Daniel M. Sipowicz

ARGYLE – Daniel M. Sipowicz, 67, of Argyle, passed away abruptly at his home on 710 State Route 197, on January 15, 2025, ending an eight-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.

Born on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 1957, he was the son of the late Thaddeus Sipowicz and Jean (Bullock) Sipowicz.

Dan graduated from Hudson Falls High School and BOCES where he learned to cook. Immediately following high school, he enlisted in the Unites States Navy where he was a cook, on the USS Dale (CG 19) in the Mediterranean.

Frisbee in San Marco Square, “missing the shore leave boat and bull fights in Spain” were some of Dan’s favorite stories he loved to tell.

Following his honorable discharge, Dan worked in many trades. He was a cook at the Woodshed, James River Papermill, S & S Construction, Meads Nursery, owning a bread route in Vermont, Universal Blastco, and Newport News Shipbuilding in Saratoga from which he retired in 2023.

Dan had a passion for food, travel, and having a good time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Carolyn (Sleight), and his brothers-in-law, Richard Murray, and J. David Rothermel.

Dan is survived by his loving wife Susan (Siaulnski) Sipowicz, his stepdaughters, Leslie Prevost (Steve Sexton) and Christina (Heinz) Pichler; his grandchildren, Alee (Coby) Woodcock, Derick (Shelby Suddard) Prevost, Zack (Carlea) Prevost, Lily Prevost, Cyrus Pichler and Rome Pichler; his great grandchildren, Makayla Prevost, Brooklyn Prevost, and two more on the way.

He is also survived by siblings, Debbie (Mike) Granger, Diane Murray, Denise Rothermel, Dennis (Denise Coe) Sipowicz, David (Steph Rathbun) Bullock, and Deidre Bullock; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, with whom he celebrated “Church”. You know who you are…

Per Dans request, there will not be any calling hours.

A Committal Service will take place on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 11:30 am at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road in Schuylerville.

All are welcome to join Dan’s family immediately following the service for a celebration of his life at the Hudson Falls American Legion Post #574 (where Dan was a proud member), on Pearl Street in Hudson Falls.

Let the stories fly and his soul be free.

Rest in peace Buster.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dan’s name, to the Argyle Emergency Squad, 15 Sheridan St., Argyle, NY 12809 and/or any Veterans support organizations or charity of one’s choice.
