Ella J. Maxwell

maxwellHUDSON FALLS – Ella J. Maxwell, 91, of the Boulevard, went to join the Lord on Friday, March 21, 2014, at the Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Facility in Glens Falls.

Born on July 23, 1922, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Emery and Julia (French) Cleavland.

On July 4, 1965, she married George Maxwell at the Malta Ridge Methodist Church.   He died on August 28, 1997.

Ella worked at the former Hudson Falls Health Center and the former American Locomotive Company.   She also was employed at the former Dell Studio and the former Kalamazoo Furnace Company, both in Glens Falls.   Ella was a nurses’ aide at the former Hudson Falls Nursing Home, the Wilton Developmental Center in Wilton, the Glens Falls Hospital and the Saratoga Hospital.

She was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Hudson Falls, where she was arlso a member of the Women’s Fellowship.

Ella was a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans Association and also belonged to the Friends Fellowship in Saratoga Springs.

Besides her husband, and parents, she is predeceased by a two sisters, Addie Roberts and Evelyn Proux, her brothers, Gessler Cleaveland, Ralph Cleavland, Guy Cleaveland, Sargent Cleaveland and a step brother, Freddie Cleaveland..

Survivors include her daughter Priscilla Anne Coulombe and her husband, Henry, of Adams; her grandchildren, Christopher P. Irish of Schuylerville, Thomas R. Irish and his wife, Kate of Schuylerville, Kristina Burger and her husband, Michael of Henderson and Janet Abbott and her husband, Joe of Bellevelle; one sister, Lucilea Lewis of Ballston Spa; one brother Roy Cleavland of Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Gospel Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, 30 LaCrosse Street in Hudson Falls, with the Reverend Paul Mead, pastor, officiating.

A reception will follow the services at the Gospel Lighthouse church hall at 30 LaCrosse St. in Hudson Falls.

Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in the Town of Fort Edward, later in the spring.

Mrs. Maxwell’s family suggests that memorial donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.
