HUDSON FALLS – Albert “Al” Charles Huguley, Sr., 94, of Hudson Falls, went into the arms of the Lord, on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the Glens Falls Hospital.
Born on January 25, 1924, in Columbus, Georgia, he was the son of the late John and Josephine (Millette) Huguley.
Al proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge. Shortly after his discharge from the service, he married the love of his life. On August 18, 1945, Al married Eleanor Marie Smith at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls. Eleanor passed away on November 11, 2017, after 72 years of marriage.
For his entire life, Al was in the roofing business and also worked as a Steeple Jack, restoring several church steeples. His business began as General Roofing and when his son, Al ”Sonny” joined him, it became known as Al Huguley and Son.
Al was a very hard worker throughout his life and he passed on his experience and skills to many people in the business.
He enjoyed woodworking and creating yard crafts, such as birdhouses and feeders. Al loved tending to his flowers and vegetable garden. He was an avid outdoorsman, who spent many hours hunting and fishing in the Adirondacks.
In addition to his parents and wife, Al was predeceased by his sisters, Evelyn Scarincio, Audrey Jerome and Ruth Ballestero and his brother, Art Huguley.
Survivors include his children, Albert C. Huguley, Jr. and his fiancée, Barbara Sheehan of Hudson Falls and Theresa M. St. John and her husband, Philip of South Glens Falls; his grandchildren, Albert C. Huguley, III and his wife, Candy of Hudson Falls, Michael Huguley and his wife, Linda of Glens Falls, Susan Lee Keith and her husband, Terry of Fort Ann and Jason St. John and his wife, Faith of Argyle; several great grandchildren; his sisters in law, Peggy Waite and Bev Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
All other services will be private.
Al will be laid to rest next to his wife, Eleanor at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the emergency room, Tower 6 and Tower 3 at the Glens Falls Hospital for the excellent care and compassion given to Albert.
