Richard “Dick” J. Camfield

Camfield, R.GLENS FALLS – Richard “Dick” J. Camfield,66, of Glens Falls, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 15, 2016, with his family by his side.

Born April 11, 1949 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Charles and Doris (LaVoy) Camfield.

Richard attended St. Mary’s Academy and was a class of 1968 Glens Falls High School graduate.  After high school, he attended BOCES where he obtained certification for sheet metal fabrication.

On June 29, 1981, he married Gail Marie Young in Glens Falls. They were married for 33 wonderful years until she passed away November 20, 2014.

Richard worked for Ames Goldsmith in Glens Falls, North East Heating Supply in Glens Falls and also Genesee Refrigeration.

He was a simple man but a hard worker and great provider who always put his family first.  Richard was wonderful caring father and grandfather who loved spending time with his daughter and grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife, Richard was predeceased by his grandmother, Ruby Morris, his aunt, who was like a second mother, Helene Sullivan Dever, and his brothers in law, Michael, James and Sam Young.

Survivors include his daughter, Heather Harrington and her husband, Scott of Glens Falls; his grandchildren, Brett Harrington and Tess Harrington; his sister, Katherine Rielly and her husband, Mike of NJ; his brother, Peter Camfield and his wife, Ellen of Rochester; his cousins, which he shared a home with growing up, Sarah Basta and her late husband, John, Joe Sulllivan and his wife, Nancy, Jerry Sullivan and John “Jack” Sullivan; his sisters in law, Connie Crosier of Whitehall, Maureen Young of Whitehall and Carol Young, also of Whitehall; his brother in law, Tim Young and his wife, Cathy of PA; his aunt, Marge Campfield; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, at St. Michael’s Church in South Glens Falls, with Rev. Tony Childs, pastor, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will be in the spring at Glens Falls Cemetery on Bay Street in the City of Glens Falls.

Richards family would like to thank Patty and Phil from High Peaks Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., for their care and support given to Richard and his family.

Jo-Ann Williams

WilliamsSOUTH GLENS FALLS – Jo-Ann Williams, was welcomed into heaven on February 13, 2016, to celebrate Valentine’s Day with her beloved husband.  She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, after suffering many years from heart disease and subsequently, renal failure.

Born on March 2, 1944, in Glens Falls, she was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Laura Pelicone.

She graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School, where she met and soon married the love of her life, Gordon Williams.  They had celebrated 45 years of marriage, before Gordon’s unexpected death in 2007.

Despite her illness, Jo-Ann lived a full life.  She was a talented pianist, who could be found at her piano singing Gospel songs any given day, many times with her husband and daughters accompanying her.  For many years, she played for the congregation at the Cornerstone Full Gospel Church.  She had strong faith and a sharp tongue.  Jo-Anne was witty and smart, never failing to tell you how it is.  She was happiest surrounded by her family.  Jo-Ann loved her many nieces and nephews and enjoyed their visits immensely, making many wonderful memories together.  Jo-Ann enjoyed camping, spending time around her pool and cooking.  Only in recent years, she would she admit that her son’s spaghetti sauce was better than hers. She touched the lives of all who knew her.  Her life left a lasting impression on our hearts.

Besides her parents, Jo-Ann was also predeceased by Gordon and their infant son, Jeffrey, her sisters, Elizabeth and Sandra and her brothers, Stillman, Charles and Frederick, as well as their spouses, whom she loved and many brothers and sisters in law, whom she also was very close.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, James G. Williams, Tammy C. Langley and her husband, Richard and Jody Rae Higgins and her husband, Daryl; her grandchildren, James G. Williams, Jr. (Briana), Derek F. Williams (Alexandria), Shane H. Rivers (Alissa), Tianna T. Higgins and Michael J. Higgins; great granddaughter,Gianna Morris and soon to be great grandchild, Aadilyn Grace; as well as her brother, Joseph Pelicone and his wife, Flo; and many other brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Friday, at the Gospel Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Hudson Falls, 30 LaCrosse Street in Hudson Falls.

Burial will be in the spring at Morningside Cemetery in the town of Hartford.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kandora for his dedication and compassion to her wellbeing as well as the staff and residents of the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility for bring her so much happiness in recent years.

Lana Marie (Waldron) Varney

Varney 1 Varney 2SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Lana Marie (Waldron) Varney, 60, of South Glens Falls and formerly of North Creek, passed away peacefully of February 10, 2016, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.

Born on August 23, 1955 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Emma (Harvey) Waldron, Sr.

Lana attended Johnsburg Central School and on June 22, 1975, she married Albert Varney at St. Michael The Archangel Church in South Glens Falls.

Lana loved to play cards, especially pinochle and also enjoyed listening to all kinds of music.  Lana was very fond of her cat, George, who was her “Baby Boy”.  She was very fortunate to be a stay at home mom, who raised her five children.  Her world centered around her children, whom she kept in touch daily. Lana always gave her best to her kids.  She gave them her love, her complete devotion, her advice and also enjoyed teaching them how to swim, especially at night.  Lana was very close to her sisters and will be deeply missed by them.   She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.   Their world will not be the same without her. 

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Lois “Suki” Hoffis and her brothers, Daniel Waldron, Jr. and William Waldron.

Survivors include her loving husband of 41 years, Albert Varney of South Glens Falls; her five children, Crystal Marie Varney and her fiancé, James Selleck of North Creek, Jamie Lee Varney-Daniels and her husband, Kent of Wilton, Albert Henry Varney, Jr. of South Glens Falls, Ashley Ann Varney and her companion, Mary Bancroft of Hudson Falls and Amber Lynn Varney of South Glens Falls; her granddaughter, Rain Lana-Josafine Selleck; her siblings, Linda Patterson, Loni Rowe, Lisa Fairbairn, Lanette Waldron, Lori Descalarre, Laura Waldron, Sue Hanchette and Larry Waldron; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Raymond F. White

White, RaymondQueensbury – Raymond F. White, 77, of Queensbury passed away on February 10, 2016, after a long illness.

Born on December 23, 1938 in Hudson Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Floyd C. and Sada (Orton) White. In the 1950’s his family purchased a 28 acre farm on Dix Avenue. This is where he would raise several prize winning cattle for a 4-H project, one of which was a pure bred Holstein heifer calf that won first place, three years in a row, at the Washington County Fair.

Ray graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1960, and would go on to spend his life working in the paper industry. He was employed by Hudson Pulp and Paper Company in Thomson from 1961 to 1979, and later at Victory Specialty Packaging in Victory Mills where he retired in 1992.

On October 2, 1965, he married Joan Wood in Gansevoort, and they enjoyed 40 years of marriage.

Ray enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, camping, fishing, gardening, country music, western tv shows, superman and playing his accordion.

He was predeceased by his wife Joan, after 40 years of marriage, who died in 2006, a son, Gordon Clarence White, who died in 1966 several days after birth, a sister Helen Buckley Perry, who died in 1999, and a brother Charles White, who died in 2010.

Survivors include his four children, Tonia Ray and her husband, Bill of South Glens Falls; Vanessa Lemery and her husband, Dave of South Glens Falls; Albert Wallace Logan and his wife, Terri of Schuylerville, and Regina Shaw and her husband, William of Warrensburg; eleven grandchildren, Rosa Lee and Dylan Ray of South Glens Falls, Hailey and Emily Lemery of South Glens Falls, Katie Lemery Hicks of Queensbury, Christopher Lemery of Glens Falls, David Lemery II of Chicago, Katie Logan of New Jersey, Eugene “T.J.” Kelly, Permelia “Pam” Kelly Shaw, and Gordon McGowan, all of Warrensburg, five great grand-children, Jacob and Connor Hicks of Queensbury, and William, Patrick, and Carrie Jane Kelly of Warrensburg; one Brother Edward White and his wife Doris, of Florida; several nieces, nephews, cousins; his close childhood friend Chuck Willis; a close family friend Mary Altare, who always made him smile, and his close friend and neighbor Roger Corlew, who always stopped in to visit.

Ray’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of his care givers for the excellent care given to him during his last years of life, the EMT’s, at Bay Ridge Rescue Squad, and the wonderfully caring people at Glens Falls Hospital on 3 North, especially Belinda, who was more than just a nurse.

Shirley Ann Parker

ParkerWHITEHALL – Shirley Ann Parker, 82, of Whitehall, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016.

Born on August 9, 1933 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Leland Hams and Mae Johnston.

On October 11, 1952,  she married Leonard M. Parker in Fort Ann.  He passed away Sept 1, 1999.

Shirley loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  They were everything to her. She also enjoyed NASCAR, crosswords, scratch offs and trips to the casino.

Besides her husband and parents, two daughters, Daina Parker and Diane Dixon also passed away before her.

Survivors include two sons, David Parker and his wife, Linda, of Queensbury and Daniel Parker and his companion Janie Burnham of Queensbury; six daughters, Debbie Parker and Dawn Donnelly, both of Queensbury, Darlene Roblee and her husband, Joe, of Hudson Falls, Deanna Stark and her companion, Paul Winchell of Fort Ann, Denise Palmer of Old Forge, and Daphne Tripp and her companion Brian Tucker of Argyle; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and several cousins.  She is also survived by her significant other, Robert “George” Steves of Whitehall; his two daughters, Kathy Steves of Whitehall and Sheila and Steve Hluschewskyj  of Massachusetts; his two sons, Bob and Beth Steves of Hartford and Ray and Diane Steves of Oregon and Shirley and George’s special love, their dog Molly.

Edna Andersen

Andersen Military AndersenHUDSON FALLS – Edna Andersen, 89, of Burgoyne Ave, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 4, 2015 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on December 4, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Knud C. and Jessie (Hanes) Andersen.

While working in a clothing factory in Glens Falls, Edna was notified that she was going to be laid off, so on her lunch break, she enlisted in the United States Air Force.  Following that day, Edna spent much of her life in the service of her country.  She traveled the world from 1952 to 1972, until her retirement as a Staff Sergeant at Plattsburgh Air Force Base.  Edna liked a little of everything, but no particular thing.  She always looked forward to visitors.

In addition to her parents, Edna was predeceased by her sisters, Isabel Vera Mills and Ella Violet Jones, her nephews, Jay Thomas VanVranken, Richard Thomas Jones and Charles Graves, her brothers in law, Richard Jones and Thomas VanVranken and step brother, Jim Gibson.

She is survived by her sister, Elsie VanVranken of Hudson Falls; many nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; her step brothers, Roy, Bob and Tom Gibson; her half-brother, Eric Andersen; special family members, Tom VanVranken and his companion, Bonnie Greene, Christina Graves, Kristy Macey and her husband, Patrick, Windy Clark and her husband, Randy and their children, Coty and Curtis Clark, Jay Thomas VanVranken, II and his wife, Tabitha and their children, Jay Thomas III and family, Cara VanVranken and family and Landon, Misty VanVranken and  her children, Madison and Kolby Kieft.

Graveside services with full military honors will be conducted on Friday, at 1:30 p.m. February 12, 2016 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.

Lois E. Olden

OldenHUDSON FALLS – Lois E. Olden, 54, of John Street, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at Albany Medical Center, with her family by her side.

Born on February 14, 1961 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Golda (Hammond) Olden.

Lois was a graduate of North Warren Central, class of 1979.

She loved going to garage sales and collected everything and anything that she bought.   Lois had a large collection of jewelry and dolphins, to name a few things.   She was loved by all her “adopted kids” and grandchildren.  Lois made everyone who walked through her doors, feel like family.   Her family which included her dogs, were the most important part of her life.  She enjoyed arts and crafts, which included beading with her kids and needlework.

Besides her parents, Lois was predeceased by her life partner of 25 years, Jerry “Joe” Phillips, Donald Dubay, who was father of her beloved sons, her six brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her children, Craig Olden, Sr. and his wife, Sharon of Hudson Falls, Cody Olden and his partner, Sarah Shaw, also of Hudson Falls, Jillian Phillips-Turner of Glens Falls, Justine Phillips of Clifton Park and Donna Marie Moses of Schroon Lake; her 27 grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Hollis Olden, Sr. of Whitehall, Daniel Olden and his wife, Janet of Queensbury, David Olden and his wife, Diana of Bakers Mills, Royce Olden of Hudson Falls, Shirley Venner and her husband, William of Hartford and Kevin Olden and his wife, Cynthia of Warrensburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sherrie Sue Storlie

StorlieHUDSON FALLS – Sherrie Sue Storlie, 67, of John Street, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, January 31, 2016.

Born March 22, 1948 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of late William and Margaret Ann (Barrows) Gonyea, Sr.

Sherrie attended Hadley-Luzerne High School and in November of 1965, she married Wayne Storlie, Sr.

Sherrie was a homemaker, who brought up four perfect angels, her son and daughters.  During her life, she attended Corinth Wesleyan Church and was a 4-H leader when her children were young.  She was an animal lover, especially cats.  Sherrie was a huge Elvis Presley fan and loved listening to his music.  She was young at heart and always taught her children good basic morals.  Faith was important to Sherrie and she sent her children to Sunday School.  Sherrie was a fighter and struggled with her illness.  She was a wonderful wife, loving mother, devoted grandmother and great grandmother.  Sherrie will be missed by her family and her friends.

Besides her parents, Sherrie was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Gonyea, Sr. and her sister, Margaret “Peggy” Chapman.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne Storlie, Sr. of Hudson Falls; her four children, Wayne Storlie, Jr. and his wife of Winchester, Kentucky, Sandie Fuller of Glens Falls, Cheryl Owen and her husband, Jon of Winchester, Kentucky and Cathie Storlie of Hudson Falls; her seven grandchildren, Andrea Storlie, Tyler Storlie, Chris Fuller, Albert “Joey” Fuller, Tobey Fuller, Lynn Becknell and Ashley Becknell; one great grandson, Jameson Montgomery Garland; her brother, William Gonyea and his wife, Rebecca of Spartanburg, SC; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Silas E. Stockman

StockmanGLENS FALLS – Silas E. Stockman, 97, of Glens Falls peacefully reunited with his wife in Heaven on January 30, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born August 17, 1918, in Rouses Point, he was the son of the late Elmer and Agnes Stockman.

In December of 1940, Silas married the love of his life, Edith (Willis), in Saratoga. They were married for 73 years.

Silas served in the Army as a Corporal during World War II in Italy and Germany.

The Stockman’s resided in Florida for 16 years. They decided to move back to the area to be closer to family.

Silas was a very handy, self­employed carpenter, who built homes by hand for members of his own family as well as local families. He built his first car, a Model­T, from parts. He loved to camp with his family and did so for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great­grandchildren at many family parties, of which, he reminisced right up until his death.

Besides his parents, Silas was predeceased by his two brothers, Gerald Stockman and Willard Stockman.

He was survived by his two sons, Gerald “Jerry” Stockman Sr. and his wife Janet of Fort Ann,

John Stockman and his wife, Brenda of Plattsburgh; a very special granddaughter, Shirley Padasak and her husband, Steve, Gerald Stockman Jr. and his wife, Mindy, David Stockman and his wife, Ronda, Paul Stockman and his wife, Jen, Angie Stockman, Emily Stockman­Carr and her husband, Nick, Claire Stockman and her fiance, Justin; several great­grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday from 10 to 11 A.M. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will follow the calling hour at 11 A.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury, where Silas will be laid to rest next to his wife.

Mary A. Hubbard

Hubbard 2SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Mary A. Hubbard, 63, of Route 197, went peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on October 8, 1952, in Rutland, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth (Brilyea ) DeLong.

Mary attended Hudson Falls High School.

On July 29, 1970, she married Terry Hubbard in Kingsbury.

For many years, Mary was a deli worker at Walmart on Route 9 in Queensbury and at Valero’s Convenient Store, just off exit 17.  At Valero’s, she had a steady following of customers who would ask just for her to help them out.  In her younger years, while working at Gurney Lane, she would babysit up to 12 children at a time, because of the love that she shared with them and the wonderful home cooking, many of the children she helped raise refer to her as Mom or Meme.  Mary took pride in making home cooked meals for family and friends.  She will be remembered by all for being the kind of person who would brighten up a room, if you were down, she could bring you back up.  She was a loving, caring matriarch of the family, that could rule with an iron fist if necessary.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by an infant son, Ricky Hubbard and her sister, Joanne Jenkins.

She is survived by her loving husband of 43, Terry Hubbard of South Glens Falls; her children, Terry Hubbard and his wife, Thelea of Indiana, Billie Joe Chambers and her husband Butch, Michael Hubbard and his wife, Crystal and Meredith Robbins and her husband, Chris, all of South Glens Falls; her grandchildren, Ricky, Sara, Tara, Dylan, Tyler, Cody and Mariya; three great grandchildren, Fisher, Hunter and Jhetta; her siblings, Raymond DeLong, Anne Corty, Linda Sumner, Rickie DeLong, Angelo DeLong, Gary DeLong and Dennis DeLong; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her pug puppies, Molly, Baby and Jema.

George R. Barnes

BarnesHUDSON FALLS – George R. Barnes, 82, of Dean Road, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 10, 1933 in Hensonville, NY, he was the son of the late Lambert and Extelsia (Haskell) Barnes.

George was a 1952 graduate of Granville High School.  Following his graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and served during the Korean War as a Radio Mechanic.

On April 6, 1958, he married Nancy LaPan at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.

First out of the Navy, he took over his brother in law’s dairy farm in Hebron.   After selling the farm, he began a long career at General Electric, retiring after 30 years.

George loved keeping his hand in farming and along with his wife, moved to the LaPan family farm. He enjoyed being outside, which included hunting in the Catskills and fishing in the Adirondacks, walking in the woods and cutting firewood. George also enjoyed traveling in his RV, vacationing to the ocean and throughout the country, including Alaska and Hawaii.  He also was an avid NASCAR follower.

George was known for wheeling and dealing.  He would buy and sell anything with a motor including cars and boats.  He also loved to help his children work on their homes.  His kids called him MacGyver, because he could fix anything with anything.  George was an excellent carpenter, creating beautiful furniture from the wood he cut in his wood lot.  He also enjoyed playing cards, including pinochle, cribbage and pitch.  He was very social.  Most of all, he loved doing activities with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his three sisters, Barbara Marchaland, Maie Juckett and Catherine Goodspeed, an infant brother and a grandson, Nigel Hodkinson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Nancy Barnes of Hudson Falls; his six children, Kathleen Moench and her husband, Douglas of Latham, Karen Rose and her husband, Gordon of Fort Washington, PA, Ann Hodkinson and her husband, Albert of Fort Washington, PA, Mary Heydrick and her husband, John of Hudson Falls, Robert Barnes and his wife, Donna of MA and Timothy Barnes and his companion, Barbara of Hudson Falls; his eight grandchildren, Samantha Moench, Alexander and Nathaniel Rose, Trevor Hodkinson, Robert and Ryan Barnes, Elizabeth Natale and Katelyn Barnes; his four great grandchildren, Sean, Hailey, Connor and Landon Barnes; two brothers, Edgar Barnes and his wife, Marion of Granville and Ronald Barnes and his wife, Barbara of Marathon, NY; his sister, Elaine Menapace and her husband, Richard of Cortland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will follow the calling hours at 7 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home, with the Reverend Thomas Babiuch, officiating.

The Rite of Committal with full military honors will be conducted at 12 noon on Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.

Following the graveside service, everyone is welcome to the family home at 189 Dean Road in Hudson Falls.

Patsy “Graz” Graziano

GrazianoHUDSON FALLS – Patsy “Graz” Graziano, 67, of Hudson Falls, went into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital with his close loving friends, Pat Monahan and Frank Battiste, at his side.

Born on August 3, 1948, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Patsy and Josephine (Russo) Graziano, previously owners of the Kingsbury Hotel.

He graduated from Hudson Falls Senior High School in 1967. He attended RBI until a motor vehicle accident made it impossible to continue.

Graz was an accountant for Construction Enterprises, where he had worked for Ron Moss, later Henry Barbieri, DaJon Brothers 2 and worked with his brother-in-law at Hugh Combs TV for awhile. In his younger years he worked for the late Frank “Chee Chee” Santoro, was a Boy Scout and was a Columbian Squire through the Knights of Columbus. He was a drummer for the “KilRoys”, a band he started, later he joined the JB Greasers and he loved deep sea fishing and being with his friends.

Graz was an avid Seahawks fan, loved the Yankees, was a “pretty good” pool player, playing at Church’s Pool Hall, and was a wonderful character who brightened up the day. He collected coins, bills and silver certificate. He loved to make people laugh, in the past several years he battled cancer courageously and was known and loved by many. Graz lived life on his own timetable and although he had some setbacks in his life, he never let anything keep him down. He was especially proud to be the Godfather to Donna Shock and Marc Monahan.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two nephews, Ronald and Jeffrey Combs, a great-niece, Christie Ferullo and his brother-in-law, Hugh Combs.

Survivors include his sister, Jean Combs of Hudson Falls; his nieces, Sandra Lortie and her husband, Raymond of Queensbury, Debra Geer and her husband John of West Fort Ann, Laurie Normandeau of Boulder, CO and Donna Shock and her husband, Chris of Hawaii; several cousins and his aunt, Antonette LaPorte.

A funeral mass will take place 11 am Tuesday at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, on the park, with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will be in the spring at, St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Graz’ family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Orchard, whom he thought of as family and the doctors and nurses on Tower 5 at the Glens Falls Hospital, for their love and compassion

Herald C. Vaughn

Vaughn Herald Vaughn Herald 1KINGSBURY – Herald C. Vaughn, of Kingsbury, 95, passed on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born January 18, 1921, in Kingsbury, he was the son of the Forrest and Mary (Wooley) Vaughn.

Herald was a graduate of White Bear Lake High School in MN and also attended Albany Business College.

He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1940 to 1946 as a Boatswain’s Mate First Class, during World War II.

On December 7, 1958, he married Lola O’Connell at St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward.

Herald was a carpenter at Local 291 and a millwright for R.D. Larrow Construction.
He enjoyed working in his wood shop and was a great craftsman.  In his younger years, Herald enjoyed snowmobiling.  He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Floyd Vaughn, his mother in law, Jane Hanley, his sister in law, Mary Bemis and his brothers in law, Chucky Bemis, Jon Hall and Willis O’Connell.

Survivors include his wife, Lola (O’Connell) Vaughn of Kingsbury; his children, David Vaughn and his wife, Kathy of Queensbury., Susan Bolton of Brant Lake, Darrin Vaughn of Glens Falls; his grandchildren, Ryan and Justin Vaughn, B.J. and Zachary Bolton, Nicole and Shannon Vaughn; and his great granddaughter, Violet Clunis.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m., on Sunday, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

The funeral service will follow the calling hours at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Burial will take place in the spring at Kingsbury Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.
