QUEENSBURY & FORT EDWARD – June E. (LaPoint) Gratton, 93, formerly of Dix Avenue and more recently of The Oaks in Fort Edward, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Pines in Glens Falls.
Born on March 11, 1924, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Eleanor (Usher) LaPoint.
June attended Ridge Street Elementary School and graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1942.
On Sept. 16, 1944, she married Richard E. Gratton in St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls. He passed away on October 27, 2004, after 60 wonderful years of marriage.
June worked at the Glens Falls Insurance Company as a young woman and later in her life, enjoyed shopping, especially on QVC. She loved spending time with her family and friends. June always considered her longtime friend, Lois Phelps and her children, Dick, Bob, Connie, Carolyn, Tommy and Brian, and their spouses, as family.
Survivors include her son, James R. Gratton and his wife, Gina, of West Chazy; two granddaughters, Whitney Gratton and her husband, Brian Monroe of Bethesda, MD and Meredith Gratton of Plattsburgh; her brother, Richard A. LaPoint of Chicago, IL; her two nieces, Susanne Kesselring and her husband, Ron and Lisa LaPoint; and her nephew, David LaPoint.
Friends may call on Saturday, September 16th , her wedding anniversary, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Funeral Services will follow the calling hour at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls, officiating.
The Rite of Committal will follow at Pine View Cemetery in the town of Queensbury, where June will be laid to rest next to her husband.
