Carol A. Pacyna

HUDSON FALLS – Carol Ann (Mead) Pacyna, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, August 14, 2018.   She was a lifelong resident of Hudson Falls.

Carol was born on June 30, 1937, in Glens Falls, to the late David and Rosemond (Daly) Mead.

She was a 1955 graduate of Hudson Falls High School and following graduation, Carol furthered her education at St. Peter’s Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1958, as a Registered Nurse.  She spent her nursing career at the Glens Falls Hospital, first in the operating room and then day surgery.  Carol also volunteered her time with mental health services in the surrounding community, including the early stages of development of Liberty House Foundation in Glens Falls. She returned to college in the middle of her career and was proud to have earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.

Carol enjoyed social activities and volunteering at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.  She also liked to travel with senior citizen groups.  Carol enjoyed the hunt for antique treasures as a life-long collector of antiques.  She especially enjoyed keeping up with her grandchildren’s activities and achievements.

Carol was predeceased by her devoted husband of 49 years, Andrew Pacyna, her parents, David and Rosemond Mead and her brother, Donald Plude.

She is survived by her children, David Pacyna and his wife, Andrea, Kathleen Thompson and her husband, Greg, John Pacyna, Michael Pacyna and his husband, Tim Nolan and Anne Canavan; her grandchildren, Clarissa, Sophie, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Olivia, Mason and Andrew James (AJ); her cousin Marjorie Cooney; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no public calling hours.

All are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018.

The Rite of Committal will follow at Union Cemetery, in the town of Fort Edward.

A reception will follow the cemetery services, to which family and friends are welcome.
