Philomena A. Persuitti Rock

FORT EDWARD – Philomena A. Persuitti Rock passed away June 21, 2021, at home, after a short illness.  She was 91 years old.

Born on April 5, 1930 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Angeline (Romanelli) Persuitti.

Philomena, better known as “Minnie”, worked for several restaurants in the Glens Falls region, over the years, as a cook.  She also at one time worked at J & J Lingerie in Glens Falls.

On September 4, 1971, Philomena married the love of her life, Melvin Rock, in Fort Edward.

In her younger years, she enjoyed going bowling.

Besides her parents, Philomena was predeceased by her twin daughters, Angeline Ann and Ella Marie Duckett; a son, Philip Duckett; her sisters, Josephine Persuitti, Mary Ann LaRoe and her brothers, Albert and Anthony Persuitti.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin Rock; her grandchildren, Angela and Zachary Duckett, Kyle Bannin, William Trombley, Rebecca Cook Beaty (Shon) and Timothy Cook; her great grandchildren, Joshua Bannin, Kaiden, Nathan and Landon Miner, Cierra, Hannah and Aubrie Beaty and Cameran Cook; her nephews, Larry, Kevin and Peter Persuitti and her nieces, Mary Persuitti, Cathy LaRoe and  Jo-Ann Gregory.

Minnie’s family would like to thank all the in-home caregivers, High Peak’s Hospice and a special thank you to Joelle Russo.

Friends may call on Sunday, June 27, 2021, from 4 to 6 pm, at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Monday, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow the mass, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.

Raymond V. St. John

GANSEVOORT – Raymond V. St. John, 86, of Gansevoort, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Slate Valley Center for Rehab and Nursing.

Born on April 3, 1935 in Glens Falls, son of the late Homer and Nellie (Billings) St. John.

In July of 1954, he joined the United States Air Force.

Raymond married Sylvia Phillips in 1960 in Queensbury. They were married for 45 years before she passed away in 2005.

After his time in the Air Force, Raymond was a long-time employee of Griffin Lumber.

One of his hobbies was woodworking, he even had a shop at home. In his younger years, he enjoyed roller-skating and even taught some classes locally.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by a brother, Thomas St. John; a sister-in-law, Susan St. John; and a great-grandchild, Joseph Ryan Donahue.

Survivors include his children, Sandra Hayes and her husband, Kenneth, Linda St. John and her partner, David Gibbs, and Jennifer St. john; his grandchildren, Stephanie (Todd) Benson, Becky (Joseph) Donahue, Eric, Jr. (Laura) Thompson, Amanda Neron and Lisa (Joseph) Elia; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Samuel St. John; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

As per the family’s request, there will be no services.

Terry “Noah” Nichols

HUDSON FALLS – Terry “Noah” Nichols, 67, of Hudson Falls, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021, at his home.

Born February 10, 1954 in Glens Falls, he was the son Howard T. Nichols and the late Marie (Bentley) Nichols.

He was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

Noah had a passion for motorcycles and was a longtime member of the Jury Motorcycle Club.  He enjoyed watching professional wrestling, especially with his grandma Bentley and watching the nightly news.  Noah treasured spending time with his grandchildren and was fondly known to them as “Grampy”.  He was a good friend to many, always looking out for his “brothers” and those he loved. Noah was a devoted son; he never missed a phone call to check in on his parents.  He loved spending time with his dogs.   Noah will be remembered for always living life to its fullest and on his own terms.   His greatest accomplishment in life were his daughters.

Besides his mother, Noah was predeceased by his grandparents.

Survivors include his two daughters, Tiffany Rolleston (Chris) of Glens Falls and Jessica Nichols of Hudson Falls; his grandchildren, Kory, Kaela, Trace, Kassidy and Atticus; his two sisters, Sharlene Hunt (Richard) of Hudson Falls and Pamela Elderkin (Bryan) of Jefferson; his father, Howard T. Nichols of Fort Edward; Noah’s companion, Tina Blackmer; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call Friday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, at 1 p.m., following the calling hours, at the funeral home.

The burial will take place at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury, following the service.

John “Jack” E. Wemmitt

HUDSON FALLS – John “Jack” E. Wemmitt, 83, of Hudson Falls, passed away suddenly, June 17, 2021, at his home.

Born January 21, 1938 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Theodore and Alice Wemmitt.

Jack proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he worked as an electrician, servicing the airplanes.

On July 9, 1961, Jack married the love of his life, Sandra Ross, at Mapletown Methodist Church in Mapletown, PA.

Jack worked for Hercules/Ciba Geigy, in Queensbury, for 23 years as a welder.

He was a mechanic by trade and could often be found fixing cars.  In his younger years, Jack enjoyed riding motorcycles, snowmobiles and pretty much anything with a motor. He made many memories camping with his family throughout the Adirondacks and Vermont.  Jack will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.

Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by his brothers, Gordy and Bob Wemmitt and his sister, Kay Garwood.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Sandra Wemmitt of Hudson Falls; his children, Jeff Wemmitt of NH, Michele Kowalewski and her husband, Joe of Gansevoort and Ron Wemmitt and his wife, Sabrina of Hudson Falls; his grandchildren, Cory Tyler and his wife, Mikayla and Shelby Mickel and her husband, Kyle; his great grandchildren, Braxton, Lincoln and Bentley; his sister, Judy Wemmittt; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins;

Per Jack’s request, there will be no services.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, to be announced.

Jenny A. Allen

HUDSON FALLS –Jenny A. Allen, 54, of Perkins Drive, passed away unexpectedly on June 15, 2021, at Glens Falls Hospital, due to complications from a heart condition.

Born on July 25, 1966 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter the late Everett W. and Ruth (Phillips) Jones.

Jenny was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School and then attended Adirondack Community College.

On June 10, 1989, she married Dale Allen in Hudson Falls.  They shared 31 years of marriage together until Dale’s passing on August 23, 2020.

Jenny enjoyed reading thriller and mystery novels.  She held various jobs throughout her life but most important to her was taking care of her family.  Jenny enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking the family meals.

Survivors include her son, Michael Allen of Hudson Falls; her brother, Everett “Charlie” Jones; her two brothers in law, Brett Allen of Lake George and Greg (Andrea) Allen of Long Island; her sister in law; Jeanette Allen of Lake George; several nieces, nephews and cousins and her beloved dog, Tiger.

Per Jenny’s request, there will be no service.

Yvonne S. Rock

HUDSON FALLS – Yvonne S. Rock, 79, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at her home, with her family by her side.

Born October 21, 1941 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Martha (Thompson) Dashnaw. 

On June 13, 1959, Yvonne married the love of her life, Paul Rock, Sr., at St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.  They shared 62 wonderful years of marriage.  

She worked for Native Textiles as a lace cutter for 40 years, where she was vice president of the union.

Yvonne was an active member in a senior group that held weekly meetings at the Golden Corral in Saratoga. There, her and her husband enjoyed socializing and making many friends.   She was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.  When she wasn’t busy working or spending time with her family and friends, Yvonne loved to read romance novels.  Yvonne had a friendly disposition and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone she met.  Her life was dedicated to her family and was always there to take care of her loved ones whenever they needed anything.  Yvonne adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be greatly missed.

Besides her parents, Yvonne was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Rivers and a brother, Daniel Dashnaw.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Rock, Sr. of Hudson Falls; her children, Karen Schworm (Brian) of South Glens Falls, Paul Rock, Jr. (Wanda) of Broadalbin; her grandchildren, Kristy Owens (Mark), Jennifer Schworm, Michelle Schworm, Jerrod Dingman and Cassey Rock; her great grandchildren, Jonathan and Austin Owens and Brian C. Schworm;  her siblings, Nancy Fish, David Dashnaw, Betty Mae Webster; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Yvonne’s family would like to thank Dr. Coppens and his team for always being there for Yvonne and the family, Dr. Christie Bialowas and her team for their love and compassionate care given to Yvonne.  Also, a special thank you to Terri Russo for her loving care and to High Peaks Hospice for their care and compassion for Yvonne during her last days on Earth.

William “Bill” Earl Ernst

FORT EDWARD – William “Bill” Earl Ernst, 77, of Fort Edward, passed away unexpectedly on June 14, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, due to complications from heart (bypass) surgery.

Born October 26, 1943 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late William Stanton and Helen (Gage) Ernst.

Bill attended Glens Falls High School and graduated in 1961. He then received his associate degree from SUNY Canton in accounting. While attending Canton, Bill was on the baseball team and was a part of Alpha Theta Gamma fraternity. He enjoyed singing in his fraternity’s quartet. 

Bill met Ellen Toole at a local bowling league, while wearing his legendary red socks. Ellen stated to her friend that night: “I am going to marry that man one day”. Bill always told Ellen: “I never met anybody in my life that made me laugh and enjoy my life more than you.” On October 9th, 1965, Bill married Ellen M. Toole at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls, New York. Their immediate love for one another was the legacy that they have passed down to their children and grandchildren.

Bill began his career at Glens Falls Insurance Company and GE as a computer operator. He then went on to Glens Falls Continental as an underwriter. Bill continued his career as a sales representative for Goldstein Subaru in Albany, until his retirement.  During his retirement, Bill worked for the Washington County Board of Elections and census taking.

Bill enjoyed the simple things in life. He would wake up before Ellen to make her a cup of coffee in bed. Every evening, the two of them could be seen sitting on the front porch drinking a Manhattan while watching the sunset. The neighbors stated that Bill had the best lawn in the neighborhood. He took pride taking care of the yard and his gardens. Bill and Ellen were always seen on the dance floor performing jitter bug, country line dancing and ballroom dancing. They enjoyed attending several local events such as the Adirondack Balloon Festival, country music festivals, concerts and Proctor’s theater shows. Often, Bill would be seen at the local Talk of the Town and Morgan and Company with his lifetime friends. He was a devoted husband and genuine father figure to many. He was his grandchildren’s biggest fan and attended all their sporting events including baseball, hockey, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, golf, and dance. He additionally took part in his own hobbies of interest, such as avidly reading the local newspaper, golfing, playing pool and going bowling. Bill enjoyed traveling to Schroon River to go camping with his family and friends in the summer. Later in life, he enjoyed annual trips to Maine and became an avid international traveler, alongside his wife, for 20 years.

Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his mother, Helen (Gage) Ernst of Glens Falls; father, William “Stan” Ernst of Glens Falls; and sister, Nancy Gill of Auburn.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Ellen (Toole) Ernst; his two children, son, Bruce (Karen) Ernst of Clifton Park and daughter, Stacey Patalino of Skaneateles; his siblings; sister, Beverly Passineau, brother, Robert (Carol) Ernst and sister, Carolyn (Jim) Flynn; as well as his four grandchildren, Evan and Lena Ernst, and Jacob and Jessica Patalino.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date, to be announced.

Ralph “Butch” Zeno

GANSEVOORT – Ralph “Butch” Zeno, 73, of Gansevoort, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on December 4, 1947 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Joseph and Carmela (Cantiello) Zeno.

Butch was a graduate of Fort Edward High School and continued his education at Albany Business College.

On June 6, 1981, he married Susan Cronin at St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward.  They shared 40 wonderful years of marriage.

He worked for several years at Scott Paper before his employment for the New York State Canal Corporation. Butch worked in Fort Edward as a lock tender until his retirement.  Not able to just be still, he returned every summer to keep busy. 

Butch enjoyed going deer hunting with his son, Matthew, throughout Washington County.  He also loved going to the casino with his wife or by himself.  Butch also loved playing cards with friends and family.  For many years he played softball in the Rec. Leagues, forming many friendships along the way.  Most importantly, Butch adored his family, especially his two grandchildren, Corrina and Hunter Zeno.  Every Monday along with his wife, they took care of his grandchildren, treasuring the memories made.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Zeno of Gansevoort; his son, Matthew Zeno and his wife, Amanda of Moreau; two grandchildren, Corrina and Hunter Zeno; his brother, Joseph Zeno and his wife, Joan of CA; his in laws, Karen and Tony Tomasovic, Daniel and Sue Cronin and David and Laurie Cronin; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Friends may call Thursday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward.

Paul J. Purner

HUDSON FALLS – Paul J. Purner, 84, of Hudson Falls, passed away on June 11, 2021 at Albany Medical Center, after battling numerous complications following a stroke.  His family was by his side.

Born in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Walter and Genevieve (Hart) Purner. 

Paul attended St. Alphonsus and Glens Falls High School.  Growing up, Paul was very active in various sports, particularly bowling, skiing and boating and was an avid football and NASCAR fan.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls and served as an usher. 

In 1962 he married Diane Nicholson and together they raised two sons, Michael and Peter.  He was a very devoted husband and father and worked very hard to provide a good life for his family.  Upon his retirement, after 40 years at USCI/Bard, he and Diane began spending their winters at their home in Homosassa, FL.  Summer afternoons he could be found relaxing on the back porch, listening to country music (and most likely catching a short nap).

He was a hardworking, kind-hearted man, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone, and was well loved by all.

Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brothers, Walter, Richard, Thomas and William and his sister, Mary.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Purner; his two sons, Michael Purner and his fiancée, Brenda Nutting and Peter Purner; his grandchildren, Amanda (Scott) Traylor, Joseph, William and Nikita Purner; his great grandchildren, Zachary and Nyla Traylor; his brothers, Robert Purner, Raymond (Priscilla) Purner and Frank (Anne) Purner; and his sisters, Betty Pagano and Patricia Purner.

He is survived by several in laws, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Monday, June 21, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls.

Prayers will follow the calling hours, 12 p.m., at the funeral home.

The Rite of Committal will be held at Moss Street Cemetery, following the service.

Linda M. Goodman

HUDSON FALLS – Linda M. Goodman, 65, a lifelong resident of Hudson Falls, passed away on June 11, 2021, at her home surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born September 21, 1955 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Elizabeth (Keays) Davis and the late Howard Davis.

She was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School, class of 1974.

Linda was one of seven children and was proud to have grown up in a large family with her siblings.  She was a very talented and creative woman.  Linda loved making things and could put just about anything together with a little hot glue and tape.  An avid thriftier, Linda loved going to churches and yards sales to discover its treasures.

Linda’s greatest joy was her loved ones, especially her grandchildren.

Besides her father, Linda was predeceased by her brothers, Craig W. Davis and Mark S. Davis and a niece, Audrey J. Seymour.

Survivors include her mother, Elizabeth Davis; brothers;  Douglas Davis, Howard Davis and Alan Davis; her sister, Joann Davis; her children; Richard (Lisa) Gorton, Rachel (Timothy Frear) LaPorte; her grandchildren, Robin & Addison Gorton, Leo & Lana Frear; her longtime companion; Jack Lindsay; her beloved nieces and nephews; as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

A special thanks is given to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at the CR Wood Cancer at the Glens Falls Hospital who cared for Linda during her battle with cancer, and High Peaks Hospice who assisted Linda on her final journey.

In accordance with Linda’s wishes there will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be held at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward, 10 a.m., on Tuesday, June 22, 2021.

Peggy A. Measeck

QUEENSBURY – Peggy A. Measeck, 92, of Queensbury, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2021 at Glens Falls Hospital. 

Born July 31, 1928 in Port Byron, she was the daughter of the late Gregg and Roma (Vandenburg) Smith.

Peggy was a graduate of Port Byron School.

On July 16, 1949, Peggy married Kenneth Measeck in Port Byron.  They spent 65 years of marriage together until his passing on April 25, 2015.

In 1953, Peggy and her husband, Kenneth moved to Hudson Falls for a teaching position offered to Kenneth. 

Peggy loved cross stitch, gifted many of her beautifully crafted items to family.  She enjoyed traveling across the country with her husband by her side.  Together, Peggy and Kenneth spent a lot of time camping at various campgrounds all over the country, in their camper.  In their later years together, they replaced their camper with a condo, located in St. Petersburg, Florida.  Family was the center of Peggy’s life.  She treasured the time spent with her family and will be greatly missed.

Besides her husband and parents, Peggy was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Smith and her daughter in law, Nikki Measeck. 

Survivors include her children, John Measeck of Warrensburg and Joan Jeffords (Robert) of Greenwich; 5 grandchildren; Regan, Ian, Logan, Kendra and Lindsey; 7 great grandchildren, Colin, Charlotte, Shea, Lucy, Nora, Cooper and Olivia; her brother Edward Smith (Joyce) of Penfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Monday, June 14, 2021, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will follow the calling hour at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Reverend Thomas Konopka, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will at Pine View Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.

Alfred J. “Al” Archambault

HUDSON FALLS – Alfred J. “Al” Archambault, 96, formerly of LaCrosse St. in Hudson Falls, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at the Fort Hudson Health Care Center.

Born on June 16, 1924 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Alfred and Edna (Pouliotte) Archambault.

Al was a 1943 graduate of Fort Edward High School.  Following graduation he joined the U.S Army Air Corp.  During World War II, he served as a Sergeant, in England and Europe.  Al was very proud to have been involved in the building of Orly Air Field in Paris, France during WWII.

On November 27, 1947, he married Jeannette A. LaPointe in St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls. She passed away on March 10, 2015 after 67 wonderful years of marriage.

Al worked at Erlich Supply Company in Glens Falls and also Fiske Construction Company in Hudson Falls. Finally, after working for many years with others, he decided to open his own business, Al’s Service Center, in Hudson Falls.  Al ran his shop for many years retiring in 1986.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls and a proud past president of the Hudson Falls Volunteer Fire Department.  He served his community in the fire department for 50 years.

Al liked to hunt, fish and camp.  His hunting group went to Camp Generation in the Adirondacks every year. He was a NY Giants fan and every Monday night regardless of who was playing it would find  his nephews gathering at the house to watch the game with him.

Al was very proud of his service to his country and his community.  He often spoke about friends that he made in the service and they would exchange cards on special occasions.  Often the members of the fire department would stop by the house and have a beer and a chat with him which always made him happy.

Survivors include his daughter, Diane M. A. Archambault now living in Australia; his brother Terry and wife Maryanne of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews. He was pre deceased by his sister, Elaine and his brother, Arthur.

Friends are welcome to call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery on Vaughn Rd. in the town of Kingsbury.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Fort Hudson Nursing Centre, especially, Carrie Miron, Shannon, Donna and all other staff for their care and kindness to him during his stay. Glen M. Durham

FORT EDWARD – Glen M. Durham, 49, of Fort Edward, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born December 25, 1971 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Calvin and Sheila Durham.

Glen enjoyed his time working by his fathers’ side at their business, “Painting with Pride”.  He loved being around his family and friends and just having a good time.  Glen will be remembered always as a shoulder to lean on and an ear to listen.

Survivors include his parents, Calvin and Sheila Durham of Fort Edward; his two sons, Matthew and Jonathan Durham; his brothers, Calvin Durham and his wife, Barb and Dean Durham and his wife, Tammy, Bill Durham and his wife, Tristina and Danny Durham; his two sisters, Sheila Eggleston and her husband Richard, II, Nina Durham ”Me-Too” and Chris Ringer.  Glen also enjoyed the company of all his nieces and nephews, Cal III, Shyann, Savannah, Dean-o, Dakota “Big D”, Riley “the Rocket”, Reese, Peyton, Sadie, Chloe, Piper, Quinn, Jax; his great niece, Elena and his great nephews, Cameron, Nikolas and Christopher.

The graveside service will be private, at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Everyone is welcome to a gathering at Saluto’s Pub, 186 Main St., in Hudson Falls, following the calling hours.
