HUDSON FALLS – Shirley Corbin McLaughlin, 77, of East LaClaire Street, passed away peacefully, at her home, surrounded by her family, on Monday October 28, 2013.
Born on December 14, 1935, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late George and Marion Sanders of Fort Ann.
Shirley graduated from Hudson Falls School in 1953. She worked at Union Camp in Glens Falls for many years.
Shirley’s favorite past times were, going to the casinos and playing BINGO. She enjoyed crocheting for her family and spending winters in Florida, with her husband, for many years. Shirley and her husband had such a love for life, they were constantly traveling and going out to eat. They never went anywhere without their “Entertainment book.” They enjoyed entertaining at their home, playing cards and cooking out. They especially enjoyed Friday night happy hours with family and fellow teachers from Queensbury School.
For many years, Shirley was also active with the Marine Corps “Toys for Tots” in Hudson Falls, helping with the organization and distribution of Christmas gifts to local families with her cousin, Elaine Fiore.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of many years, James “Laddie” McLaughlin, her three brothers, Joe Sanders and George Sanders and Jerry Sanders.
Survivors are her children, Melanie (Corbin)Farrell and her husband, Greg of Fort Ann, Jack Corbin and his wife, Patti of Hudson Falls, Dale Corbin and his wife, Bobbi of Georgia, Jeff Corbin and his wife, Connie of South Glens Falls, Larry “Tubby” Corbin and his wife, Scarlett of Fort Ann, Lori McLaughlin of Hudson Falls and Michael McLaughlin and his wife, Andrea of Gloversville; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; her daughter in law, Karen McLaughlin; her brother, Bob Sanders of Wilton; and her sister, Liz Aubrey of Glens Falls.
Friends may call on Thursday, October 31, 2013, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Friday, at the funeral home, with the Reverend Flossie Bates, officiating.
Inurnment will be on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 11 am at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a special “thank you” to the staff of Interim Healthcare and High Peaks Hospice.
