GLENS FALLS – Jeffrey G. Park, 69, of Henry Street, moved on to his new journey, on Friday, September 23, 2016, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on March 29, 1947 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late James and Ann (Jackowski) Park.
Jeff was a graduate of South Glens Falls High School and continued his education at Adirondack Community College, receiving his Associates in Criminal Justice Degree.
Jeff was proud to be the first fourth generation corrections officer in New York State. He served for 26 years as a corrections officer, until his retirement from Mt. McGregor Correctional Facility. After this retirement, he didn’t stay idle, Jeff worked at 17 jobs, from babysitting to landscaping.
After being together for eight years, on August 27, 1988, he married Joann Hammond, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.
In his early years, Jeff was a member of the Jury, where he acquired the name “Sneakers”. He was also a member of the Adirondack Riders. Jeff also served his community as a fireman at the South Glens Falls Volunteer Fire Department, where he was a Fire Police Captain. He also donated blood for many years. It was always important for Jeff to give back to his community.
Jeff loved to reel people in with his stories. At one time, he had the whole prison believing he won the Massachusetts’s Lottery. This story was just one of many, that Jeff got by his family and friends. He was an avid hockey fan, who was known for ringing his bell when the Adirondack team scored. Most of all, Jeff was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and soon to be a great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, James Park and his mother in law, Sharron Hammond.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joann Park of Glens Falls; his two children, Bryan Park and his wife, Kim of South Glens Falls and Cece O’Dell and her husband, Randy of Saratoga Springs; the mother of his children, Joan Baker of Argyle; nine grandchildren, Nathanial, Joshua, John, Sarah, Bryanna, Skyler, Ronen, Danielle and T.J.; his twin sister, Germaine Rocco and her husband, Patrick of Ohio; his father in law, Clifford Hammond of Fort Edward; his brothers and sisters in law, Mary Bentanzos of Glens Falls, Edward Hammond of Hudson Falls, David Hammond and his significant other, Ela of Glens Falls, John Hammond and his wife, Sandi of Queensbury, Catherine Hammond of Hudson Falls and Penny Kilmartin and her husband, Chris of Glens Falls; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his dog, Hollie and his cat, Mollie.
Please join the family to celebrate the life of Jeff on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Funeral services will follow the calling hours on Wednesday, at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
