Albert “John” Hunt

FORT EDWARD – Albert “John” Hunt, 74, of Spruce Street, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 25, 2016, at Glens Falls Hospital. 

Born on July 23, 1941 in Bennington, VT, he was the son of the late Samuel and Eva (McMurray) Hunt.

After attending high school, John enlisted in the United States Army as an armored truck vehicle mechanic, during the Korean War.  John was very proud to have served his country for six years.

He worked for Decora in Fort Edward for 15 years and then began his construction career, working at various companies in the area.

John was a “jack of all trades” and “master if none”.  He was a hard worker and could build or fix anything.  He constructed homes in the area and fixed many cars for his family and friends.   John enjoyed camping with his family.   He also was known as a jokester and could beat just about anyone in pool.     John was a straight shooter who told it like it was and never held back.  Most importantly, John loved his family and his dog, “Lady”.  He could be caught feeding his dog home cooked meals while he ate a cup of soup.

Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his siblings, Ruth, Pauline, Rita, Clark, Jr., and his step-daughter, Barbie.

Survivors include his four loving children, John Hunt and his companion, Tammy Ingalls of Schuylerville, Sheryl Havens and her companion, Steve Smith of Fort Edward, Tina Patrick and her husband, Jerry of Cossayuna, Grace Saville and her husband, Peter of Fort Ann; John’s companion of 35 years, Barbara Harrington of Fort Edward; the mother of his children, Shirley Hunt of Fort Edward; his step sons, Kevin Dickinson of Fort Edward and Gary Harrington of Fort Edward; his seven grandchildren, John Hunt, Jr. of Schuylerville, Lawrence Havens of Fort Edward, Amanda Havens of Madison, Wisconsin, Megan Patrick of Salem, Nicole Patrick of Cossayuna, Hunter Saville of Fort Ann, Olivia Saville of Fort Ann; three great grandchildren, Owen, Orion and Jaxson; his brother, Arthur Hunt of White Creek; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls. 

The Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 pm., on Thursday, following the calling hours, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
