HUDSON FALLS — Joseph Peter Ciccone, 60, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully at home Monday, July 21, 2014, surrounded by his loving family and friends, following a long illness.
Born February 21, 1954, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Thomas and Leona (Romanelli) Ciccone.
Joe was a 1972 graduate of Hudson Falls High School.
After being together for eight years, he married the love of his life, Linda Fitzgerald on March 24, 1990. Joe was a loving husband and father to his five children. He also was Poppy to his adoring grandchildren. He stepped up in a selfless way, without question. Joe would give the shirt off his back to anyone.
Joe worked at Monahan and Loughlin and Ciba Geigy, as well as Precision Benchtop and was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #83.
He enjoyed restoring vintage Pontiacs and Volkswagens and was a master craftsman. Joe restored his 1968 Pontiac Firebird, which will be on display at the funeral home during calling hours. He secretly loved playing the guitar and was a classic rock aficionado.
Joe enjoyed spending time hunting with his best friend and “brother from another mother,” Mike Archambault who was by his side during his battle, especially every Thursday during treatments and doctor’s visits.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Thomas “Junior” Ciccone, his father in law and mother in law, John and Rose Fitzgerald and his faithful four-legged companion from Texas, Roscoe.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Fitzgerald) Ciccone; his children, Angela Ciccone, Monica Ciccone and her significant other, David Gonzalez, Dan Beagle and his wife, Liz, Ken Beagle and his fiancé, Amanda Sweet and Paula Beagle and her significant other, Josh Hallenbeck; his brother, Jim Ciccone and his wife Donna; his sisters, Dolores Blodgett and her husband, Dave and Ann Ciccone; his sister-in-law, Marilyn Ciccone; his grandchildren, Isabella Beagle, Jonathan Beagle, Nick Beagle, Roman D’Agostino and Lilah Beagle; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews; his best friend, Michael Archambault and his wife Arlene and their daughter, (Joe’s Goddaughter, Alison).
Friends are invited to call on Friday, July 25, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
The Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls.
The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
The family would like to express their gratitude to High Peaks Hospice, Dr. Gillani and his staff and the staff on Tower 2 at the Cancer Care Center at Glens Falls Hospital for their compassion, kindness, and care.
A profound thanks also goes out to Father Tom Babiuch, Dr. Evans, Tabitha Davis, Michelle Salls, and Leisha Hubbell.
The family requests donations in Joe’s name be made to the non-profit organization, The Glens Falls Home, Inc., 79 Warren Street, P.O. Box 2088, Glens Falls, NY 12801. (This corporation provided weekly transportation to Joe’s treatments.)
