QUEENSBURY – Nicolette M. Gillman, 84, of Evergreen Lane, Queensbury, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2016.
Born August 8, 1931, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late James and Andonetta Battiste.
Known to family and friends as Nickie, she graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1950.
Nickie married James T. Gillman in 1953, and they spent 50 years together until Jim’s passing in 2003. They raised their family of four children in Hudson Falls, and retired to New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where Nickie and Jim were active in the Pine Island Association, and spent many wonderful years enjoying good weather, walks on the beach and visits with family and friends in Florida.
With Jim’s passing, Nickie returned to Queensbury, and made new friends at Cedars Senior Living Residence. In 2012, she traveled to Giovinazzo, Italy, where her parents were born, and she discovered her cousins, Marie Battiste , Angelo Battiste and his wife Angela. They enjoyed an ongoing friendship.
Nicolette Gillman was predeceased by her husband James, two sons, Scott and Daniel Gillman, granddaughter, Angela Gillman and sister Anna and brother-in- law Harold Bennett, and brothers-in-law Ernest Tarantino and Dale Jarvis.
She is survived by her daughter, Helena and husband Paul and children, Christopher, Matthew and Lauren of Garden City, NY; daughter-in-law, Julie Gillman and children, Nolan, Clare, Jean and Ian of Lake George; and son, Gary and his wife, Regina, and children, Alaina, Madeline and Andrew of Mooresville, North Carolina; and daughter-law, Patricia Gillman. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Dominic and wife Grace Fallacaro of Orange City, Florida; sister, Mary Tarantino of Schenectady; and sister, Florence Jarvis of Daytona Beach, Florida; sister-in-law, Caroline Suprenaut of Queensbury and brother-in-law, Robert Levison of Indian Lake; and many caring nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls, on Monday, May 16, 2016, from 3:00 pm to 7:00pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at St. Mary’s – St. Paul’s Church, on the park in Hudson Falls followed by the Rite of Committal at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward
Nickie’s family suggests that memorial donations in her memory be made to The Charles R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital, 100 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
