FORT EDWARD – Michael S. Beckwith, 71, of County Route 46, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born August 30, 1942 in West Pawlett, VT, he was the son of the late Hogar and Beatrice (Kelley) Beckwith. Michael attended Argyle School.
He was a retired painter for W.C. Pattanaud in Mechanicville, and in his younger years worked for S.D. Carruthers Sons Inc..
Michael enjoyed taking care of his animals on his farm in his retired years. He also enjoyed watching television, at home he was the master of the remote. He loved hunting, fishing, and all animals, especially his cats.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Robert Beckwith.
Survivors include his significant other, Donna Duell of Fort Edward, her son John Duell, and several other of her children; his eight children, Michael R. Beckwith of Fort Edward, Michelle Hermance of Michigan, Pearl (John) Rabine of Fort Edward, James Beckwith (Bonnie) of Lake Luzerne, Ruth Jane Necessary of Whitehall, Beatrice Larry of Glens Falls, Randy Beckwith and his companion, Heather, of Bloomingdale, Michael Cheney (Margaret), of South Glens Falls; many grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; his sister, Barbara Jones of Queensbury; and the mother of his children, Ruth Beckwith of Glens Falls.
In memory of Michael, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
