SOUTH GLENS FALLS- Billy J. Rivers, Sr., 53, of South Glens Falls, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018, at home.
Born on September 22, 1964, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Roland and Geraldine (Brown) Rivers.
Billy was married to Rebecca (Brooks) Rivers until she passed away in 2013. He then met and married Claire (Daffy) Rivers.
He was employed by the White Cab Company and drove a taxi for years.
Billy was a very active volunteer firefighter for the Fort Edward Fire Department and later the West Fort Ann Volunteer Fire Company. He also enjoyed hanging out and drinking coffee at the Stewarts, on the park, in Hudson Falls
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, Skip Rivers and Arthur Rivers; and his sister, Angel Rivers.
Survivors include his second wife, Claire (Daffy) Rivers of South Glens Falls; his three children, Billy Rivers, Jr. of Hudson Falls, Brian Rivers and his companion, Teshia Wilcox of South Glens Fall, Zachary Rivers of South Glens Falls; his four grandchildren, Autumn Rivers, Ryleigh Rivers, Sylis Rivers and her mother, Britte Graham and Delila “Pookie” Rivers and her mother, Gina Baker; his brothers and sisters, Rolanda Clark, Nancy Winney and her husband, Clarence, Tammie Rivers and her companion, Kevin Whiting, Tina Goodell and her husband, Kevin and Duane Rivers and his companion, Kristine Preece; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY.
Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Paul’s Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.
The family suggests that donations be made in Billy’s name to the volunteer fire company of their choice.
