HUDSON FALLS – Alice W. (Silva) Bentley, 94, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the Haynes House of Hope in Granville, following a short illness.
Born May 28, 1930, in Boston Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ada (Crosby) Silva.
Alice grew up in the Albany area and attended the Hackett School of Albany. She spent many years working for the New York State Education Department. Alice retired after dedicating thirty years to NYS. In 2016, Alice moved to Hudson Falls to be closer to her family.
She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and word searches. She loved to read and was a dedicated reader of James Patterson novels. Alice also loved watching western movies, especially if the main actor was John Wayne. She adored “The Duke”. Alice found great comfort in spending time at home caring for her cats. She never met a stray cat she didn’t adopt. Alice also cherished the times she was able to spend with her family.
In addition to her parents, Alice is predeceased by her sister Irene Silva, her brothers, Harry Silva and Frankie Silva, and her granddaughter, Christine Bentley.
Survivors include her loving son, Elwin “Ed” (Kathy) Bentley, her loving grandson, Scott (Jennifer) Bentley, and her great grandsons Scottie (Samantha), Aiden, and Brody Bentley.
Alice’s family would like to thank the nurses of High Peaks Hospice and the staff at the Haynes House of Hope.
At Alice’s request, there will be no calling hours.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the Bentley family.
