SOUTH GLENS FALLS- Douglas D’Addetta, 60, passed away after a short illness, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on March 11, 1958, in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Anthony and Alice (Metzner) D’Addetta.

At the age of 17, he joined the US Army and served as a medic.

He was very active in his church, leading Men’s Ministries, as well as the Royal Rangers. He was the Northeast Sectional Commander of the Royal Rangers. He loved to cook and prepared many meals at his church. He also spent many hours renovating at the Gospel Lighthouse Church.  He was dedicated to the Open-Door mission and had an unwavering love for God. He was always available for the men of the Men’s Ministries, no matter the time or place.  Douglas touched the lives of so many people and will not be forgotten. He was also an avid NY Yankees fan.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Kimberly D’Addetta of South Glens Falls; his children, Danielle D’Addetta of New York,  Douglas D’Addetta of New Jersey, Roxanne D’Addetta of Florida, Jade D’Addetta  Deany and her husband Taylor of Florida, Spencer D’Addetta of South Glens Falls; two grandchildren, Cambria D’Addetta, Paxton Deany; his brother, Anthony D’Addetta of New Jersey; his twin brother, Dennis and his wife, Jeanine of New Jersey; his sister, Joann Giarratania and her husband, Richard  of New Jersey; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also left behind his best friend and beloved bulldog, Luigi.

It was Doug’s wish that in death, he could help someone else live on, so he generously donated his organs to Donate Life.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Gospel Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Paul Mead officiating.

A gathering will immediately follow the service and folks are encouraged to bring a covered dish to pass.

Doug’s family gives special thanks to the Glens Falls Hospital and staff for their special care, and Pastor Paul Mead and Chuck Wright for being there, and to the so many others who helped at this difficult time.

HUDSON FALLS – Marion R. (Howard) Lemery,82, of McDowell Street, went to her eternal rest on Saturday, February 24, 2018.

Born on July 20, 1935 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Ethel D. (Griffin) Howard.

Marion graduated from Queensbury High School, and then received her Nursing degree from Putnam Hospital School of Nursing in Bennington, VT.

On July 26, 1969, in Glens Falls, Marion married Raymond E. Lemery.  He passed away in 1993, after 24 years of marriage.

Marion was employed as a nurse in several area nursing homes.   At one time, she was a charge nurse at Pleasant Valley Infirmary in Argyle and then at Westmount Health Facility in Queensbury, where she retired in 1987. Following her retirement from nursing, Marion began her employment at Queensbury School District and retired from there in 1997.

The center of her life was her family.  Marion loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a fabulous knitter and created many beautiful gifts for her family.   Marion also kept busy doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles.   She was an avid John Wayne fan and would often say, “He could eat crackers in my bed, anytime.”

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Walter Howard, William Howard, Jr. and Clifton Howard; four sisters, Eilleen Lansing, Jessie Benson, Lorraine Saville and Jean Bohlman.

Survivors include her children, Keith Lemery and his wife, Kristina of Hudson Falls, Kimberly Rivers and her husband, Norman, of Hudson Falls and Julie Miller and her husband, George, of Glens Falls; her sister, Florence Phillips of Willsboro; her grandchildren, Lukas Lemery, Ava Lemery, Chelsea Rivers, Valarie Miller, Joy Meyer and John Miller; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Kingsbury Volunteer Hose Company, 3715 Burgoyne Avenue in Kingsbury.

HUDSON FALLS- Helen Caprood, age 98 years, of Hudson Falls, died on February 14, 2018, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on May 29, 1919, Helen was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Norton) O’Keefe.

She became engaged to William (Al) Caprood prior to his four years of service with the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater. Upon Al’s return home from the war, they married on November 17, 1945.  Together they lived the majority of their happy life in the home they built on East Labarge Street in Hudson Falls.

Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband, Al, her sister, Nancy and her daughter-in-law, Cheryl.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy of Utah; her son, Bill, who has been her loving caretaker; and his significant other, Jan Severance; her two grandsons, whom she cherished, Jeff of Fort Edward and Bill, and his significant other, Janet Fish of Hudson Falls; and her three great granddaughters, Alivia, Aberdeen and Meela.

Among her many interests, Helen was an avid reader, very proud of her Irish heritage, an advocate of the simple things in life, an interested listener, and an engaging storyteller.

Helen never wanted anything, but always gave everything. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

Her family would like to recognize and thank her caregivers, especially Donna, whose attentiveness and loving care over the years gave Helen such rich quality of life. Also special thanks to her other wonderful sitters, Debbie, Ann, JoAnn, Renee and Donna for the many hours of care devoted to Helen’s wellbeing.

The family would also like to thank the providers, staff and care management team of T2 Oncology Unit, and special recognition to Dr. William Tedesco for his compassion and understanding.

Funeral services are private, at the convenience of the family.
