QUEENSBURY – Betty DePalo Ducharme, 84, of Queensbury, passed away early Thursday morning , November 6, 2014.
Born on November 23, 1929 in Queensbury, she was the daughter of the late Stanley C. and Margaret (Haskins) Barlow.
In the 1960’s, Betty was employed at Grubbers Dress Factory in Hudson Falls and then later at Decora in Fort Edward. She also worked as a housekeeper at many area hotels.
Betty loved to be outdoors at the ocean and just enjoying nature. She preferred to be in the warm weather, so for about 20 years, Betty lived in West Palm Beach and the Tampa area in Florida. She was a great giver, donating to veterans, cancer and animal charities. The light of her life was being around children. Betty loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Stanley Barlow and Margaret Gleason, she was predeceased by her son, Franky “Love” DePalo, her two brothers, Stanley and Raymond Barlow, her two sisters, Elleen Armstrong and Kay Mattison and her half brother, Gary Mattison.
Survivors include her loving children, Joe DePalo and his wife, Cathy, Donna Horning and Maria DePalo; three half brothers, John, Leon and Jim Mattison; her sister, Ann Barlow; six grandchildren, Camille DePalo, Gary Dickson, Crishell Ruggiero and her husband, Mark, Shawn Horning and his companion, Debbie, Lisa Troupe and her husband, Jeff and Andrea DePalo; four great grandchildren ; several nieces and nephews; four step children, Margo, Julie and her husband, Scott, Brian and Bruce and his wife, Linda; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday October, 14, 2014, at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury, with Pastor Chris Collin of New Hope Community Church in Queensbury, officiating.
Betty’s family suggests that memorial donations be made to C.R. Wood Cancer Center, 100 Pruyn Pavilion, Glens Falls, NY 12801 or Mary’s Haven, 35 New St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
