GLENS FALLS – Thomas G. “Silas” Field, 74, of Glens Falls, passed away, on Thursday, May 21, 2015, surrounded by his loving family, after battling a long illness.
Born on November 16, 1940, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late George and Geraldine “Pesty” (Rabine) Field.
On June 14, 1975, he married Roberta Shields in Hudson Falls.
Tom worked for many years, until his retirement for Scott Paper, under various company names, including Irving Tissue.
In his younger years, he enjoyed playing golf. He was an avid sports fan, he especially liked the Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Orioles and NASCAR, #14 Tony Stewart.
Tom loved animals, especially cats. He will be remembered for having a big heart and would do anything for anything for his family. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandkids.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Kimberly Field and his sister, Darlene Field.
Tom is survived by his wife of 39 years, Roberta Field of Glens Falls; his two daughters, Renee Field of Glens Falls and Lisa Stetson and her husband Eric of Glens Falls; his three grandsons, Eric, Alex and Kyle Stetson; his brother, David Field and his wife, Irene of Fort Edward; his sisters, Diane Ellsworth and her husband, Gary of Florida, Patty Ann Field of Corinth and Beth Ann Ciccone and her husband, Lot of Fort Ann; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends are welcome to Tom’s graveside services 12 noon, on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward .
