HUDSON FALLS – Mildred L. White, 96, of Jones Avenue, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013, at her home.
Born on September 13, 1917 in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late William and Eunice Sherman.
Mildred was a graduate of Fort Ann School and in 1936, at the age of 18, she eloped with George White.
For many years, Mildred worked for J & J Lingerie in Granville and then moved with the company to Glens Falls. She retired at the age of 65.
Mildred was a very self reliant and independent woman. She lived on her own up until her death. Mildred loved to collect porcelain dolls, music boxes and lighthouses.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her infant son, Teddy, her daughter, Myrna Sherman and all her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Joan Churchill and her husband, Glenn of Hudson Falls and Ronald White and his wife, Ruth, also of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Robin (White) Fanning, Ronald White II, Hope (White) Barber and Beth (Churchill) Cafferty; her great grandchildren, Mark, Ethan, Ronald, Raymond, Jeremy, Nichole, Adam, Aaron, Kayla, Conor and Caitlin Cafferty; one great great granddaughter, Kayleigh; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Monday, November 25th , from 11 to 1 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
