FORT EDWARD – Lucy Mead, 67 of Fort Edward, passed away after a long illness on Tuesday evening, October 11, 2022 at home, surrounded by her family.
Lucy was born April 21, 1955 in Glens Falls, the daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret (DeLaire) McIntosh. She was a graduate of Queensbury High School and worked for many years at the Price Chopper store in Queensbury in the Bakery, retiring in 2002.
On August 2, 1980, she married the love of her life, Stephen Mead, at The Church of God on Staple Street in Glens Falls. They enjoyed 42 years of marriage together. Lucy and Stephen were devoted members of The Church of God and they enjoyed spending Sundays there together. She enjoyed cross stitching and made many crafts for family and friends over the years. Lucy loved to bake and cook and liked camping in the outdoors. She hardly missed any of the local area events such as Sandy Hill Days, the Adirondack Balloon Festival and the Fireworks by the river in Fort Edward just to name a few.
In addition to her parents, Lucy is predeceased by a brother, Jim McIntosh and a sister, Betty Shortsleeves.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Stephen Mead of Fort Edward; her son, Matthew Mead and his wife, Angela of Poultney, VT; her cherished grandchildren, Rain, Jaxon, and Maverick Mead; her brothers, John and Bruce McIntosh; a sister, Mary McIntosh; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Michele Mead; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday, October 17, 2022 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 pm at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Lucy ,,Ed and I have known you most of our lives,we have gathered in many birthdays and party’s on both your family and ours ,,Ed has been there for Steve and you and Matthew and family for a helping hand and will always be there for him ..our years at Price Chopper Glen St and your house too .
