Richard W. Michon

KINGSBURY – Richard W. Michon, 87, of Kingsbury, was born of Polish parents on August 16, 1927, in Schenectady.  He passed away peacefully en route from the Indian River Nursing home to the Glens Falls Hospital Renal Center on Monday, March 23, 2015, just before noon.

Dick was a graduate of Siena College, and then served his country, in World War II, in the United States Navy as a Company Commander.

His business career was in the field of Insurance for many years.  Upon retirement, he began a second career growing fruits and vegetables, and then moved on to becoming a “Master Gardener”, raising beautiful blooms and plants to the envy of many.  His floral reputation spread both in and out of the Hudson Falls area.

His wife, Jeanne, to whom he was married for 49 years, passed away in 2000.  Together they raised five children, Claire, the oldest, passed away in 2012.  Survivors include his children, Kevin, Claudia, Keith, his wife Kathy and Craig.  They cherish the memories along with six grandchildren, Sarah Brunelle, Trisha Maynard, Lee Loffler and his wife, Nicole, Melissa Michon, Jessica Michon and Marissa Michon.  Also surviving is his wife, Dorothy, whom he married in 2002; a niece, Kim Kehl and two nephews, Mark Michon and Bryan Michon.

Special thanks to all who helped, in anyway, to ease the pain of sickness and be of comfort to Dick, Dorothy and the family during Dick’s long suffering illness.  So many friends gave us strength.  Most specially a loyal and devoted friend, Ed Gordon and his family, Lee Potvin, Ed LaPoint, John Call, Nannette Loffredo, Ines Polito, Joyce and Clarence Bruno and his faithful transporters to and from dialysis three times a week, Tom and Joanne Cummings.  To Dr. Joseph Mihindu and his wife, Elaine, Dr. Patrick Rowley and his team, Sean, Mark and nurse, Elan, Dr. Robert Reeves, a most sincere “thank you” for your care and dedication that carried Dick through many a battle.

Last, but not least, to all the nurses on Tower 6 and 3W of Glens Falls Hospital, along with the nurses at Glens Falls Hospital Renal Centers, special thanks for your compassion and care.  Also to the team from HCR – Gail, Dan, Grace, Sherry and Penny, many thanks for all your efforts.

As per Dick’s request, there will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated, 11 am on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at St. Michael the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls with the Reverend James Barry Lonergan, officiating.

All are welcome to a reception in the fellowship hall at the church, following the Funeral Mass.

Burial will take place in the late spring at St. Paul’s Cemetery.
