NORTH CREEK – Sandy (Colvin) Chainao, 69, of North Creek, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Glens Falls Hospital.
Born on November 15, 1945, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Frances Brower.
For about 25 years, Sandy was the proud owner and operator of the White Pine Restaurant in North Creek, with her long time friend, Doris Fish. While running the restaurant, she made great food and developed many friendships. The White Pine Restaurant was best known for its ever changing “Christmas Tree” in which was decorated according to each season. In her earlier years, Sandy enjoyed going camping. More recently, she loved socializing and spending time with her friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Sheri Powell and her husband, Keith of Fort Edward; her brothers, Bob Colvin and his wife, Joan of Lewiston, ME and Bill Colvin of South Glens Falls; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Sparky.
The Rite of Committal will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2015 at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
Her family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Johnsburg Emergency Squad, Kelly Nessle, P.O. Box 23, Johnsburg, New York 12843.
Funeral arrangements are under care of Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
I worked for Sandy waiting tables and helped decorating the restaurant. It was great joy creating the tree for all the different seasons . thank you Sandy for the joy of knowing you .rest in peace. john and Brenda Cleveland
I also worked for Sandy. She was not just a Boss but a friend that I will remember for all the good times we had. So sorry for you loss Sheri, Bob and Bill. She will be remembered with fond memories.
Sheri, so sorry! Wish that there was an easy way to go thru this but as we all know only time will ease the hurt. keep all the great memories of her and the fun times alive. Please give my sympathy to the rest of the family. So glad the family got together and went to the Golden Corral together. I also got to take her to her over to Lil Nonys for breakfast a short time ago. So glad we did. I did really enjoy our times together.
