Thomas M. Fuller

Fuller Thomas retouchSOUTH GLENS FALLS- Thomas M. Fuller, 43, of Lake Luzerne, passed away unexpectedly on February 18, 2018, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on September 9, 1974, at Glens Falls Hospital, he was the son of the late Bernard Fuller.

He attended South Glens Falls High School.

Thomas married Darlene Ball on October 22, 2011, in Glens Falls. Together they shared 15 wonderful years together.  He always said that she was his moth to a light.

He was employed by Midas Muffler in Queensbury, for a long time. He was known for being a top-notch mechanic.  He was very respected by Kent Smith and Rich Hatala.

Thomas really enjoyed working on his cars and motorcycles, but he loved his children and spending time with his family the most.

He was an amazing man, with a heart full of gold. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone and helped everyone who asked.

In addition to his father, Thomas was predeceased by his son, Tyler Fuller.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Fuller of Lake Luzerne; his children, Thomas Fuller of Lake Luzerne, Taylor Fuller and his fiancé Heather Smith of Glens Falls, Cameron Fuller of Queensbury, Kyle Fuller of Lake Luzerne; his step children, Cody and Bradley Faggiano of Queensbury and Owen Bell in Queensbury; his brothers, Baylen Burlingame and his wife, Cecily of Queensbury, Daniel Baker and his wife, Melissa of Hudson Falls; his sister, Tammy Caprood of Queensbury;  he loved all his nieces and nephews, but one nephew, Dominic AKA Hammer, he shared a special connection with.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, February 23, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY 12839.

Nina Angelina Cleavland

Cleavland, NInaFORT EDWARD – Nina Angelina Cleavland, 89, of Fort Edward, went into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, February 18, 2018.

Born on April 18, 1928, in Thurman, she was the daughter of the late William and Nellie (Ross) Daggett.

After her high school graduation, she attended Zion Bible Institute in Rhode Island.

In June of 1955, she married Sargent Smith Cleavland.

Nina worked for Bell Atlantic Telephone for several years until she moved on to Continental Insurance Company in Glens Falls, where she retired as an underwriter.

Nina loved flowers and gardening and took great pride in working in her garden until her health wouldn’t allow.  She then drafted her daughter in law to help maintain her garden. Nina enjoyed traveling with groups.  She loved seeing different things with different groups of people.  The greatest loves of her life were her grandchildren, until her great grandchildren came along whom she loved even more.  Her great grandchildren lovingly called her the “Cookie Lady”.

Nina was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Hudson Falls and had attended services at the Fruitful Vine Church, formerly in Fort Edward.

In addition to her parents, and her ex-husband, Sargent Smith Cleavland, she was predeceased by all her siblings and her grandson, Robert Leon Smith.  Nina was the last of the Daggett Family remaining.

She was survived by her son, Edward W. Cleavland, Sr., and his wife, Theresa of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Sadie Szucs and her husband, Wayne of New Jersey, Diana Cleavland and her fiancé, Tom of Hudson Falls and Edward Cleavland, Jr. “EJ” of Broadalbin; many great grandchildren; and her close friends, Beverly Cleavland, whom was like a sister to her, Mary Godette and Maureen.

At Nina’s request, there will be no public calling hours.

Funeral Services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Gospel Lighthouse Church, 30 LaCross Street in Hudson Falls.

Burial will be in the Spring at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Robert L. Jones

HJones, Robert CUDSON FALLS- Robert L. Jones, Jr. 62, of Hudson Falls, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Glens Falls Hospital after a long illness.

Born on March 10, 1955 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Jenn (Leach) Jones of Hudson Falls. and the late John Jones.

On April 7, 1973, he married Darlene Ross at the Glens Falls Methodist Church.

Robert was employed by the Washington County Building and Grounds Department, and he was extremely proud of his position there.

His hobbies and interests included tinkering on cars, his tractor, putting up and enjoying Christmas decorations of all kinds and collecting old time radios.

In addition to his father, John Jones, he was predeceased by his step father, Goosie Groesbeck; and his step mother, Aggie Groesbeck.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Darlene (Ross) Jones of Hudson Falls; his mother, Jennie (Leach) of Hudson Falls; his children, Wanda Smith of Florida, Joreen Jones of Hudson Falls, Teresa Jones of Hudson Falls, Melissa Jones of Hudson Falls, Robert Jones of Hudson Falls, Kaylie Smith of Hudson Falls; his  brothers and sisters, Grace Starteri of Lake George, Jeff Jones of Glens Falls, Phil Jones of Glens Falls, Susan Gordon of Hudson Falls, Jennifer Jones of Warrensburg and Elaine Jones of Hudson Falls; 27 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, between 6-8 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY 12839.

Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

Joan (Peg/Betty) Doyle

Doyle JoanHUDSON FALLS – Joan (Peg/Betty) Doyle, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2018, at the Fort Hudson Healthcare Center in the town of Fort Edward.

Born June 15, 1932, at Saratoga Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Morse and Elizabeth (Cahill) Blinn and lovingly raised by Lillian Scripter Doyle.

Peg was a lifelong resident of this area.  She attended St. Alphonsus Elementary School and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1950.  She married Michael F. Doyle Jr. on Friday, October 13, 1950.   They were married 15 years before Mike’s untimely death in January of 1966.

In her younger years, Peg worked at AT&T in Glens Falls as a telephone operator. After her husband’s death, she unselfishly devoted her life to raising her children.  In 1969 Peg returned to work as a cafeteria worker where she met many lovely people to work with and retired in 1994 as Cook Manager of Hudson Falls Junior High School cafeteria. She also enjoyed her summer job working at Bob’s Grocery on Burgoyne Avenue in Hudson Falls. After her retirement, Peg and her sister delivered Meals on Wheels and greatly enjoyed visiting with the people they served.

Peg was a very soft-spoken, helping, kind-hearted person. You would be hard pressed to find a more loving and devoted mother, daughter, sister, friend, and neighbor.  She loved to play the piano, enjoyed reading, completing crossword puzzles, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Peg was predeceased by her mother Lillian S. Doyle, her beloved daughter Nancy B. Underwood and her step-son Michael F. Doyle III.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Deborah (David) Nassivera, Kelly (George) Liberty, Timothy C. Doyle, Karen (Richard) Jones, Bridget (Dave) Helwig, her loving granddaughter and caregiver, Krystel Guardiola, along with numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.

At Peg’s request, there will be no calling hours.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Catholic Church, On the Park, Hudson Falls with The Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating.

The Rite of committal will be in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Beverly L.Legault

legault beverlyHUDSON FALLS- Beverly Laberge Legault, 88, of Hudson Falls, passed away on February 14, 2018, after a brief illness.

Born on June 28, 1929, in Springfield Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Lebourdais) Laberge.

Beverly married John Paul Legault, Sr. on October 28, 1972. They were married for 25 years, until his passing on December 31, 1997.

She was employed at General Electric for over 20 years, in the payroll department. After that, she moved to Glens Falls Cement Company, where she worked in accounting, until her retirement.

Beverly enjoyed traveling with her husband, John and their close friends, to various vacation spots. They had some of the best adventures in Myrtle Beach, Hawaii and San Francisco. They could always be caught doing many antics. She also enjoyed bowling with her work buddies at GE in a bowling league. She learned to cook from her best friend Jackie Ingraham and loved sharing her cooking with all of us at many family functions. She was also the champion of Christmas decorations. But, her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would love to brag about their accomplishments and attended many of their school functions

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Alice Chevalier her brother in law Larry Chevalier and their daughter and Beverly’s niece Christine Chevalier. Also, by her sister in law Chieko Laberge.

Survivors include her two daughters, Jane Legault of Hudson Falls, Phyllis White and her husband, Mitch of South Glens Falls; her two sons, John Paul Legault, Jr. and his wife Michele of Queensbury, Phillip Legault and his wife, Luz of New Jersey; her five grandchildren, Heather Kelleher, Cynthia Legault, Christopher Legault, Jonathan Legault, Matthew Legault; her two great grandchildren, Alexander Merino, Damian Wager; her brother, Charles Laberge of Hawaii; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Dr Noelle Stevens and Brenda Stevens for the help and guidance they gave to the family in Beverly’s final days. Also, Dr. Hoy and Eileen Spinelli, NP, the staff on Tower 2 at the Glens Falls Hospital. Also, the Wesley Community and Community Hospice of Saratoga in her final days.

Calling hours for family and friends will take place on Monday, February 19, 2018, from 2-4 p.m. with a service following at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY.

Following the calling hours, funeral rites will take place from 4 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc.

Burial will take place in the spring at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.

Ludwig. J ”Buck or Joe” Winans

winan ludwigHUDSON FALLS- Ludwig. J ”Buck or Joe” Winans, 90, of Hudson Falls, died on February 11, 2018 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was born March 1, 1927, in Brooklyn, New York, to Edgar and Minnie (Geiger) Winans.

Joe was honorably discharged from the army in January of 1947.

On January 5, 1949, he married the love of his life Ida Mae Montgomery.

Joe was a union carpenter and millwright who worked out of the local in South Glens Falls until he retired. He was very particular about his work and become an excellent finish carpenter.

He kept a boat on Lake George called Fine Risk, which provided many years of enjoyment, as he and Ida had picnics on many of the islands.

After his retirement he enjoyed many winters in Sebring, Florida until his wife Ida M. Winans died on June 11, 2005. After she passed life, was not the same. He continued to go to Florida for the winter to stay away from the cold weather but he missed his Ida.

He was predeceased by three siblings, Edward Winans of Glens Falls, Rose Lemp of Long Island and Minnie Constant of Whitehall.

He is survived by his children, Claire Winans-Keech and her husband Curtis of Hudson Falls and Sebring, Florida and Daniel E. Winans and his wife, Cindy of Yuma Arizona. Grandchildren Sarah J. Doty, Emily Portuese and her husband, Rick, Collette Thompson and her husband, Nathan and Ashley A. Pilakowski and her husband, Vinnie; along with several great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Debbie Pauquette at the Holbrook Adult Home for her compassionate care. He thoroughly enjoyed her home and she made his last months there so happy.

Morris “Muff” Nassivera

Nassiveral, MorrisHUDSON FALLS – Morris “Muff” Nassivera, 92, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at the Glens Falls Hospital, after a long illness.

Born on January 17, 1926, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the Italian immigrants, Attilio and Rose (Bocchi) Nassivera.

Muff was a 1943 graduate of Hudson Falls High School. Following his graduation, he served in the US Army Air Corps as a tail gunner on a B-29, during World War II.

In his youth, Muff played football, baseball and basketball in Hudson Falls. After high school, he excelled in football with the Hudson Falls Greenjackets, leading them to two state championships.  He also played Greenjacket Basketball and baseball.  Muff excelled in football, basketball and baseball wherever he played.

Morris “Muff” Nassivera was a very well known high school football and basketball referee in this area, for over fifty years. As a basket ball official, he served the IAABO Board 36 for over 50 years.  He refereed hundreds of high school varsity games as well as sectional and championship games.  He served on many committees for board 36, as well as it’s president for two terms.  Muff was also the basketball commissioner for the Northern Conference and Foothills Leagues, assigning basketball games to officials at ever level of the game.

As a football official, he served the Adirondack Chapter of Certified Football Officials in numerous capacities. Muff was an active member of the group for 50 years.  He served on the executive committee for as many as forty of those years, serving as a Vice President and President.  He was also the football Commissioner assigning varsity football games to officials for 25 years.  Muff was instrumental in training younger football officials to be a referee and wear the White Hat.  He was also the recipient of the football Foundation and the College Hall of Fame award as well as being inducted into the Capital District Football Hall of Fame.  He was a diligent teacher of football officials with firmness and fairness.  Muff was a very highly respected official in this area.  Schools would request to have Muff Nassivera on their game.

Muff helped form the Hudson Falls Little League, he was inducted in to the Hudson Falls Wall of Distinction, the sports Memorial Hall of Fame at Glens Falls and the National Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield MA as an official.

On March 18, 1945, he married Anne Hope Somers. She passed away on August 29, 2004.

Muff was self employed as a partner of Decan Construction in West Glens Falls.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

Muff served as mayor of Hudson Falls for seven years. Throughout his life, he was very active in his community..

Muff owned and trained multiple horses and in 1974, he had the Hall of Fame horse Riffraff. He was President of the Northeastern Harness Horseman’s Association and a member of the Glens Falls Country Club.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son, Terry Nassivera.

He is survived by his children, Mark Nassivera and his wife, Pat of Fort Ann, Joseph Nassivera of Los Angeles, David Nassivera and his wife, Debby of Kingsbury, Matthew Nassivera of Saratoga Springs and Ann Hope Pugliese and her husband, Richard of Gansevoort; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother, A. John Nassivera of Hudson Falls ; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

M. Lucille Underwood

Underwood, Mary Underwood, Mary OldSOUTH GLENS FALLS – M. Lucille Underwood, 89, of White Birch Estates, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at the Grand at Guilderland, with her family by her side.

Born on November 24, 1928, in Glens Falls, she was the son of the late George and Ella (Heath) Crandall.

She married Philip R. Underwood on New Years day in 1950 at the Hudson Falls First Presbyterian Church, he passed away on March 5, 2005.

Mrs. Underwood worked at General Electric in Fort Edward, for 34 years.

For a number of years, she lived in Hudson Falls and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in that community. Her Veteran’s of Foreign Wars involvement took her to the office of Grand President of the Military Order of the Cootie Auxiliary for New York State.  On the holiday’s she would deliver flowers for Bloonies and Blooms Flower Shop and Binley Flowers.

Mrs. Underwood enjoyed Bingo and traveling.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one brother, Clarence Crandall and her son in law, Charles Montgomery.

Survivors include her five children, Joyce M. Montgomery of Gansevoort, Brenda K. Bartholomew of Mechanicville, Philip R. Underwood, Jr. of South Glens Falls, Robert Scott Underwood and his wife, Naomi of Carthage and Patricia A. Underwood and her companion, Mike Harrington of South Glens Falls; eight grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a sister, Eunice Kill and her husband, Tom of Johnsburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m.  on Friday, February 16, 2018, at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Duell Rd. in Stillwater.

Following the burial, all are welcome to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club 80 Main St, South Glens Falls, for a celebration of her life.

Michael Lee Plude

Plude, MichaelGRANVILLE and HUDSON FALLS—Michael Lee Plude, who lived in Hudson Falls for most of his life before moving to Granville, died unexpectedly and entered into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2018, five days before his birthday. He was 51.

Mike was born February 13, 1966, the son of Donald J. and Beatrice L. (Bechard) Plude. He was born with Down syndrome and a permanently dislocated hip that left him unable to walk, but that never affected his zest for life. He had a remarkable effect on all who knew and loved him.

He especially enjoyed parades and marching bands, and in his younger years could often be seen with his parents outside their Winnebago cheering on the marchers. He loved music, especially old country songs and ballads, and would pump his better leg to the music and sing along with his own lyrics, right in tune. In his later years he liked to go to Rick and Carol’s in Fort Ann and dance in his wheelchair.

He also loved long rides in any vehicle. And he liked the water, and if you held your hand under his chest he would kick his legs like he never could in his wheelchair and almost seemed to swim.

In his later years Mike enjoyed going out for pizza with his brother Jeff and sister-in-law Karen and afterward riding around and singing along to Willie Nelson and Hank Williams songs. He also took a big trip to New York City in 2005, accompanied by Nicole Stevens, a former manager of his group home, to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.

Mike lived at home in Hudson Falls for most of his life with his parents, and after his father died in 1983, with his mother. He would sit in front of the house at 33 LaBarge Street with his mother and wave to all the passers-by. She lovingly cared for him until 2003, when he moved to a group home in Granville, where he made a whole new group of friends. He attended a day program nearby at CWI Eastpointe.

Mike’s mother died in 2014, and his half brother, Ronald L. Plude, died in 2016.

Left to cherish Mike’s memory are his brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey and Karen Plude of Bethlehem; his two half nephews, Scott (Pasquela) Plude and Matthew (Sonia) Plude, both of California; a special cousin, Denis Plude of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and caregivers.

There will be no calling hours. Private graveside services and burial will be held in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.

Michael Lee Plude

GRANVILLE and HUDSON FALLS—Michael Lee Plude, who lived in Hudson Falls for most of his life before moving to Granville, died unexpectedly and entered into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2018, five days before his birthday. He was 51.

Joan C. Hart

Hart, JoanHUDSON FALLS- Joan C. Hart, 83, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Indian River Nursing Home in Granville, NY.

Born on February 15, 1934 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Virgie (Bruso) Cruden.

Joan graduated from Hudson Falls High School class of 1951.

On January 31, 1958, she married the late Henry Hart, at her home in Hudson Falls.

Joan was first employed at Neyland Inc. in Mt. Vernon. She then worked with Dr. Greenburg in Hudson Falls for several years before joining George Gore Accounting, where she eventually retired.

Joan looked forward to baking Christmas cookies every year with her family.  Her greatest affection was for her loyal dog, Lady, who she loved unconditionally.

Survivors include her three siblings, Jean Reger of Queensbury, Jacquelynn (Carleton) Dunn of South Carolina, Sharon (William) McCormick of Hudson Falls; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Family and friends may call on Monday, February 12, from 2-4 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY 12839.

Funeral services will follow on Monday, starting at 4 p.m.at Carleton Funeral Home Inc.

We will meet for a graveside service on Tuesday, February 13, at 11 a.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, where Joan will be buried next to her husband, Henry J. Hart.

Shirley Ruth Campney

Campney, ShirleyFORT ANN –  Shirley Ruth Campney, 86, of Fort Ann, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2018, with her son by her side.

Born on September 6, 1931, in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Gladys (Holmes) Stark.

She was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

Shirley married Frank Campney and spent many happy years with him, until he passed on August 10, 1983.

Shirley worked side by side with her husband at Frank’s Auto Body Shop until his death. She then began working at the Glens Falls National Bank in Deposit Services until her retirement.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and attended the Fort Ann United Protestant Church.

Shirley loved bird watching, playing cards with her sister, her cat Bandit and spending time with her special niece Sandi.

In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was predeceased by her brothers, Tom Stark, her twin, Sherman Stark, and C. Vernon Stark; her sisters, Betty Jane Stark, Evelyn Williams and her husband Floyd, Janet Watt and her husband, Edward, Genevieve Hilenski and her husband Stanley; her brother-in-law, Joseph Britt; and her granddaughter, Ashley Marie Baker.

Survivors include her three children, Deborah Baker and her husband, Tom, Dwight Campney and his wife, Kim, Charles Campney and his wife, Karin; her six grandchildren, John Hack, Timothy Hack, Rachel Gregory, Justin Campney and his wife, Lindsay, Jonathan Campney , Jessica O’Connor and her husband, Michael; her sister, Ramona Britt; her sisters-in-law, Eileen Stark, Leona Stark, Jane Flagg; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including her special niece, Sandi Shaw.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, February 13, between 4 and 6 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY 12839.

Funeral Services will follow the calling hours at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in the spring at the Kingsbury Cemetery.

Davidson, VeronicaQUEENSBURY- Veronica “Roni” Davidson, 59, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 2, 2018, after a short illness.

Born on October 4, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Shirley Fleming and Leonard Chappel.

Roni spent most of her adult life in Queensbury. She worked for 40 years as a CNA in area nursing homes and on the oncology floor at the Glens Falls Hospital. Roni truly enjoyed caring for people and had one of the biggest hearts you could find. Roni would brighten up any room she walked into. Roni loved spending time with her family, friends and most importantly, having a good time.

Besides her parents, Roni was predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, James William “Billy” Davidson.

Survivors include her mother-in-law, Deidra Weeks of Queensbury; her children, Chris Smith and Nicole Hulse; her sister Penny of Ausable Chasm; her brothers-in-law, Jeffrey Davidson and his wife, Joanne of Hudson Falls, Michael Davidson of Queensbury; her nieces, Chelsea Lemon and her husband, William of Niskayuna, Melissa Davidson of Hudson Falls; her nephew, Lee Davidson of Fort Edward; her cat Billy James ”BJ”; many other nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and good friends.

At her request, there will be no calling hours.

A private graveside service will be held in the spring.
