HUDSON FALLS – Susanne E. (Cutler) Nassivera, 81, of William Street in Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at her home.
Born on April 22, 1935, in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Harriet (Hill) Cutler.
Susanne was the salutatorian of the Fort Edward High School, class of 1953. On September 2, 1956, she was united in marriage to John Nassivera, at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.
Susanne worked for Continental Insurance in Glens Falls, Fannie Farmers at Aviation Mall, and she was the owner and operator of Nassivera’s Inn in Hudson Falls.
She ran the Hudson Falls Little League Ladies Auxiliary. Susanne always put others before herself. She had a passion for giving. Christmas was her favorite time of year. This year alone, she gave 82 gifts, each bought for a specific person in her life, and each gift had a special meaning from her. Susanne was an avid reader and enjoyed all kinds of different books. She was also a fantastic storyteller and the family historian, sharing her vast knowledge. Susanne loved passing along stories of her past, and keeping up on and celebrating the achievements and benchmarks of her family and friends. Susanne was the “original Facebook.” She was known as a gentle soul and always thought of others. Susanne would open her home to take in or care for others in their times of need.
In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her sister, Patricia Ryan and her husband, Edward; her brother, Warren Cutler; and her sister-in-law, Ann Nassivera.
Survivors include her loving husband of 60 wonderful years, John Nassivera; her children, John (Cathy) Nassivera, Cyndi (James) Reynolds, Thomas (Betty) Nassivera, Michael (Robin) Nassivera, Francis (Karen) Nassivera, Anthony Nassivera, Christina (Sean) Bjork and Helen (Mike) Lowey; her grandchildren, John Nassivera, Cassie (Brendon) Hackett, Alison (Christopher) Martel, Pamela Cordes, Patrick Cordes, Chelsea Cordes, Craig Herald, Lucia (Jeff) Whitehouse, Luke Herald, Isabella Nassivera, Antonio Nassivera, Andrea (Josh) Gifford, Gina Nassivera, Michael Nassivera, Franky Nassivera, Dominic Nassivera, Olivia Nassivera, Massimo Nassivera, Amelie Nassivera, Robert Bjork, Christian Bjork, Jacob Lowey, and Ethan Lowey; her great grandchildren, Aaron Gifford, Kaylee Herald, Ellee Herald, Gavin Whitehouse and Samuel Martel; her sister-in-law, Caroline Cutler; her brother-in-law, Morris Nassivera; and numerous nieces and nephews, which includes her special niece, Rhonda DeMarsh.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. located at 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls, and with the Reverend Thomas Babiuch, officiating.
The Rite of Committal will take place in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
