Joyce Brileya Mattison

GANSEVOORT – Joyce Brileya Mattison, 89 a resident of Gansevoort, passed away do to complications of congestive heart failure on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born October 17, 1933, in Orwell, VT. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Leona (Allard) Brileya.

Joyce graduated from Whitehall Central High School in 1952. She married Warren J Needham in 1955. She spent several years as a stay-at-home mom to their six children and two of their (many) grandchildren.

On June 21, 1990, she married Ellis Mattison Sr.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She was known for making “the best” potato salad north of the Mason-Dixon line.

She enjoyed playing cards with friends and spending summer months in Vermont at the Patterson family camp on Fern Lake.

As well as visiting the coast of Maine on a moment’s notice. Joyce enjoyed a good road trip.

In 2018, Joyce reconnected with her long-lost son’s family the Brigham’s and discovered three wonderful grandchildren and their families.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Ellis Mattison Sr. Her son(s) Daniel Needham and John Brigham, a grandson Billy Jo Youns. Several sisters and brother, Doris, Rita, Fredia, Janet, Donald, Jack, Roger and Wayne. Son in Law Larry Cook.

She is survived by her children, Susan Needham, Cynthia Cook, Michael Needham (Tracy), Deborah Needham (partner Paul), Eric Needham; and grandson, Gary Needham (Jamie); her brothers Bob, Chester, and Jack; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Joyce will be missed by all including her lifelong friends, Patrica Haynes and family, the Hathaway family and Larry Grey,

There will be no calling hours at Joyce’s request.

Please join us on November 19, 2022, at 1 to 4 pm for a Celebration of Life Gathering at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club in South Glens Falls.

Peggy J. (Meade) Mattison

Mattison, PeggyFORT EDWARD – Peggy J. (Meade) Mattison, 62, of Sisson Road, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, October 23, 2017, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.

Born on December 28, 1954, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Ted and Betty (Dickinson) Meade.

Peggy attended South Glens Falls High School and continued her education, receiving her LPN in 1985.

On August 13, 1972, she married her high school sweetheart, Gary L. Mattison.   Together they shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.

After receiving her LPN, Peggy began her nursing career at the Glens Falls Hospital.  She was a very compassionate loving nurse, who enjoyed taking care of her patients.   Cooking was a passion for Peggy.  She enjoyed discussing and trying out new recipes.  She used her husband, Gary as a willing taste tester for the recipes she found on cooking shows.  Peggy also grew her own herbs to add flavor for her recipes.

She deeply loved her family.  Her grandchildren were the center of her life.  Peggy truly loved being around her siblings.  One of the greatest joys was going out to breakfast with her brothers and sisters.

Peggy was an avid reader of murder mysteries, especially James Patterson and romance novels.  She was loved and will be greatly missed by her family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Mattison of Fort Edward; her children, Christopher L. Mattison and his wife, Jennifer of Moreau and Jamie D. Stratton and her husband, Mike of Bennington, VT.; her grandchildren, Bradley Geroux, Colby Geroux, Carson Geroux, Michael Stratton, Damion Stratton, Evan Mattison and Nicholas Miller; her siblings,  Donna Palmer and her husband, Ralph, Daniel Meade, Sr., and his wife, Linda, Christine Lyons and her husband, Nelson, Michael Meade and his wife, Helen and Peter Meade and his wife, Marie;  her nieces and nephews, Shawn, Brian, Dan Jr., Ted, Heather, Dawn, Denise, Desmond, John, Tiffany and Mark; her aunts, Rita, Sally, Ginny, Betty, Jeanne, Mary and Linda; her uncles, Ed and Al; and several cousins.

Services will be private.

Arrangements are under the care of the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Jeffery Scott Mattison

Mattison, JefferyGLENS FALLS -Jeffery Scott Mattison, 51, of Glens Falls, passed away on October 5, 2017 at the Glens Falls Hospital, with his family by his side.

Born on October 3, 1966 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Robert and Joyce (Leppard) Mattison.

Jeff attended South High School and on October 29, 2004 he married Sara Morehouse.

He enjoyed small motor repairs and tinkering and watching NASCAR, especially his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon.   Jeff was also a Bronco’s fan and loved watching old classic westerns.  He was a joker and had a dry sense of humor and everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert Mattison.

Survivors include his wife, Sara Morehouse-Mattison of Glens Falls; his brothers, Dave Mattison and his girlfriend, Laura Roberts of South Glens Falls, Mike Mattison of South Glens Falls and Raymond Mattison of Hudson Falls; his two children, Jeffery S. Mattison, II and Danielle M. Mattison, both of Hudson Falls; his two grandchildren, Lane Mattison and Alaina Mattison; seven stepbrothers and stepsisters; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his dog Mya.

At Jeff’s request there will be no services.

The family wishes to thank Heather and all the nurses and staff on Tower 2 at the Glens Falls Hospital and his nurse Grace with the Warren County Nurses.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the C.R. Wood Cancer Center, 102 Park Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801.
