HUDSON FALLS – Joyce E. Dion, 80, of Moss Street Square, passed away, unexpectedly, on Sunday, November 10, 2013, at her home.
Born on August 13, 1933, North Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Jessie (Hall) Duntley.
Joyce worked throughout her life as a waitress and housekeeper. She was an accomplished painter, sketcher and artist. Her loved one’s cherished these works of art when they received them as gifts. She was a role model and mentor for her grandson as an artist.
Joyce was a wonderful baker, who made was known for her tasty cookies and pies. As a younger woman, she enjoyed camping all over the area, with her family. She was also a member of the VFW.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Roberta Duntley, Doris Duntley and Elaine McNally.
Joyce is survived by her children, Bruce Dion of Camden, Gary Dion of Hudson Falls, Gail Benson of Hudson Falls, Maria Dion of Glens Falls and Mark Dion and his wife, Sharon of Gloversville; her seven grandchildren, Jeremy Benson, Adam Benson, Alexander Dion, Caitlin Dion, Ashley Dion, Nathan Benson and Megan Dion; her four great grandchildren, Alyssa Benson, Logan Benson, Carter Dion and Lily Dion; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be conducted 10 am, on Monday, November 18, 2013, at Union Cemetery, in the town of Fort Edward.
