James Stanley Winters

GANSEVOORT – James Stanley Winters, 51 of Gansevoort passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday morning, August 24, 2023.

Born on October 4, 1971 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Nancy (Goldie) Winters and the late Michael Winters, Sr. James grew up in Hudson Falls and was a 1993 graduate of Hudson Falls High School. Shortly after that, he and his family moved to Lisbon, NY until 3 years ago when he returned to the area.

He loved pizza and, while in Hudson Falls, he worked at the Pizza Hut there. He was a participant in the Special Olympics where he was awarded a Gold Medal and Bronze Medal in swimming which he was very proud of. James’ family called him “Jimmy-Doo” and he enjoyed playing cards and loved Elvis Presley. He enjoyed having get togethers at his Aunt Shirley’s house and was good at making friends, everyone that knew him loved him.

James is survived by his mother, Nancy Winters of Lisbon; a sister, Carolyn Winters also of Lisbon; his brother, Michael Winters, Jr. (Renea) of Gansevoort; nieces, Alexandra (Phil), Danielle (Morgan), and Joanna; and a nephew, Quinton.

Services are private at the convenience of the family.
