, the Caregivers at the Pines and our church family at the Hudson Falls Presbyterian Church for all their special care and support.

William H. Mears

Mears, WilliamQUEENSBURY – William H. Mears, 92, formerly of The Glen at Hiland Meadows, Queensbury passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA.

Born on January 29, 1925 he was the only child of Howard B. and Gladys (Walling) Mears of Kingsbury. Following his mother’s death from pertussis in 1932, Elsie M. Engwer of Glens Falls became his very caring step-mother in 1934.

Bill was the fourth generation of his family to live on the family farm in Kingsbury. He attended the district grade school in the hamlet of Kingsbury, and was graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1942. He then followed an agricultural career, working with registered Holstein-Friesian cattle.

Bill was active in the Washington County 4-H program, as well as the district and state 4-H councils. He also participated in the Grange activities for several years.

Bill married Carol Foote of Fort Edward on April 2, 1949. They lived in Kingsbury until 1957, when they moved to their farm, Mears Meadows, on East Road in Fort Edward. They were active in the Hudson Falls Baptist Church, and later in the Durkeetown Baptist Church.

Bill was also active in several agricultural organizations, including Washington County Farm Bureau, the county Extension Service and the Tri-County Holstein Club. Bill served five years on the Town of Fort Edward Zoning Board of Appeals and thirteen years on the Planning Board. He also received and served on county and state appointments.

For 20 years the Mears herd qualified for the National Holstein Association’s Progressive Breeders’ Registry. As a result, numerous animals were sold and exported to foreign countries including Japan, Canada, France, Hungary, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Venezuela. In 1985 Bill received the New York State Master Breeder’s Award. The Mears Holstein herd was dispersed later that year at public sale with animals going to herds in several states. Bill then worked part-time for five years procuring registered cattle from other herds for export to Iraq, Morocco and countries in Central and South America.

Bill and his wife Carol had time to enjoy several trips throughout our country visiting national parks and Hawaii, as well as Canada and the British Isles. They subdivided and sold Mears Meadows Farm in 1999–the 50th year of their marriage–and then retired to their “first apartment” located in Queensbury. For the past several years they have been members of the Pine Knolls Alliance Church in South Glens Falls.

During his retirement “from the cows” Bill used some of his free time making furniture at his farm shop, and later found a lot of satisfaction refinishing and caning antique chairs. Other interests have included extensive reading and following the Dodgers baseball team since the mid 1930’s.

Bill was predeceased by his wife Carol, his parents, his step-mother Elsie Mears, and a daughter Susan who died at birth in 1950. He is survived by four daughters and their families: Margaret (Peggy) and her husband Mark Godin of South Hamilton, MA with whom he lived the past 4 months, and their children Maggie and her husband Anthony Cabalar and their children Ezekiel and Daniel of Redding, CA, and Jonathan Godin of Seattle, WA; Marcia and her husband David Darsie of Winchester, VA and her sons, Eric Etu and his wife Liza and their daughter Sabine of Walnut Creek, CA, Joshua Etu and his wife Sarah and their children Julia, William and Brendan of Fredericksburg, VA, and Nathan Etu and his wife Cheryl and their daughter Hannah of Amesbury, MA; Sally and her husband Allen Dawson of Herndon, VA and her daughter Rebecca Seifried of Crete, Greece; and Amy Mears-Teitsch and her husband John Teitsch of Salisbury, NC and her son Alex Mears of Alfred, NY; and several cousins.

A service of celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Friday, November 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Church of Hamilton and Wenham, South Hamilton, MA. Bill’s nephew, the Rev. Brian Labosier will officiate. A reception will follow in church’s Preston Cutler Gallery. Cards of remembrance may be sent to the family C/O Peggy and Mark Godin, 50 Plum St, S. Hamilton, MA 01982. An interment service is tentatively planned for Bill and Carol at the Union Cemetery in Fort Edward, NY on the anniversary of their wedding April 2, 2018.

 

Richard Anthony Rousseau

Rousseau MilitaryARGYLE – Richard Anthony Rousseau, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017, after an ongoing illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 10, 1938, Dick was the son of the late Howard and Bertha (LaValley) Rousseau.

Richard attended Hudson Falls School before enlisting in the US Army in 1955.  While serving in the army, he became a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.  Dick was very proud of his service to our country.  He loved to talk about is time stationed in Germany.  Following his active duty service, Dick served for some time in the Glens Falls National Guard in Glens Falls.

Dick had a special love of old cars and ding body work and painting them.  He had a special car his 1951 Mercury four door.  Some of the best times in his life were spend with the CB Club and Car Club attending shows.  Dick also loved the outdoors, he would go camping with his family at Sportsman Paradise at Trout Lake, where they have a wonderful extended family and friends who always stopped to talk to and spend time with Dick.

Dick worked for 39 ½ years at Decora in Fort Edward and had many good friends and he retired from there in 2000.

Dick married the love of his life. Elizabeth Ann Winchell on January 23, 1965 in South Granville.

He will always be remembered for his good kind and loving nature he had about him, no matter how hard times would get.  He would say “Don’t worry, God will take care of it.” And “Always give God all your faith.  Dick had a special passion for this Lord Jesus and wanted to tell everyone about him and even told many people who would listen, how to get to heaven.  He was very proud of being able to be a part of the crew to build his church, the Cornerstone Outreach Church in Hudson Falls on Route 196, for God’s glory, where he was a member and was always willing to be a helping hand.  Richard liked going for coffee and hotdogs at the Venus on River Street in Hudson Falls and to visit with all the guys and talk about the old days.

Richard had one special space in his heart and that was for his great grandson Dujon “DJ”, together they spend all day, every day with each other and Pop and DJ would share everything.

Richard was predeceased by his parents, and mother in father in law, Charles and Dena Winchell, his brother, Howard Rousseau, Jr. and Alice Hamner and Joyce Matrow.

Dick and Liz have one son. Richard A. Rousseau, Jr. and his companion Lettie Easton of Granville. Two granddaughters, Natashia Rousseau of Syracuse and Elizabeth A. (Rousseau) Manley of Argyle; one grandson, Frisco S. Rousseau of Argyle; two step grandsons, Joseph Brooks od South Glens Falls and Nicholas Crum of Queensbury; 1 great grandson, Dujon L. Manley, Jr. of Argyle; his sister Teresa Henderson and her husband Bob of Florida; her brother, Elroy Rousseau of Durkeetown; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will follow the calling hours at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial with full military honors will be on Monday at 11 a.m. at Morningside Cemetery in Hartford.

The family would like to extend many thanks to the Glens Falls Hospital nurses, who took care of Dick, Dr. Kamal, Dr. Patracca and Dr. Gray for their care and Dr. Tedesco for seeing him through his comfort care.

edwards barbHUDSON FALLS – Barbara E. Edwards, 90, of Mulberry Street, went into the Lord’s arms, with her loving family by her side, on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on January 26, 1927 in Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Mary (Cenate) Latterell.

On February 7, 1946, she married Joseph Edwards in Fort Ann.   He died on April 7, 1998.

She was an employee of Native Textiles for 20 years, retiring in 1988.

She enjoyed word puzzles, ceramics, crocheting afghans, playing cards and putting together jig saw puzzles.    Barbara loved her three dogs, Misty, Muffin and Princess.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased her daughter, Priscilla Murray; her granddaughters, Susan Smith, Amy Marie Edwards and Jaamie Lynn Edwards four brothers, Merile, Ward, Jesse Jr. and Hubert Latterell; two sisters, Wonona Latterell and Betty Burkhart Middleton.

Survivors include three children, Jesse Edwards and his wife, Paula of Hudson Falls, Richard Edwards of Hudson Falls and Joseph Edwards, Jr. and his wife, Pam of Hudson Falls; her sisters, Patricia Burns and her husband, James, of Hudson Falls and Mary Holden of Gansevoort; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no public calling hours.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, at Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery in Stillwater.

Following the burial, there will be a reception at American Legion Post 574 on Pearl St., in Hudson Falls.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Charles R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital, 100 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.

Shirley (Pratt) Sawyer

Sawyer, ShirleyQUEENSBURY – Shirley (Pratt) Sawyer, 81, of Queensbury, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in Fort Edward.

Born on June 8, 1936 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Stella Pratt.

Shirley was a proud member of the first graduating class of Queensbury School System.

On December 24, 1953, she married Robert Sawyer.   He passed away on May 11, 2010, after 56 years of marriage.

Shirley worked at General Electric Company and then retired from Troy Shirt Factory in Glens Falls.

Shirley was a beautiful seamstress and an accomplished painter.   She also enjoyed creating ceramic pieces.   The most important part of her life was sharing her time with her grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Tina Truesdale and her grandson, Andrew Burch.

Survivors include her daughter, Robin McKnight and her husband, Gralen of Pine Bush and daughters, Terra, Tiffany and Toni; her daughter, Lou Haynes and her husband, David of Texas and their children, Corinne and Jameson, her son, Kelly Sawyer and his wife, Cynthia of Hudson Falls and son, Brandon, her son, Robert Sawyer and his wife, Terri of Fort Edward and their sons, Shannon, Colby and Benjamin, and her daughter, Jody Marchese of Hudson Falls and her daughters, Meghan and Katharine; her brothers, Nelson Pratt and his wife, Marge of Queensbury, Eugene Pratt and his significant other, Cindy of Queensbury, Albert Pratt of Rome and Terry Pratt of Hudson Falls; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

No services are scheduled.

Logan C. Malmberg

Malmberg, LoganFORT EDWARD – Logan Conner Malmberg, passed away at his home, on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on September 1, 2017 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Eric and Katie Malmberg.

Logan loved to be cuddled.  He had a beautiful smile that would melt everyone’s heart and he loved listening to Frank Sinatra.

He was predeceased by his sister, Lydia and his great grandparents.

Those left behind who will miss him, include, his mother and father, Eric and Katie; his brother, Dylan Malmberg of Fort Edward; his grandparents, Chris and Elizabeth “BJ” Eisenhardt of Queensbury, Teddianne and Mark Parent of Douglas, MA and Robert Malmberg of Medway, MA; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be private.
