James William Young

Young, JHUDSON FALLS – James William Young, 76, of 8th Ave, went into the arms of the Lord, on Monday, September 8, 2014, at this home, with his family by his side.

Born on January 16, 1938, in Fort Edward, he was the son of the late William Clarence and Eleanor (Caprood) Young.

James was a 1956 graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

Following his graduation, he served in the US Army from 1956 to 1962. James worked for General Electric Company in Hudson Falls and Fort Edward as a Leader Welder, until his retirement after 35 years of service.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls, where he served as an usher, James was a member of the Arthur S. Kiffin, Knights of Columbus, in Hudson Falls, past President of the Olde Saratoga Seniors in Schuylerville and a member of the Wilton Senior Citizens.

James loved to try his luck at the casinos and he loved to play bingo, he worked bingo ant the K of C on Wednesday’s for many years. He loved to travel and go on cruises and fish and hunt. Most of all he loved watching his grandchildren play basketball.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Elizabeth (Robichaud) Young and his sister in law, Patricia Young.

James is survived by his fiancé and caregiver, Barbara VanNess of Hudson Falls; his son, Jamie Young and his wife, Nicole of Fort Edward; his grandchildren, Austin, Makenzie and Jaxon; his brothers, Jack Young and his wife, Janice of South Glens Falls and Michael Young of Hudson Falls; his caregiver, whom he thought of as a sister, Lucy Welden; his sisters in law, Patricia Robichaud and Evelyn Robichaud; his friends and neighbors, Fay Pat and Billy, who was like a son to him; his two dogs Butterscotch and Dixie; his cat Sassy; friends and neighbors, to numerous to mention; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Wednesday, September 10 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Oliver N. “ Ollie” Ploof

PloofSouth Glens Falls – Oliver N. “ Ollie” Ploof, 80, of South Glens Falls, passed away at home, Thursday, September 4, 2014, surrounded by his loving family after a hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born September 30, 1933, in Burlington, Vermont, he was the son of the late Raymond J. and Dorothy L. (Gelinas) Ploof.

Oliver graduated from Cathedral High School, and then attended St. Michael’s College in Burlington, Vermont.  He enlisted in the US Army.  On September 26, 1953, Oliver married Jacqueline B. Chicoine at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception.

He spent his entire career working for the Grand Union Co., starting as a young humble cheese cutter, working his way up the ladder to Vice President.

Oliver was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church where he held numerous positions in the church ministry and faith formation. He also volunteered for Caritas and was a ski instructor for the Adaptive Ski Program at Double H. Hole in the Woods.

Oliver was a quiet, unassuming and fervent supporter of the poor, the cold, the homeless, the hungry and the children of the world.  He loved and deeply appreciated the natural beauty of God’s world.  A hike in the woods with his dog, Duncan, skiing down the mountains with family and friends, Peter and Frank, a walk along an ocean beach, and the sunrise and sunsets viewed from his home with his wife by his side, gave him the most joy.

Besides his parents, Oliver was predeceased by his brothers, Leo Ploof and Calvin Ploof, Sr.., and his sisters, Helen Thayer, Phyllis Devoid and Catherine Couillard.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Jacqueline B. Ploof; his children, Rod Ploof and his wife, Diane, Michelle P. Chevalier and her husband, Michael, Roxanne  Benoit, Marie Colbert, and Mark J. Ploof and his wife, Kate; his grandchildren, Ryan Chevalier and his wife, Larissa, Amanda Ploof, Bradley Chevalier, Laura Landry and her husband, Keith, Mark Benoit, Alexandra Benoit, Abigail Ploof and Bowen Oliver Ploof; his siblings, Richard Ploof and his wife, Barbara, Raymond Ploof and his wife, Norma, Charles Ploof, Sr., James Ploof, Sr. and his wife, Beverly, Sister Lucy Ploof RSM, Edward Ploof and his wife, Doris, Pam Gagnon and her husband, Joseph, Marjorie Limacher and her husband, Arthur, Patrick Ploof and his wife, Violet; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

The Rite of Committal will take place at 1:30 p.m.,  at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Veterans Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.

Ollie’s family would like to acknowledge with hearts full of gratitude the care he received from Dr. Richard Farrell and his compassionate staff, and the gentle souls of Christine, Linda and Lisa for helping us care for him at home during the last months of his earthly journey.

Philip J. Winslow

WinslowHUDSON FALLS – Philip J. Winslow, 75, of Quarry Crossing, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, August 30, 2014.

Born on October 4, 1938 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Buell and Lillian (Terrio) Winslow.

Philip was very proud to have received his high school diploma and also to have served his county in the United States Navy.

On March 10, 1968, he married Janet Jessey in Hudson Falls. They have enjoyed 46 wonderful years of marriage.

For 38, years, Philip worked at The Post Star, retiring as a circulation supervisor. He loved his job because it gave him the opportunity to meet many people and to make many friends.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls and a member of the Glens Falls Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge # 81.

Philip loved his motorcycle, but most of all he cherished his granddaughter, Krystal and his entire family.   He enjoyed his life and took great pleasure in laughing and making others smile. Philip was also very proud of his home, his yard and his pool and delighted in making sure they were in tip top shape.

Besides his parents, Philip was predeceased by his four sisters and six brothers.

Survivors include his loving wife, Janet Winslow of Hudson Falls; a son, Kenny Winslow and his wife, Dawn of Hudson Falls; his granddaughter, Krystal Winslow of Hudson Falls; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many wonderful friends.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 959 Route 9, Mount Royal Plaza, Queensbury, NY 12804.

Frank DeLuke, Sr

DeLukeHUDSON FALLS formerly of DUANESBURG – Frank DeLuke, Sr., 89, of Hudson Falls, formerly of Duanesburg, passed into the arms of the Lord, at Glens Falls Hospital on August 27, 2014.

Born March 9, 1925, in Duanesburg in the family farmhouse, he was the son of the late John and Teresa (Palmeri) DeLuke.

Frank was a 1943 graduate of Delanson High School in Duanesburg.

On July 23, 1960, Frank married Carole Szarafinski at St. Adalbert’s in Schenectady.

For over 60 years Frank was a member of the Operating Engineers AFL- CIO Local 106 International Union of Albany as an Operating Engineer and also for Schenectady County Highway Department. For many years he was a volunteer fireman for Duanesburg. He was a member of the Elks #2157 of Rotterdam for over 23 years. During WWII he served in the U.S. Civil Defence Corp in Schenectady County.

Frank enjoyed his work, fishing, going to county fairs, spending time with his family, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and boating on Sacandaga Lake with his brother in law, Herbert Bell.   He was very proud of his grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his daughter, Barbara DeLuke; his sisters, Antionette Nielsen and Anna Bell and his brothers, Anthony DeLuke and James DeLuke.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Carole DeLuke of Hudson Falls; his children, Jeffrey DeLuke and his wife, Sheila of Mississippi, Frank DeLuke and his wife, Maureen of South Glens Falls; his grandchildren Logan DeLuke and his wife, Amanda, Levi DeLuke, Carson DeLuke, Xavier DeLuke, Aidan DeLuke, and his buddy, Lila DeLuke; his siblings, Nancy Tucker, Mary DeLuke, Margaret Gilday and her husband, James, Ethel Agresta and her husband, Ernest, John DeLuke and his wife, Trudy; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A family viewing will be private.

The Rite of Committal will be held 3 p.m. on Saturday, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 100 Kings Road in Schenectady.

Carla Joan Gilman

Gilman old Gilman youngGLENS FALLS – Carla Joan Gilman, 74, of Glens Falls, went into the arms of the Lord on August 25, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born April 24, 1940, in the town of Moreau, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth E. and Rose M. (Guyette) Ingraham.

Carla was a graduate of Hartford School, where she was a member of the Future Home Makers of America.

Carla worked as a seamstress for Perfect Fit in Comar; she worked on the janitorial staff at the Glens Falls Hospital and maintenance at JC Penney’s.  While working for JC Penney’s, she received an award for having the cleanest store in the North East

Carla was baptized, taught Sunday school for 3rd graders and sang in the choir at Hartford Yoked Baptist Church. She also taught Sunday School at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Rockwell Road in Queensbury.  Until her illness prevented her from going, she attended New Life Baptist Church in Hudson Falls.

Carla loved bingo, flowers, gardening, milking the goats at the fair and all animals.  Carla made many friends and touched many lives during her life.

Besides her parents, Carla was predeceased by an infant sister, Sally Anne Ingraham.

Survivors include her children, Steven Kilmer and his wife, Pat of Fort Edward, Lori Anne Kilmer–Payne and her husband, Michael of Glens Falls, Dorraine Gilman of Queensbury and Christina Lynn Gilman of Queensbury; her ten grandchildren, Nathaniel Kilmer, Liza Kilmer, Shawna Payne, Rebecca Payne and Christopher Payne, Adam Wall, Meghan Wall and Tanner Wall and Joel Davis and Gregory Davis; nine great grandchildren Addison Wall, Aidan Wall, Lily Tennent,  Alexander Payne, Tayveon Moore, Amari Moore, Moriah Davis, Mallory Davis and Joseph Davis; her brothers and sisters, Nancy Nichols and her husband Richard of North Carolina, Terry Ingraham and his wife, Monica of Florida, Thomas Ingraham and his wife, Betty of Georgia and Keith Ingraham and his wife, Rachael of North Carolina; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Margaret (Sookie) VanWie Hogan

HUDSON FALLS – Hogan 1 (Copy) Hogan 2 (Copy), 81, passed away, surrounded by her loving family at her home, on Sunday, August 24, 2014.

 Born in Schenectady on August 14, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Augustus and Helen (Sorensen) VanWie. She is also predeceased by her step father, Bill Sharrow.

 She graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1951 and worked at the New York Telephone Company until she married her love, Roger, on February 20, 1954. Margaret then stayed at home to raise her six children.

 She was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls and was a member of the Glens Falls Hospital Guild.

When the music started, Sookie and Roger were the first to hit the dance floor and the last to leave when the party ended. She was a bargain shopper at heart, always saying she saved Roger money, but could never produce the cash to prove it. She loved to bake, filling her children’s lunches with home baked treats. Fresh baked cookies were awaiting their return from school each day. Most of all, she enjoyed the time spent with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by, her son-in-law Donald Marry.

Besides her husband, Roger, she is survived by her children, Peggy Hogan Marry of South Glens Falls, Francis (Cynthia) Hogan of South Glens Falls, Judith Hogan of Hudson Falls, Roger Hogan Jr. of Warrensburg, Missouri, Mark Hogan and his partner Rob Saba of Saratoga Springs, and Peter Hogan of Hudson Falls; 15 Grandchildren, Sean (Lori) Marry, Ryan (Richard) Bauer, Meghan (Kurt) Theis, Caitlin Hogan (fiancé, Scott Morgan) Kevin (Sarah) Kill, Julia (Todd) Cheney, Liz (Mike) Hollis, Monica Hogan (fiancé Daniel Brant), Keith Hogan, Matthew Hogan, Christian Hogan, Michael Hogan, Michael Archambault, Ashley Archambault and Ben Hogan; her 14 great grandchildren, Jack, Reese and Abigail Marry, Hudson and Quinn Bauer, Evan and Henry Theis, Ava, Sophia and Sebastian Kill, Kendall, Kamryn and Caylen Cheney, and Micah Hollis; her brothers , Dan (Janet) VanWie, Ed (Betty) Sharrow, Ronnie Sharrow, William Sharrow and Timothy Sharrow; several brothers and sisters in law; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Margaret’s family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Glens Falls Hospital and especially Dr. Amy Hogan-Moulton, who always made sure Mom had the best of care. Also special thanks to Dr. Surendra Nevatia and Dr. Michael Layden.

Angenette “Annie” R. Knowlton

HUDSON FALLS – Angenette “Annie” R. Knowlton, 86, formerly of Pine Street, passed away, peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2014, at the Stanton Health Care Facility in Queensbury.

Born on March 19, 1928, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe C. and May Knowlton.

Annie worked very hard for over 42 years at CR Bard in Queensbury, where she made many friends.

 Years ago she attended The Glens Falls United Methodist Church and the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church.

 Annie enjoyed watching game shows and playing bingo. She was a unique person who called it, like she saw it. Annie will be remembered as a kind and giving person. She loved taking her young nieces and nephews on shopping trips and going on short outings.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, an infant baby sister, Frances Hafner and Clarice Bennett; and her brother, George Knowlton.

She is survived by her sister, Carol Maille of Hudson Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

Graveside services will be conducted at a later date at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Frederick H. Fisk

FiskGANSEVOORT – Frederick H. Fisk of Leonard Street passed away, on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at his home with his loving wife and family by his side.

Frederick was born on March 6, 1928, in Durkeetown, NY he was the son of the late Frederick and Helen (Rosa) Fisk.

A wonderful 57 year marriage to Olga S. Sepe resulted in five children; Paul Fisk, Frederick Fisk, John Fisk, Lisa Kelly, and Lori Smith, and grandchildren; Rebecca, Ginevra, Dana, Tyler, Josey, Liam, and Madeline, all survivors. He lived by and taught his children the principles of honesty, working hard, and giving others the benefit of the doubt. He loved his wife with a passion seldom seen and sacrificed much for his children.

In his youth Frederick traveled around the world many times in his fourteen years in the Merchant Marines. He served in the army for two years during the Korean war. Until retirement in 1990 he was a self-employed building contractor with Fisk Enterprises in Hudson Falls, NY and F. Fisk Construction in Wilton, NY.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Dewitt and Winfield and his sister Helen.

Friends are invited to call from 11 to 12 Noon on Thursday August 21st, 2014 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Gladys (Fasoli) Swigert

Swigert 2 Swigert 1FORT EDWARD – Gladys (Fasoli) Swigert, 99, of The Oaks, passed away peacefully, on Friday, August 15, 2014, at the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in Fort Edward.

Born on February 28, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Yula (Ashley) Fasoli.

On December 21, 1944, she married Robert Mason Swigert, Sr., in Stamford, Conn. After almost 50 wonderful years of marriage, he passed away on August 23, 1994.

Gladys graduated with a teaching degree from Hartwick College in Oneonta. After teaching for a few years, she decided to continue her education at Albany State, graduating with a degree in chemistry.

Gladys spent most of her life as a research chemist. In the mid 1950’s, she was one of the first woman to work with an electron microscope. Gladys was employed for many years at Imperial, later known as Hercules and Ciba Geigy in Queensbury.  Following her and her husband’s retirement, they took a six month trip to the South Pacific.   During their retirement, Gladys and her husband spent part of the year in Florida and part at their camp on the Hudson River.

For her entire life, Gladys had a desire to learn.   While in her 80’s she signed up for a class in microbiology while living in Florida. Gladys knew more than the professor and ended up teaching the class.   She also was a mineralogist with a beautiful collection of minerals and cut gems. She and her husband contributed mineral collections to the Pember Museum in Granville and supplied study minerals to the geology department at Adirondack Community College.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her three brothers, Paul Fasoli, Stewart Fasoli and Louie Fasoli.

Survivors include her son, Robert M. Swigert, Jr. of Hudson Falls; three grandchildren, Robert M. Swigert, III of Statenn Island, Ryan Swigert and his companion, Alyssa Kopacki of Hadley and Ashley Swigert and her companion, Kurt Brown of Corinth; her great grandson, Tyler Brown of Corinth; her brother, Leland Fasoli and his wife, Janice; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many wonderful friends at The Oaks.

Friends may call on Saturday, August 23, 2014, from 11 to 1 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Prayers will be offered by Reverend Arthur Hewitt at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Following the prayers, Gladys will be laid to rest next to her husband at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

The family wishes to thank Gladys’ special friend, Eleanor Pearson and the entire staff at The Oaks for their love and support. They also deeply appreciate everyone at the Fort Hudson Health Care Center.

Michael Carl Hamell

HamellGLENS FALLS – Michael Carl Hamell, 67, passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at Glens Falls Hospital following a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

 Mike was born on Sept. 29, 1946, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Carl A. Hamell and Wanda (Finch) Hamell.

 He was a 1966 graduate of Queensbury High School.

 Mike married his beloved wife, Kathleen A. (Healy) Hamell on April 17, 1971.

 He worked for 43 years at Northern Distributing Co. Inc. which became Saratoga Eagle Sales and Service.

Mike enjoyed all of visits from friends and family while he was going through his battle with cancer, all the wonderful nurses and staff that were so very kind to him along his journey, he looked forward to seeing all of you.

He also enjoyed playing his cigar box guitar his brother Rene made him, going fishing, hunting, golf and playing cards. He enjoyed watching hockey, he was a huge NASCAR fan, listening to music and going out to eat with friends and family and taking a nice ride throughout our beautiful area.

Michael was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, his baby brother, his mother and father-in-law, Doris and Bernard Healy, his loving niece Theresa Chwazik and many aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kathy of Glens Falls; his great aunt, Lillian Powers of Warrensburg, his aunt, Audy Hanley of South Glens Falls; his sisters and brothers, Judith Gardner and her husband, Jeff of Coxsackie, N.Y., Carol Sodemann and her husband, John of Saratoga Springs, Rene Hamell and his wife, Donna of Queensbury, David Hamell and his wife, Karen of Queensbury, Nancy Potter and her husband, Earl of South Glens Falls, Deborah Sullivan and her husband, John of Glens Falls and Roberta Crofut of South Glens Falls; his sister-in-law, Margaret Farrell and her husband, Ralph of Glens Falls; his two brothers-in law, Edward Healy and his wife, Deborah of Queensbury and Bernard Healy and his wife, Barbara of Glens Falls; 30 nieces and nephews who he loved dearly and was very proud of all their accomplishments; 60 great-nieces and nephews and many cousins and very dear friends.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Main Street, South Glens Falls.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to all the wonderful people at the Charles R. Wood Cancer Center who made going for his treatments a very pleasant visit, Diane, Lisa, all of his wonderful nurses that told him to “go to his room and they would be right in made his treatment days enjoyable” and you treated him like family, he felt truly blessed because of all of you and all of your kindness.

A special thank you, to Dr. Stoutenberg who was always there for Mike.  Lauren Cabana and Donna Boss and all of the wonderful staff at the doctor’s office. Dr. Jason Heckman at St. Peter’s Hospital and all of his staff. All of the Nurses, Tech’s, Ward Secretaries, the Radiology Department and Staff, Housekeeping Staff on T2 and the ICU at Glens Falls Hospital, we thank you for all the help and care you gave to Mike at this very difficult time in his life.

Sandra Jean Kearns

Kearns, SandraHARTFORD – Sandra Jean Kearns, 58, of Hartford, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Massachusetts.

Born February 24, 1956, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Anna (Crossman) Morse.

Sandra graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1974.

For 30 years she was employed by Cumberland Farms and worked as a manager in the Greenwich store for many years.

Sandra liked going camping, crocheting, puzzle books, going fishing, making ceramics, and playing volley ball. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Sandra loved playing cards and dice games with her family and having cook outs.

Besides her parents, Sandra was predeceased by her siblings, James Morse, William Morse, Robert Morse, George Morse, Nada Clark; her sister in law, Rhoda Morse; and her brother in law, Edward Corlew.

Survivors include her children, Angela Ballard of Corinth, Beth Barker and her husband, Dana of New Jersey, Cassandra “CJ” Kearns of Hartford; her siblings Edwin Morse of Hudson Falls, Ronald Morse and his wife, Gene of Vermont, John “Jack” Morse of Queensbury, Jeanette “Jill” Corlew of Hudson Falls, Carlise Dalpe and her husband, Ed of South Glens Falls; as well as her ten grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends may call, Saturday at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street Hudson Falls.

The Funeral Service will follow calling hours at 1 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mary Theresa Vandenburgh Campney

Campney cropHUDSON FALLS – Mary Theresa Vandenburgh Campney, 69, of Hudson Falls, joined her husband in Heaven on Saturday, August 9, 2014.

Born January 24, 1945, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Beecher and Madeline (Stark) Vandenburgh.

Mary married George Campney, who passed away April 13, 2005.

She worked as a housekeeper for the Flacke family in Lake George.

Mary loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved playing cards and having a few cocktails with her neighbor, Robin. She liked the races at Saratoga with Denise and Fran.  She loved her  cats, Buttercup and Gizmo, and her dog, Babe.

Survivors include her children, Theresa Huntington and her husband, Wesley of Whitehall, Denise Rodriguez and her husband, Fransico of South Hadley, Massachusetts, Beecher Campney and his friend, Moses of Albany; her grandchildren, Andrea and her two sons, Izaek and Thaddeus of Whitehall, Matthew and his wife, Whitney, and their son Tate of South Glens Falls, Amanda of Massachusetts, Fransico Sr. of Massachusetts; her brother William “Bill” Vandenburgh of Glens Falls; her close friend, who was like a sister to her,  Bessy and her husband, Ray Morse; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street , Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, following calling hours, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls with Rev. Joseph Manerowski, pastor officiating.

The Rite of Committal will be private.

Joyce (Hall) Bacon

Bacon OldHUDSON FALLS – bacon
, 79, formerly of Mohican Terrace, passed away, peacefully, in her sleep, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility.

Born on September 6, 1934, in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late Cornell and Edith (Ignazewski) Hall.

Joyce was a 1952 graduate of Hudson Falls High School and on December 24, 1952, she married George I. Bacon in Hudson Falls.

Joyce enjoyed gardening and was very proud of her beautiful flowers.   She loved to go antiquing, looking for interesting objects such as snow babies and half dolls.  Joyce was also a wonderful and patient caregiver to her friends and family.  She was an avid bird watcher, enjoying them at her feeders around her home.   Joyce was a great mother, doting grandmother and a wonderful mentor as a sister.  She was very knowledgeable on most subjects but especially of history and genealogy.  Joyce had a great thirst for knowledge that she carried throughout her life.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Terry Bacon.

Survivors include her three children, Colleen Conley(Stephen Mylott) of Hudson Falls, Arthur Bacon and his wife, Wendy of Hudson Falls and Lianne Cottrell of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Jamie Kessler and her husband, Chris of Florida, Lindsay Bacon of Hudson Falls and Casey Cottrell of Florida; one great grandson, Maximus Kessler of Florida; her sister, Shirley Flewelling of Queensbury; her brother, Jack Hall and his wife, Kathy of Bolton Landing; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours

Private graveside services will be conducted at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
