FORT EDWARD – Heaven has gained an angel, Scott Skellie, 53, on Sunday, May 9, 2021, at Slate Valley Center in Granville.
Born March 4, 1968 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Edward Skellie, Sr., and Donna (Way) Skellie.
Scott attended South Glens Falls High School.
He had various jobs throughout his life. Scott worked for Gambles Bakery for many years, often sharing baked goods with his family. He enjoyed his work as a landscaper, and also worked for North Country Janitorial and Irving Tissue.
Scott loved fishing throughout the Adirondacks, riding his bike on the Feeder Canal Trails, and autobody repair. He will be remembered for his can-do attitude and hard-working disposition. Scott could be found making general repairs to the apartments he lived in, being a great handy man, and was proud of the work he accomplished. Most of all, Scott loved his children. He will be missed by his pets, which he loved deeply.
Besides his parents, Scott was predeceased his stepfather, Tom Grover; his brother, Ed Skellie, Jr. and his sister, Connie Hafner.
Survivors include his long time companion , Meredith Schultz; his children, Preston Skellie (Diamond Burt), Derek Skellie, Clairrissa Skellie (Adam Foster), their mother, Beth (Lee) Galton, and Brian Winchell (Heather); his grandchildren, Zaiden Skellie, James and Jackson Desousa and one grandchild on the way; his sibling, Michael (Christine) Skellie; his brother in law, Steven Hafner; his sister in law, Melinda Skellie; his nieces and nephews, Lisa McIntosh (Jr.) and their children, Jon Waters (Sarah) and their children, Ken Mallory (Jenna) and their children, Gabrielle Skellie (Dante) and Lacy Skellie and her children.
Graveside service will be held Monday, at 10 a.m., at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
Memorial donations in memory of Scott may be made to the C.R. Wood Cancer Center, 100 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
