HUDSON FALLS – C. Marilyn Ryan, 83, of William Street passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving children, on Sunday, July 5, 2015.
Born February 8, 1932 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Catherine (Jones) Hynes.
In 1952, Marilyn married Frank J. Ryan in the Bronx. For the past fifty years, she has lived in this area. Frank passed away June 20, 1986, after 34 wonderful years of marriage.
In her forties, Marilyn went back to school and proudly obtained her R.N. from SUNY Adirondack formerly Adirondack Community College.
Marilyn loved her work as an R.N. at Glens Falls Hospital. She worked for 27 years, caring for people, making new friends and was fondly known as “MA’ Ryan by her co-workers. Marilyn was an avid reader who had a thirst for knowledge, which led her to read anything and everything. She was a strict organic vegetarian, was not shy about her views to her family, however she did love her sweets. Marilyn loved vacationing on any beach, especially Gloucester, MA. With her children, she was able to attend many football games, including two Super Bowls to watch her favorite team, the Giants, thanks to her son, Sean.
Besides her parents and husband, Marilyn was predeceased by her son, Thom, and her grandson, Shane.
Survivors include her five children, Bonnie Scarselletta and her husband, Steve “ Scratch” of Hudson Falls, Doreen Ryan and her companion, Lee Murphy of Hudson Falls, Dan Ryan and his wife, Valerie of South Glens Falls, Karen Diel and her husband, Bryon of South Glens Falls and Sean Ryan and his wife, Jenni of Hudson Falls; her daughter in law, Diane Higgins-Ryan; her six grandchildren, Kelsi Trevett, Rory Johnson, Caitlin Johnson and Shae Scarselletta, Amanda and Josh Ryan; her two great grandchildren, Jack and Ryan; her brother Rich Vena and his wife, Gwen and Jon Vena and his wife Rosemary; her sister, Pat Eggleston and her husband, Jim as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marilyn’s family wishes to thank all those who took special care of their mother during her illness, especially, Kelly, Karen, Audrey, Sam, Krista, Angie, Charlotte and Melissa.
Friends may call on Friday, July 10th from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.
Prayers will be offered at 6:30 p.m., Friday, during the calling hours at the funeral home.
