QUEENSBURY – Shirley C. Baker, of The Stanton Nursing Home, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014, at the Glens Falls Hospital.
Born June 11, 1923, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Catherine (Martin) Winchell.
Shirley worked for many years as a department manager at Montgomery Ward’s in Queensbury. She later worked at CL + J, formerly in Queensbury.
She was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls.
Shirley loved knitting, crocheting, crafts, and bingo at the Stanton. She was very caring and was always helping anyone with anything, even if she was sick.
Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Robert Baker, her brothers, Donald Winchell, Kenneth Winchell, and her sister in law, Tina Winchell.
Survivors include her son, Robert Baker and Carol Baker Bronson; her grandsons, Marty Baker and his girlfriend Mari, Randy Baker; her granddaughter, Kimberly Baker; many great-grandchildren; her sister, Ada Crete and her husband, Roland; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as her good friends, Celina and Ron Butler, and Shelly and Joe, Kim, Elaine and Bill; and many other good friends.
There will be no calling hours.
Graveside services will be held at a time to be announced at Southside Cemetery in the town of Moreau.
