QUEENSBURY – Scott MacKenzie Fraser, 66, died on February 3, 2020 in Argyle, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late James and Claire (Carleton) Fraser. Raised in Loudonville, he attended North Colonie Schools and later graduated from New England College, in Henniker, NH.
As a young teenager, Scott began his lifelong path of volunteer service to others which influenced his subsequent long career as counselor and caregiver to people with disabilities. Scott was well known in the volunteer fireman community, having proudly served the North Queensbury Volunteer Fire Co for nearly 40 years, eventually as financial secretary and as an officer in the Fire Police.
Scott is survived by long-time partner and love of his life, Christine M. Burke of Queensbury; his sister, Judith C. Fraser; his brothers, Bruce C., Andrew M., Peter C. and James M., Jr and their wives; his nieces, Mackenzie, Rory, Heather, Brittany and Meredith; his nephews, Justin, Heath, Dean, James III, Luke and Benjamin; his grandnephew, Hudson; several cousins and countless friends. Scott enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews participate in their respective events and was very proud to be their “Uncle Scott”. Scott’s dedication to family and to others is well known and recognized.
A memorial service for Scott M. Fraser will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 8, at the Harrisena Community Church, 1616 Ridge Road, Queensbury.
Following the memorial service, a reception will be held at the North Queensbury Volunteer Fire Co., 2663 Route 9L, in Queensbury, to share stories and celebrate.
To acknowledge his giving spirit, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the NQVFC, PO Box 61, Cleverdale, NY 12820 or to the Harrisena Community Church, 1616 Ridge Rd., Queensbury, NY 12804.
Arrangements are under the direction of Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

Thanks so much Patty and George.
Scott was a wonderful friend to my husband Bob and my parents. I will never forget the kindnesses he did for us on many occasions when the power went out and oxygen was so important for my dad, Scott would be there all hours of the day and night to check on the generator. His gentle soul and friendship will be missed.
Thanks Mary Alice-
It’s so nice to hear how Scott touched others lives,
Even though I didn’t see Scott often, I was amazed last year (2019) when he stopped his car and said hello to me while I was out walking. I’ll be praying for your family during this difficult time.
Carolyn and Tom Clary sends our sympathies to Scott’s family. He visited our pharmacy loyally for many years. He was a joy to talk with as we told his mother and father. Sad to see him go at such a youg age.

I first met Scott during my time with NQEMS. I admired his volunteerism, his dedication to his community, his friendships and humor. More recently, and by chance, I was able to reconnect with Scott in Argyle. I looked forward to his stories about the firehouse, and his love for his family. You will be missed my friend.

To all of the Fraser family, I am saddened to learn of Scott’s death. I remember well when your clan joined the Summers at Echo Bay … mini-bikes & all! Scott & I crossed paths through the years, either at Stewart’s or professionally as he supported individuals with his honesty, kindness and forgiving humor. He left our world a better place… though now a bit emptier. Please accept my family’s condolences.
Rest In Peace, Scott.
With our heartfelt and deepest sympathy to Christine and to all the Fraser
family.
