John J. Rock

HUDSON FALLS – John J. Rock, 72, went into the arms of the Lord on February 14, 2021, at Washington Center, due to a long battle with COPD, diabetes and kidney failure.

Born July 29, 1948 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Roger and Dorothy Rock of Queensbury.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam War.

John enjoyed reading about history, going to fairs and watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball.  He worked at Queensbury and exit 18 McDonalds doing maintenance for many years. 

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert Rock; his mother in law, Katherine Fahlmann; his grandson, Liam Dano and his great grandson, Noah Millington.

He will be missed dearly by his wife of 21 years, Johann Rock of Hudson Falls; his children, Stacey Farrington of Plattsburgh, Rebecca Durham of Hudson Falls and Jeremy Rock of Hudson Falls; his stepdaughter, Christine Dano of Rome; his stepson, David Graves of Cohoes; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his brother, Roger Rock (Irene) of Hudson Falls; his sister, Carol Brown of Glens Falls, along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours.

Burial will take place in the spring, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Ronald P. Rock, Sr.

Rock, RonHUDSON FALLS – Ronald P. Rock, Sr., 65, passed away at his home in Hudson Falls, on Saturday, June 11, 2016.

Ron was born on August 24, 1950, in Glens Falls to the late Ross and Sophia (Flores)Rock.

On July 1, 1969, Ron was joined in marriage to Barbara Fuller at St. Mary’s Church in Ticonderoga, NY.

He loved hunting, fishing, and camping and worked at various place throughout his life including: The Container Corporation, Montgomery Wards, Adirondack Fish Company, Scott Paper, Encore, and the BioTech Mill in Salem.

Ron is predeceased by his father Ross Rock Sr., His mother, Sophia (Flores) Rock; his brothers, John Rock and Ross Rock Jr., his sisters Sylvia Breton and Donna Rock Maclemore, and also Baby Rock whom passed at the time of birth.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years Barbara Rock of Hudson Falls; his daughter Tammy Yell and her companion, Jerry Mattison of Hebron, along with their daughter Zoey Flint; his son Ronald P. Rock Jr. and his wife, Amy of Beverly Hills, FL.; his Grandchildren: Ronald P. Rock III and his wife, Tori of Texas, Amanda Renaud and Ralph King along with their children: Daygon King, Payton King, Brady King, and Sami Jo King; Micheal Yell and his son, Noah Yell; and Tyler Yell; his two brothers, Lloyd Rock and his wife, Ann of Glens Falls, William Rock and his wife, Judie of Hudson Falls; along with several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Church on Broadway in Fort Edward with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor officiating.

The Rite of Committal will take place at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Ross C. “Sonny” Rock, Jr.

RockHUDSON FALLS – Ross C. “Sonny” Rock, Jr., 72, of May Street, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at his home, following a long illness.

Born May 18, 1943 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Ross and Sophia (Flores) Rock, Sr..

Sonny was very proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army.  To honor other veterans, Sonny would buy small flags to place on their graves at the Union Cemetery.

For over 20 years, he was employed as a mechanic at Carswells Trucks and then for over ten years, until his retirement, at Scott Paper Company in Fort Edward.

Sonny was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward.  In his younger years, he loved building and then racing his hot rods at South Glens Falls Dragway.   Sonny also enjoyed deer hunting and fishing in the Adirondacks.

He was always there to help those in need.  Sonny would go hungry to feed those without.  He will be greatly missed by his family and his friends

Besides his parents, Sonny was predeceased by his brother, John Rock and his sisters, Donna Rock McLemore and Sylvia Rock Breton.

Survivors include his brothers, Lloyd Rock and his wife, Ann of Queensbury, Ronald Rock and his wife, Barbara of Hudson Falls and William Rock and his wife, Judith of Hudson Falls; David Pearce, whom he thought of as a son: and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday, from 4 to 6 p.m.  at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph’s Church in the town of Fort Edward.

The Rite of Committal will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward, with full military honors provided by Hudson Falls American Legion, post 574..

Sonny’s family wishes to thank Nancy Wever, David Pearce and Christopher Guy for the wonderful care and friendship given to Sonny during his illness.   They also thank Community Hospice, especially nurses, Kelly, Jen and Robin for all the care and advise given to Sonny and his family.

Robert A. “Bob” Rock, Sr.

RockQUEENSBURY – Robert A. “Bob” Rock, Sr., 63, of Sugarbush Road, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at his home.

Born on July 25, 1949, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Dorothy (Johnson) Rock and the late Roger A. Rock.

Bob was formerly married to the mother of his children, Gail Brown.  Bob was a roller-skating fanatic, he lived on his skates.  He also enjoyed bowling with family and friends.  At the end of his life, Bob was a caregiver. He loved this part of his career, because he could give back by helping others.  In his younger years, he enjoyed camping in the Adirondacks and deer hunting with his friends.  Bob loved traveling with his mother, Dorothy throughout the country; they would just get in the car and go.  Most of all, Bob loved the Lord.  He was a member of the Calvary’s Family Life Center.  Bob loved attending church and listening to Christian music, especially Randy Travis and 4 Ever 1 Christian Music Group.

He will be remembered for being a kind and caring man, with a big heart.  He will be missed by everyone that he touched.

Bob is survived by his son, Robert A. Rock, Jr. and his wife, Kim of Apex, NC; his daughter, Kristi Rock of Rotterdam; his mother, Dorothy Rock of Queensbury; his siblings, Roger T. Rock and his wife, Irene of Hudson Falls, John J. Rock and his wife, Johann of Hudson Falls and Carol Brown of Glens Falls; four grandchildren, Sara Rock, Tiaja Harris, Jahlil Harris and Danel Harris; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, from 11 to 1 p.m. at the Calvary’s Family Life Center, 100 Sherman Ave in Glens Falls.

Funeral services will follow at 1 pm at the church, with Pastor Paul Keehr, officiating.

Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
