BROOKSVILLE, FL – Sandra L. “Sandy” Rozell, 67, passed away, in Florida, on September 16, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on July 9, 1949 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Elizabeth Rozell.
Sandy spent most of her school years at Hudson Falls School, until her senior year when she moved and graduated from Peru High School. After her graduation, she attended Samaritan Nursing School in Troy, where she earned her R.N. Degree. Following graduation, Sandy started her career at Leonard Hospital in Troy and later moved to Albany Memorial Hospital, where she worked for several years, until moving to Florida. She retired in 2013 from Naples Community Hospital in Florida. Sandy loved her nursing career, where she met many friends, both as patients and as co-workers.
Sandy moved to Brooksville to be near her friends and became a member of Brookridge Golf Club. Her hobbies include, golf and crocheting. Sandy was an avid reader, who would read everything. She also loved traveling to her time share in Aruba and Maine, playing board and card games and listening to all kinds of music. Her dogs held a special place in her heart. Sandy will be remembered for being a quiet, unassuming and kind person, who will be greatly missed by her family and all her friends.
Sandy is survived by her brother, David Rozell and his wife, Darlene of South Glens Falls; her three nieces, Amy Pratte and her husband, Steven of Bedford, NH, Lisa Mitzen and her husband, Edward of Saratoga Springs and Kathryn Johnston and her husband, Matthew of Kamas, Utah; her great nieces and nephews, Jessie Johnston and Devin Johnston, Joseph Pratte, Daniel Pratte, Timothy Pratte and Michael Pratte.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October, 1, 2016, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls, with Pastor Nick Tebordo, officiating.
Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
