HUDSON FALLS – Gary R. Northrup, 80, passed away with his sons present on the morning of December 25, 2018 in his home on Dean Road.
Born May 25, 1938 in Hudson Falls, Gary was the son of the late Calvin R. Northrup and Doris (Cutler) Northrup.
Gary grew up with his parents, many cousins, aunts and uncles on River Street in Hudson Falls. He moved to Lake George in his teens and attended Lake George High School. After high school he joined the US Navy and served for six years before being honorably discharged. Gary married Karen, the love of his life, in 1966. They were happily married for more than fifty years until her death in 2016.
Gary was an active member of the Hudson Falls First Presbyterian Church.
Gary liked good food, hunting, coffee, the theater, and going for rides with Karen. He also enjoyed making things and took pride in a job well done.
He is survived by his two sons, Greg Northrup and partner Michele Sherin Jordan of Greenwich, and Drew Northrup and wife Paula of Moreau; granddaughters Dylan Jakacki of Cambridge and Paige Posada of Moreau; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 Carleton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Plank, pastor of the Hudson Falls First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
