HUDSON FALLS – David J. Bourgault, 84, of Hudson Falls, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2015, surrounded by his loving family, at Albany Medical Center.
Born on March 24, 1931, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Adrian and Ethel (Bennett) Bourgault.
Dave was a lifelong learner. In 1950, he began his service in the United States Air Force, in San Antonio, Casa Blanca, Roswell, NM and Denver.
On March 24, 1950, he married the love of his life, Nina Harrington at the Hudson Falls First Baptist Church. She passed away on January 29, 2005.
Before his enlistment in the Air Force, he began his career with the General Electric Company in 1949 and returned after his service. He retired from GE in 1989 after 39 ½ years.
In 2005, he began working at the Glens Falls Hospital as a security guard. He loved his position, including the work, his co-workers and everything about it.
During his retirement, he enjoyed downhill skiing and many other forms of physical activities including working out at the YMCA. At the age of 75, he bought the Victory Motorcycle of his dreams and rode regularly throughout New England, especially the Green Mountains of Vermont. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, traveling. and getting a “good deal.” Dave could fix or build anything. He loved music and most of all he loved the time spent with family and his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sisters, Patricia Reeves and Judith Bradley and his uncle, Lynn Bennett, who was like a brother to him.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Jayne Bourgault and her companion, Dr. James White, III, MD, of Louisiana, Sandy Cleveland of Ballston Spa, Donna Bourgault and her husband, Alan Nielsen of Queensbury; his grandchildren, Luc Bourgault and Daniel Nielsen; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, from 4 to 6 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Funeral Services will follow on Tuesday, at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
