GALWAY – Shirley I. Kaiser, 90 , passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013, at the home of her daughter, Bonnie Trevett, surrounded by her family.
She was born Shirley Warner in Amsterdam, New York on April 6, 1923. She graduated from Amsterdam High School with honors and attended the Mildred Ellie Business School.
Shirley began working in the St. Mary’s Hospital laboratory as a phlebotomist, and also worked in the medical records departments of the Nathan Littaur Hospital in Gloversville and Johnstown Hospital. At the time of her retirement she was the Patient Care Coordinator for Johnstown Hospital.
She enjoyed 61 years of marriage to the love of her life, Spencer Kaiser, who predeceased her in 2005. They spent many happy years together, hiking, fishing, camping, dancing, and showing their children how to live and love.
Shirley was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church in Gloversville. She had many hobbies and enjoyed knitting items for her family. She was an accomplished musician who played the piano and had a lovely singing voice. She taught piano to some of her children and grandchildren. She was known for her computer and technology skills, keeping in touch with many people through Facebook.
Besides her husband, Spencer Kaiser, Shirley was predeceased by a grandson, James Trevett, in 1986.
She is survived by her three daughters; Bonnie (David) Trevett of Hudson Falls, Judy (Rick) Vaughan of Ithaca, and Marcie (Tom) Page of Amsterdam; 15 grandchildren, Kristine (Chris) Trevett-Jones, Renee (Terence) Murphy, Marie (Mike) Mercure, Rebekah (Chad) LaBombarde, Kyle (Kelsi) Trevett, Jacob (Tatianna) Eletto, Colin (Anthia) Eletto, Audra Eletto, Kara Eletto, Nate (Ashley) Page, Carly Page, Emily Page, Brian Vaughan, and Kevin Vaughan; as well as 12 great grandchildren.
She will be missed for her determined spirit and her zest for life.
Family and friends may call 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. December 4th , at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc, 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls.
Funeral services will follow calling hours at 1 p.m., at the funeral home.
Burial will be Hagaman Mills Cemetery in Hagaman, New York.
