QUEENSBURY – Donald H. Bapp, 77, of Queensbury, died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at home with his family present, after a long illness.
Born April 17, 1936, in Princetown, he was the son of the late Oscar O. Bapp and Marian A (Petty) Bapp-Howk.
On September 7, 1956, Donald married Irene Peggy O’Leary at West Glens Falls Chapel.
Don was the owner and operator of his own service station called, Bapp’s Gulf, on Ridge Street, in Glens Falls. He also worked for Robert D. Monahan with Roofer’s Union 241, for more than 30 years. He retired from Monahan and Laughlin – Roofers Union in 1994.
Peggy and Don lived on Sunnyside Road, in Queensbury for 54 years. They also wintered in Fort Pierce, FL for 12 years. Don enjoyed cars all his life and also watching Nascar races. Don and Peggy enjoyed attending many Blue Grass festivals and loved country music. Don’s all time favorite thing was spending time with his sons, grandchildren, and family.
Besides his parents, Don is predeceased by his brothers, Robert, David, and Peter Bapp and his granddaughter, Nicole Bapp.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy; their seven sons, Thomas and his wife, Rissa of Gansevoort, Tymothy and his wife, Robin of Queensbury, Theodore and his wife, Cindy of Hudson Falls, Todd and his wife, Tina of Queensbury, Terry and his wife, Sandi of Argyle, Troy and his wife, Tammie of Queensbury, Tyrone and his wife, Tamara of Queensbury; his 17 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; his brother, Richard Bapp of Queensbury and Stuart, FL; and two sisters, Harriet Kalme of Easton and Ruth Creeden of Stuart, FL.
Family and friends may call Wednesday, 4 to 7p.m., at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls.
Funeral services will be private.
