KINGSBURY – Elizabeth Ann Dammig Irish, 79, went into the Lord’s arms on September 22, 2014.
Betty was born June 3, 1935, in Springfield, New Jersey to the late Alvin and Elizabeth (McCandless) Dammig. In 1957, she graduated from Russell Sage College in Troy, where she met her future husband who was attending RPI. Betty married Raymond H. Irish on September 14, 1957.
After the births of her four boys, she went back to the nursing profession and worked for Warren County for over 20 years. Betty loved to cook and was known for her pies and sweet breads. She was an excellent artist, a Sunday school teacher, an accomplished bowler and could knock out a tune on the piano. She was a wonderful, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Betty loved spending time with her grandchildren and during the Adirondack Balloon Festival, could be seen trying to coax balloonists to land in her yard.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Alvin Dammig, Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Raymond H. Irish; her sons, Kevin M. Irish of Kingsbury, Michael Raymond Irish and his wife, Kelly of Warrensburg, James Irish and his wife, Lorrie of Hudson Falls, Jeffrey Irish of San Francisco, CA; her granddaughters, Amanda McWherter and her husband Joshua, Elizabeth Rehn and her husband, Whitney; her grandsons, Raymond and Ryan Irish, Shea Irish; and her great grandchildren, Hadley Rehn and Evan Rehn.
Friends may call Friday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.
The funeral services will be conducted Monday, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home.
The burial will follow the services at Pine View Cemetery, in the town of Queensbury.
