QUEENSBURY – Betty Galka, 86, formerly of Sugarbush Road, went into the arms of the Lord, on Monday, March 25, 2019, at The Pines in Glens Falls, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 3, 1932 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Delos and Irene (Steves) Cook.
Betty attended Glens Falls High School and on June 4, 1950, she married Stanley Galka at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls. After her marriage, Betty moved to New Jersey with her husband. While living in New Jersey, she was employed as assistant manager at Grandway, for several years. On July 4, 2007, Stanley passed away, after 57 years of marriage. Following her husband’s death, Betty moved back to this area, to be near her family.
She loved going to garage sales and out to eat with her family and friends. The center of her life was visiting her family. She worshiped her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were her heart and soul.
Besides her parents and husband, Betty was predeceased by her son, Gary Galka and her brother, Robert Cook.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Murphy and her husband, Jerry of Westwood, NJ; her two grandchildren, Heather Murphy and her partner, Patrick Richards and Cassandra Perez and her husband, Jorge, all of NJ; her great grandchildren, Michael, Molly and Ethan; her sisters, Patricia Aubrey and her husband, Gordon of Argyle and Janet Pagano and her husband, John of Queensbury; her brother, Ronald Cook and his wife, Lucy of South Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls.
The Rite of Committal will be at later date at Union Cemetery in Fort Edward.
