Claire Binetti Conlee

HUDSON FALLS – Claire Binetti Conlee, daughter of Felicetta and Martino Binetti, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025.  She was born on December 23, 1931.  She is preceded in death by her brothers Dominic and Vito “Tooter” Binetti, and her best friends, sister-in-law Maxine Binetti, and Betty Anderson

She is survived by her children, James Conlee (Gail Bauer), Kathleen Conlee (Jay Tegeder), Ann Sutliff, Mary Joan “Bea” Conlee (Joanne Schrader); granddaughter Lauren Sutliff (Nick McFeeters); and great grandson Jack McFeeters; and many special nieces and nephews.

Claire was very proud of her Italian heritage and loved to relate stories of growing up in Fenimore. Her apartment overlooking the Hudson River was her happy place. She often remarked: I can see the river and Fenimore from here.  She raised her family in Hudson Falls and was a devoted member of St. Mary’s/St Paul’s Parish.  Christmas Mass at the beautifully decorated church was a favorite memory.

Claire had a big personality and was never afraid to speak her mind.  But her special gift was how she connected with and supported her friends – often with her very dry sense of humor – and she never forgot to recognize a birthday or important date.

She worked for many years as a secretary for General Electric.  After retirement, she traveled to visit family and friends in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Virginia.  A special memory was her trip to Las Vegas; she loved playing Black Jack and cards.

There were so many people in Claire’s life, too many to name, but her Binetti nieces and nephews and niece Lynn Ellmers, all held a special place in her heart, along with friends Laurie and Mike Leonbruno.

Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, January 17, 2025 at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Catholic Church, on the park in Hudson Falls.

Rite of committal will take place in the spring in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.

The family would like to thank Lynn Ellmers and Mary Edgerly for continued help and support during the later years of Claire’s life.  In addition, we would like to thank the staff at Wesley Care Center for the compassionate care received.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Red Cross, 333 Glen Street, Suite 104, Glens Falls, NY 12801 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
