GLENS FALLS – Lawrence “Larry” Cook, 3rd, 60, of Glens Falls, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in April 11, 1955, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth (Whiting) Cook, Sr.
Larry attended school on Fort Edward and served with the United States Navy from 1972 to 1973.
He was a truck driver for many years and worked for Finch Pruyn for a short time. He enjoyed driving a limo for his son’s business, Pristine Limousine.
He married his beloved wife, Cynthia Needham in Las Vegas, NV on May 8, 1996.
He was an avid bowler, having bowled 5 300 games and participated in a national tournament in Las Vegas. He also enjoyed stock car racing and like to go to the local dirt tracks. He was an avid CB’er using the handle “Peter Drag In” and he was often considered the life of the party and loved to make people laugh. But, when all is said and done, it was the time Larry spent with his family that gave him the greatest joy.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a grandson, James Christopher Cook, Jr.
Larry is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Needham) Cook of Glens Falls; his children, Michele Norton and her husband John of Glens Falls, Christopher Cook of Glens Falls, Valarie Cook of Fort Edward and Tiffany Cook of Glens Falls; his grandchildren, Nick Turner, Cody Turner, Patrick Norton, Jennifer Brown, Joseph Cook, Rebecca Dow, Kaitlynn Dow, Connor Cook, Taleisha Cain and Tatiana Blair; his great grandchild, Maya Turner; his brothers and sister, Robert Cook and his wife, Barbara of Glens Falls, William Cook and his wife, Chris of Queensbury, Terry Cook and his partner, Mike Brazee of Ballston Spa and Rosealee Cook of Hudson Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.
A graveside service will take place in the spring at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
Larry’s family suggests that memorial donations in his memory be made to the Fort Edward Rescue Squad, Inc., P.O. Box 226, Fort Edward, NY 12828.
