GLENS FALLS – Richard “Dick” J. Camfield,66, of Glens Falls, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 15, 2016, with his family by his side.
Born April 11, 1949 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Charles and Doris (LaVoy) Camfield.
Richard attended St. Mary’s Academy and was a class of 1968 Glens Falls High School graduate. After high school, he attended BOCES where he obtained certification for sheet metal fabrication.
On June 29, 1981, he married Gail Marie Young in Glens Falls. They were married for 33 wonderful years until she passed away November 20, 2014.
Richard worked for Ames Goldsmith in Glens Falls, North East Heating Supply in Glens Falls and also Genesee Refrigeration.
He was a simple man but a hard worker and great provider who always put his family first. Richard was wonderful caring father and grandfather who loved spending time with his daughter and grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, Richard was predeceased by his grandmother, Ruby Morris, his aunt, who was like a second mother, Helene Sullivan Dever, and his brothers in law, Michael, James and Sam Young.
Survivors include his daughter, Heather Harrington and her husband, Scott of Glens Falls; his grandchildren, Brett Harrington and Tess Harrington; his sister, Katherine Rielly and her husband, Mike of NJ; his brother, Peter Camfield and his wife, Ellen of Rochester; his cousins, which he shared a home with growing up, Sarah Basta and her late husband, John, Joe Sulllivan and his wife, Nancy, Jerry Sullivan and John “Jack” Sullivan; his sisters in law, Connie Crosier of Whitehall, Maureen Young of Whitehall and Carol Young, also of Whitehall; his brother in law, Tim Young and his wife, Cathy of PA; his aunt, Marge Campfield; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Monday, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, at St. Michael’s Church in South Glens Falls, with Rev. Tony Childs, pastor, officiating.
The Rite of Committal will be in the spring at Glens Falls Cemetery on Bay Street in the City of Glens Falls.
Richards family would like to thank Patty and Phil from High Peaks Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., for their care and support given to Richard and his family.
