HUDSON FALLS – Wilbur Karl Vaughn, 78, formerly of John Street, passed away peacefully, on Monday, April 15, 2013, at the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in Fort Edward.
Born on January 8, 1935, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Karl and Mildred (Tyler) Vaughn.
Wilbur was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School. He was previously married to the late Ruth S. Taylor, the mother of their children.
Wilbur worked for Sandy Hill Corporation in Hudson Falls, as a machinist, for several years.
He was proud to serve as a volunteer fireman for the Charles R. Paris Hose Company in Hudson Falls.
Wilbur enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting and fishing with his friends. He also loved taking summer camping trips to Maine with his family and clambakes by the pool.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Eleanor Vaughn, his grandson, Michael Vaughn, his nephew Stewart Vaughn and his niece, Valerie Vaughn.
He is survived by his three children, James Vaughn, Michael Vaughn, both of Hudson Falls and Cathy Parry of Queensbury; his brother, Richard Vaughn and his wife, Carolyn; his four grandchildren, Taylor Parry, Sydney Parry, Jesse Vaughn and Jennifer Vaughn; and his four nephews, Steven Vaughn, Tom Matteson, Tony Matteson and Tim Matteson.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday, April 18, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Friday, at the funeral home, with the Reverend Lamont Robinson, pastor of the Harrisena Community Church in Queensbury, officiating.
Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

I have many fond memories of Wilbur back in the Paris Hose days. We had a lot of fun and he was a dedicated member of the fire department.
