HUDSON FALLS – Michael “Mike” G. Manell, 51, of Delaware Avenue, went home to Jesus, on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at his home.
Born on May 13, 1963, in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Glendon and Bernice (Rose) Manell.
On June 3, 2006 he married Sandy Mace Darling. They were married 8 wonderful years.
Mike loved his job working for Blue Line Commuter. It gave him the opportunity to share and more importantly to help people. Mike was a jokester, also a compassionate and very giving man to everyone that he met. The center of his life was his family and friends. He was most proud of his children and his grandchildren.
His love of animals was throughout his life. As an animal whisperer, Mike was able to coax any animal to be calm and let him help them, which he did many times through the years. His home had many different kinds of animals who sought refuge. Mike never gave up on his animals or on himself. He battled for years to be healthy and in the end, Mike found peace.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Cheryl Manell.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sandy Manell; his children, Jillian O’Neill, Chad Manell and his companion, Kristi Havens, Jessica Watson and her husband, Michael, Ashlee Manell, Shawnna Collard, Rochelle Manell and Chayse Manell; his grandchildren, Jasmine and Julianna O’Neill, Preston and Braydon Manell and Michael Watson; his siblings, Rick Manell and his wife, Barbara, Terry Manell, Denise McCall, Charlene Manell and Gary Manell; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many wonderful close friends.
Friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Graveside Services will be conducted Friday, 1 p.m., at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall.
His family wishes to thank Dr. Darci Gaiotti-Grubbs and the entire staff at C.R. Wood Cancer Center as well as the staff of High Peaks Hospice, for the wonderful care and compassion given to Mike and his family during this difficult time.
Memorial donations may be sent to C.R. Wood Cancer Center, 101 Park Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801.

I am sending my condolences to the Manell family.Mike was a inspiration to so many people as he fought hard with his battle with cancer.Even though he had a long road ahead of him and some of his days were difficult, he still managed to post a positive Facebook status or a picture with a funny face or a smile. My dear Uncle Mike went home to be w/ Jesus. His valiant fight with cancer surpassed all medical expectations. I’m so proud and honored to have been one of his nieces. To have experienced his kind heart and love as a young girl. Those special memories will always be a treasure to me. Thankful for his desire for his dear children to come to The Lord Jesus too. Cancer isn’t fair, it’s ugly, but His love and grace is beautiful…Beauty for Ashes! Thankful his children, family and friends will be blessed with the memory of his love and zeal for them and life and then eternity in the latter part of his life for himself and his beautiful family and friends. We serve a faithful Savior who has brought him home where He’s prepared a bountiful place for him. You will be missed and I will continue to rejoice and thank Jesus for your place of refuge and sweet peace, where we will join you one day! I love you, Uncle Mike (((hugs)))
Please continue to pray for his cherished family and friends.
My condolences to Mike’s family. He had a great attitude during his illness. An inspiration to all. So sorry for your loss.
