Silas E. Stockman

StockmanGLENS FALLS – Silas E. Stockman, 97, of Glens Falls peacefully reunited with his wife in Heaven on January 30, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born August 17, 1918, in Rouses Point, he was the son of the late Elmer and Agnes Stockman.

In December of 1940, Silas married the love of his life, Edith (Willis), in Saratoga. They were married for 73 years.

Silas served in the Army as a Corporal during World War II in Italy and Germany.

The Stockman’s resided in Florida for 16 years. They decided to move back to the area to be closer to family.

Silas was a very handy, self­employed carpenter, who built homes by hand for members of his own family as well as local families. He built his first car, a Model­T, from parts. He loved to camp with his family and did so for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great­grandchildren at many family parties, of which, he reminisced right up until his death.

Besides his parents, Silas was predeceased by his two brothers, Gerald Stockman and Willard Stockman.

He was survived by his two sons, Gerald “Jerry” Stockman Sr. and his wife Janet of Fort Ann,

John Stockman and his wife, Brenda of Plattsburgh; a very special granddaughter, Shirley Padasak and her husband, Steve, Gerald Stockman Jr. and his wife, Mindy, David Stockman and his wife, Ronda, Paul Stockman and his wife, Jen, Angie Stockman, Emily Stockman­Carr and her husband, Nick, Claire Stockman and her fiance, Justin; several great­grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday from 10 to 11 A.M. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will follow the calling hour at 11 A.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury, where Silas will be laid to rest next to his wife.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Nursing Staff of Tower 3 at Glens Falls Hospital for their wonderful care for Silas and for treating his family as their own.

Edith W. Stockman

StockmanGLENS FALLS – Edith W. Stockman, 93, of Glens Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born October 15, 1920, in Kingsbury, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Susan(Hammond) Willis.

In December of 1940, Edith married Silas Stockman in Saratoga.

The Stockman’s resided in Florida for 16 years.

Edith was a member of the Zion Episcopal Church in Hudson Falls.  She was a wonderful lady and a great mother, who enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Edith liked watching WWE on Friday night and playing Bingo.

Besides her parents, Edith is predeceased by her brother Charles Willis, and her sister, Lillian Willis.

Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Silas Stockman of Glens Falls; her sons, Gerald  ”Jerry” Stockman, Sr. and his wife, Janet of Fort Ann, John Stockman and his wife, Brenda of Plattsburgh; her grandchildren, Shirley Padasak and her husband, Steve, Gerald Stockman, Jr. and his wife, Mindy, David Stockman and his wife, Ronda, Paul Stockman and his wife, Jen, Angie Stockman, Emily Stockman-Carr and her husband, Nick, Claire Stockman; several great grandchildren; her sister, Ruth Baker and her husband, Don of Glens Falls; and several nieces nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends may call Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m., at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury.
